Is it just me or does it seem like Thanksgiving snuck up on us SUPER fast this year? I really feel like we JUST got done with Halloween and now BAM, we've only got a few more days until one of the best days of the year but also one that requires a ton of work, effort and planning. We've decided not to travel during the holiday season this year and we don't have any family in Austin so I always host the holidays when we're here at home with friends and whatever family decides to fly in. My husband's oldest son is living with us now and my brother in law will be coming in from San Diego so that's nice, plus our normal friends that always join in on our holiday gatherings will be our guests of honor! This year since we'll be home means I'll be doing all of the cooking, yay! (half serious, half sarcastic) ;)
I actually do love to cook and try different recipes so it is kind of exciting and I'm always happy with the final result! So I thought I'd share with ya'll some of the recipes that I'm planning on making this year. Also just to warn you, this is not a day where I try to be healthy by any means or cook "good for you" food. So if that's what you're looking for, this is the wrong place for you! Lol :) This year on my Thanksgiving menu will be: Deviled eggs, Roasted Turkey, Stuffing, Dijon Maple Green beans, Million dollar Macaroni & Cheese, Parmesan crusted Zucchini sticks, Brown Sugared Carrots, Cornbread casserole, and Garlic mashed potatoes. I haven't even thought at all about desserts yet, Lord help me!
I'm really liking the idea of these green beans because I usually make the traditional green bean casserole with the French's fried onion strings and condensed mushroom soup and it just always tastes so bland while most of it goes to waste. I'm excited for these Dijon Maple Green Beans with caramelized pecans, bacon and feta! You can find the recipe here:
I tried these carrots for the first time last year and OH MY GOODNESS, they were so so stinkin' good! I wanted more veggies because I always have so many carb dishes which make me get so full way before I'm ready to be done eating! Check out the recipe here:
Lastly this cornbread casserole just looks so incredibly good so it made the cut for the menu this year! I love corn, creamed corn, cornbread so I really don't see how I can go wrong with this dish of deliciousness! It also only requires five ingredients which I really appreciate it since I have quite a few items to cook this year! Get the recipe here:
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and please comment below with the desserts that ya'll are making, I need some ideas! Check out some of my Thanksgiving Decor, I'm in love with our new placemats, courtesy of HomeGoods (my home away from home)!
