So we all know I love weiner dogs and have three of my own but I've never been to the races in Buda but that's all about to change this weekend! Have you ever seen a wiener dog race? Here’s your chance! "Wonder Wieners" is the theme of Buda's annual dachshund race, and every spring, people come to watch from all over the area.
The 21st annual Buda Lions Wiener Dog Races is super-fun family event, and tickets are only $5.00 per person over 12, and FREE For kids 12 and under. The annual races, which are in their 21st year, are April 28 and 29 at Buda City Park. Festivities start at 8 a.m. and end at 6 p.m., while the wiener dog races begin at 10 a.m. All proceeds go toward the Buda Lions Club. Want to enter your very own wiener dog? The entry form can be found on the Buda Lions Club page.
The money raised at this event goes right back into the community. The Buda Lions Club supports kids’ vision screening events at the local schools, donating funds towards local school scholarships, and helping out the Texas Lions Camp, which is a camping facility for children with physical disabilities.
Also at the event, you’ll find Arts & Crafts vendors, an assortment of food vendors, kids games, a BBQ cook-off, and a bake-off.
New this year: a separate mixed breed set of races.
Firehouse Animal Health Center is the official event vet, and they have a fantastic contest for attendees, so stop by to visit them! You can enter to win a backpack full of pet goodies! Anyone who posts a Firehouse photo (with Chief the 12' blow-up dog or with a Firehouse doc/representative) during the races, and tag Firehouse will be entered to win a backpack filled with pet goodies.

A few weekends back the hubs and I took a little road trip to Waco for the Spring at the Silos event. I'd never been but of course I looooove "Fixer Upper" and was so excited to check out all of the different Magnolia hot spots. I do recommend going and checking it out if you've never been but I also suggest going on a slower weekend or even during the week. We got there on Friday afternoon and went to our amazing Bed & Breakfast first, The Migel House and then walked to the Silos. There were SO many vendors outside of the silos for the event so we found a lot of cute stuff. I loved everything inside of the Silos too, what a surprise. ;) Later that evening after a great day of shopping we went and had a delicious dinner at DiamondBack's! This place has excellent food and the service was very good.
Saturday came around where we did some more shopping but this time at local antique shops where we found quite a few special decor items for our house. One that I thought was just awesome is called Savage Finds and it's pretty close the the Silos. We found the cutest "Welcome Y'all" Texas sign for our front yard and the owner of the place is a super nice guy! There are tons of treasures in that place, if you're into antiques then you definitely need to go check it out. After we were done shopping we drove around Waco to see if we could spot any of the "Fixer Upper" houses, I think we found a couple of them. It's fun driving through all of the neighborhoods because you really get a feel for the town. We stopped by Magnolia Table on the way home to grab a snack for the road and then headed back home to Austin. Overall it was a super easy and fun little trip!

Sherwood Forest Faire
How many of us wonder if we could have been really great at some type of craft or skill, given an earlier start? Sherwood Forest Summer Camp attendees have the opportunity to try their hands at many crafts and skills that are no longer widely taught. Maybe your child is a natural with a bow? Or perhaps they are made for the stage, but never had a chance to be in a play before. It is amazing what a child can learn without the distractions of the modern world.

Happy beautiful Spring my friends! I don't know about y'all but this gorgeous weather just puts me in the best mood and makes me feel like I can do it all! (I can't obviously) but having motivation that I can is always a good thing! We had such a lovely event last week at Meridian 98 which is on the rooftop of the gorgeous Sonesta Hotel in Bee Cave! It is one of my absolute favorite venues to host an event. The staff is SO polite and friendly, the space is comfy and sophisticated and the views are to die for! If you came, thank you so much for supporting our community and if you missed it, we hope to see you at the next one which will be on April 25th at Yardhouse in the Domain! If you weren't able to attend the event or got caught up chatting with friends and missed a chance to meet with one of the amazing vendors, no worries because I've got you covered! Below please find a list of our vendors along with how to contact them and be sure to reach out to them directly! Congratulations to everyone who got one of our sweet swag bags and to all of the winners of the giveaways!
