Happy Sunday and end of July folks! I am staying cool in this 100+ degree weather by keeping my butt in the A/C and eating a bunch of popsicles because I literally can't take the heat this time of year. One day I will have a beach or lake house somewhere outside of Texas where I will spend my summers, I'm aiming high people! ;) Well I just wanted to get on here and give a huge shout out to all of our amazing vendors from our past event, all of whom you can check out below! I also have to thank our outstanding Venue, Iron Cactus Grill + Margarita Bar for the wonderful service, food + drink specials and beautiful space. We had a lovely awesome photo booth from the great Elite Photo Booth and even a cotton candy spinner from Fancy Fluff! We also collected donations and volunteer signatures for one of my favorite local charities, FamilyLink Foster & Adoption Agency! Lastly, I want to thank our very talented photographers: Ayuma Photography and Deborah Reinhard Photography, both of whom took excellent photos and really captured the evening! If you missed this event, you missed a lot of fun and networking opportunities, not to mention the loads of Swag, but don't worry because next month we are going downtown! It's going to be our first downtown event and I am SO excited, check out the event page for more info! Below you can see our vendors from July and please reach out to them directly if you so desire for any of your health/beauty/wellness/home needs, they will be so happy to help you!

I am so excited that we have two amazing leading ladies this month, both whom are very passionate about their Arbonne businesses! Please check out their interviews below and reach out to them for any of your skincare, nutritional or lifestyle needs!
Lori Lucero moved to Austin one year ago from the gorgeous Denver area where she is from. She is married to her loving husband Shane, and they have two teenagers in the house, Taylor & Brendan. Her passion is to educate and empower people to live a healthy, abundant, and extraordinary life! Lori will be at our July event to answer any questions you may have about Arbonne & she is ready to help you change your lifestyle for the better!
If you're looking for Karin Petersen, she is either driving carpool, playing tennis, watching dance rehearsal, making dinner for six, doing laundry, creating art at her sewing machine, taking her silly dog for a walk, swimming or playing games with her family. It's a busy world we live in, but she wouldn't have it any other way! Karin has lived in Austin for one year (by way of Boston, NYC, Pittsburgh, South Florida and Connecticut). She and her wonderful husband have four amazing kids who keep them on their toes & very busy!
Tell us about your business and how you became the successful business woman you are today. (how did you get the courage to start your business, what motivated you, how many hours you put in, how you keep a positive outlook, etc)
Lori: Arbonne is a Health and Wellness company providing pure, safe and beneficial products attached to an amazing business opportunity. At the time that Arbonne found me in 2005, I was working for a Fortune 100 company, living paycheck to paycheck and missing out on being home with my children.
I saw this business opportunity as a way to gain control of my life and my family finances, I also knew that I could help so many other people along the way either by using safe products or helping others get out of the corporate rat race like myself. What I loved about Arbonne was that the business model was laid out for me with a ton of support. I knew if I followed the plan and worked the model that was provided, I would be able to achieve my dreams and also help as many people as I could along the way. I was able to replace my corporate income and quit my job in the first 8 months.
I just celebrated 12 years! Our company car, a Mercedes Benz isn't too bad either. I have been able to retire my husband and he has decided to join me on this journey as well. This business can equal all of your hopes and dreams. It is the best decision I ever made!
Karin: Arbonne exemplifies most of the things that are important in my life. I find it important to take care of mind, body, environment and spirit.
I wasn't looking for a career; Arbonne found me. I started using the skincare and immediately saw a positive change. The nutrition changed my body and my life. While I am a stay at home mom to our four kids, I get to enthusiastically show them how to balance work and fun. I am motivated to show my kids how to lead a healthy lifestyle with pure, safe and beneficial ingredients, a love for animals and the environment and how to be forward thinking entrepreneurs.
When I started my Arbonne business, my children were on board to help and support. It's been an amazing journey so far. It is a terrific opportunity to teach people how to take care of their bodies, inside and out.
Describe yourself in three words:
Lori: Friendly, caring, and hardworking
Karin: Loyal, communicative and creative
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Lori: Promoting to the top level of our company in a record amount of time.
Karin: My greatest achievement is raising four wonderfully engaged, independent and thoughtful children.
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
Lori: To coach and help others to be successful!
Karin: My professional near term goals are to continue to build an amazingly successful team encompassing diversity, success and teamwork. I have the most wonderful mentor who guides the team as a family. I'd like to emulate her passion for a successful team.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Lori: To write a book!
Karin: My love for art is always in the forefront of my heart. I love to sew, and create quilts or painting from fabric and thread. Art is a lifelong hobby that I hope to always grow and learn from.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
Lori: Living with intention everyday. This is easier said than done but it's something we all should strive for daily!
Karin: I like to get the majority of my work done while my kids are at school. There are a few nights a week when I have to be out. I'm lucky to have full support from my loving husband and kids, who help out whenever they can.
What websites do you visit every day?
Lori: Facebook is a must!
I like to catch up on Facebook groups and pages, Instagram posts and CNN for current events.
What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in Austin?
Lori: Boating on Lake Travis, tubing and finding new fun restaurants to try!
Karin: I absolutely love going to The Grille in Rough Hollow. Anything on the lake makes me happy. I love seeing bands in small venues downtown such as Antone's and Nutty Brown Cafe in Dripping Springs. I spend endless hours playing friendly and competitive matches at The World of Tennis, in Lakeway. It's a great place to have fun, stay fit and see friends!
What is your goal for retirement?
Lori: To travel as often as I can!
Karin: The beauty of Arbonne, is that I really never have to retire. I will always have a team to focus on, new products, and forward thinking ideas. I can do as little or as much as I want...that is a positive point of being in charge of my own business!
Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
Lori: Take the leap! You will never know if you don't.
Karin: Do it! The first step is the hardest. You have to try something new to make a change. In order to succeed, you have to get out of your comfort zone. You will truly grow as a person through mistakes, challenges and success.
Any final comments?
Lori: Live life abundantly!
Karin: I feel so blessed to be part of such a wonderful team and company. I have my eye on the prize and the future looks amazing with Arbonne!
Hi lovely friends! I just wanted to get on here to share the awesome day and experience I had with some out of town friends who were visiting from San Diego this past week. I've been wanting to go tubing down a river for so long and we finally made it happen while they were here! It helped having the coolest and most chill friends ever with me and the fact that it's been one thousand freaking degrees outside for the past several days!
There is a big difference between the swimming holes and pools out here compared to the actual rivers that you can go tubing on and just float the day away. We did some research and decided to go to the San Marcos river since it was the closest to my house although it was still a little bit of a drive, probably about an hour or so each way. The day trip was soooo worth it though! We stopped at Thundercloud Subs before hand to grab some subs to eat at the river, I of course got the chicken salad on wheat which is my absolute favorite! By the time we got to the Lions Club Tube Rental, which is where we started because we needed to rent tubes and we wanted to shuttle pass to take us from the end of the tubing spot back up to the beginning, we were ready to eat! Luckily there were plenty of picnic tables and areas to scarf down our sandwiches and be on our way down the river! Let me tell y'all if you live in Austin and you haven't tubed down a river yet, get your butt's out there and go! It was so fun, so relaxing and it cooled us off so much! It didn't even feel like 98 degrees outside that day because the water stays around 72-74 so it was just perfect! There were so many cute turtles, fun spots to jump off with a rope swing and nice spots to lay out as well. At the end of the float there were these awesome rapids that we went down in our tubes, it was so much fun! Be sure to keep your hats and sunglasses in a safe spot though or you could lose them, it can be a little rough around the rapids!
Below is the info on where I went with my friends but I've also listed a couple other spots for you to check out as well! I hope y'all have as much fun as I did on your tubing adventure!
San Marcos River: San Marcos Tubes: Float lasts about an hour
Comal River: Comal Tubes: Great for families and large groups
Guadalupe River: Shanty Tubes: Longest float can take up to five or six hours!
Hey friends! I hope you all had a wonderful and safe July 4th and got to spend some time with your loved ones! I was in downtown Austin for a few nights and just got home this morning. It's nice to be pampered in a hotel but it just makes me realize that I truly love being at home with my husband and pups, watering the garden, feeding the birds and so on. I am so grateful to all of the men and women who help keep our country safe and allow us the freedom that we all have in this wonderful country of ours. With that said, I apologize for getting this edition of Locals We Love out a few days late, my life has been a bit busy but I'm back in action! If you didn't make it to our June event, you really missed out on some amazing vendors & Swag! We were at the Waterloo Icehouse off of 360 & 2222 and I have to give a shout out to their amazing staff who went above and beyond to make us all very happy, I was really impressed. We also had two super professional and talented photographers, Trevor Bruner Photography & Ayuma Photography! There was a specialty Housewives cooler cocktail just for us which was delightful and mix that in with incredible vendors, amazing swag, good food & nice people make for a wonderful evening! Our awesome spotlight charity this time was Austin Child Guidance Center and they are just a dream to work with, feel free to reach out to them for donations and/or volunteer opportunities! For those of you who missed the event, we missed having you there but below is a recap of all the fantastic businesses we had there who made the event a success, please contact them directly if they can help you in any way! We hope to see you all at our next event at the Iron Cactus Grill + Margarita Bar on July 26th, I have a lot of surprises for this upcoming event! :)
