Tell us about your business and how you became the successful business woman you are today.
After a 17 year retail career, I made the choice to stay at home to raise my son. We found out while I was pregnant that he has Cystic Fibrosis. CF "is a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time." That said, he needs more care and flexibility than I would be able to offer working full time away from home. The only problem is that I had always worked full time and didn't know what to do with myself. I also realized very quickly that my fun money and ability to save was drastically reduced without a second income. On top of all that, I needed something for myself. Color Street is a brand new company who believes "in supporting and empowering a person's spirit & individuality." They "celebrate entrepreneurs and inspire them to pave the road to personal success." It is the perfect way for me to do something fun and easy while making extra money for myself and my family!
Describe yourself in three words:
Fun, Outgoing, Motivated
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Running a multi million dollar business!
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
I really want to focus on growing my team and building my personal business.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I also enjoy bartending. :)
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
I make it a point to plan time with my family. I also save the work for early morning and after bedtime so it never acts as a distraction from my family.
What websites do you visit every day?
Facebook (like the rest of us...)
What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in your city?
Gathering with girlfriends! We love Geraldine's, Bachelor(ette), and salad jar parties. (So suburban house wife of me!)
What is your goal for retirement?
Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
You can do it! Just jump in because you will be amazed at what you can achieve.
Any final comments?
I am just so excited to be starting this business and I would love for anyone who is interested in Color Street to reach out to me, whether I can help you with a purchase or better yet, if you'd like to join my team! I believe this is going to be a huge success and I'm really looking for the right ladies to join me on this journey!
Hi lovely readers! As many of you know who follow the ATX Housewives FB page, I was just recently in the glorious city of Las Vegas with a ton of other women. I was there along with some of the other HITC ladies for the Connect Her Media conference that is held once a year! It was so much fun and I met so many awesome women who are just running the world like a boss and doing it well! It was very inspiring to be around the founder of our awesome community, Andrea Khoury from Northern Virginia HITC as well as the other super successful ladies who spoke, were on a panel or were there to hold round table sessions!
I went out a day early to hang with my little sis, Dad & Step-mom since they live out there half of the time. I got to take my sis to my most favorite restaurant in Vegas, Firefly! If you are ever out there, GO TO THIS restaurant! It is tapas style and every single dish is the most amazing thing you've ever had! I'm not exaggerating. And No they are not paying me to say this, it is just seriously that good. It's not on the strip either which makes it so chill and laid back even though it's a little fancy on the inside. It was so delicious that I didn't take a single photo, which is unusual for me.
Then Friday it was time to meet up with my other HITC ladies and spend some much needed pool time at the SLS hotel where the conference was held! I loved getting to know all of these gals and the sun tan didn't hurt either. Later that evening we were invited to a super yummy meal at Giordano's Pizza which was sooo good too! There was wine, pizza, pasta, salad and so many smart women there to network with! I wish they would open up a restaurant in Austin because I always thought I was more of a NYC pizza fan but I really enjoyed this Chicago style, it was ALL cheese and was freakin' delicious!
Saturday came around and we had a lovely breakfast from Got Milk? to start the day. We were then moving deep into speakers and the founder of Fab Fit Fun started the day, so awesome! Then came round table discussions, the Swag Suite and so much networking! I got to meet an amazing gal Poala from the very exciting Xcaret Adventures in Mexico and I will be there next month so that was pretty cool! Later that evening we had yet another delicious sponsored dinner from Johnny Rockets where I'm ashamed to admit it but I scarfed down chili cheese fries, tater tots, a salad (not too much of this item), a cheeseburger and a milk shake flight with chocolate, vanilla & strawberry! The strawberry was the best. I must be getting old because after dinner I did a little gambling at the slots and roulette table where I lost $20 and then I was ready to call it a night by 11pm, not kidding at all.
We moved right on along to Sunday for the keynote speaker from Mom Trends who was a really nice and insightful woman, I really enjoyed her talk! This led to more round tables and finally a panel that our founder was on so that was VERY cool! All in all my full weekend with a ton of women was informative, fun, hilarious and inspiring! Sometimes when you get a group of women together for that long of a time things can get cliquey, dramatic or catty but not with this group! Hallelujah!
I wrapped up Sunday with a gorgeous hike with my sis around Red Rock Canyon and the views there are INSANE! I hadn't ever experienced that side of Vegas so I was super impressed, it is a must see for sure! Put it on your bucket list people, the photos below don't even do it justice! Well I hope you enjoyed the little story of my amazing weekend with even more amazing women & I hope to see you all at the August event coming up at the end of the month!
