Ok. No, I'm not old. I'm not even 30 yet! I have reached a milestone that I'm particularly excited about and that's my 10 year high school reunion! I did cut & dye my hair for the first time since high school for the occasion though.
First, it was amazing because I was the Chair of the planning committee! Not because I'm all that, but because I love planning events. I put so much passion into them. It's really fun for me. I love the joy on everyone's faces when they're enjoying themselves.
Next, I attended an all girls, private, Catholic, college preparatory school........ lol that's not the point. The point is that at this age, as females, we're all doing one or a combination of four things
1) Finishing MORE college
4) Up to our ears in children
...so it was fairly easy to plan. In their newfound adulting they didn't want anything fancy, which is what I had been dreaming of, they just wanted to eat, drink, and catch up. Life is very complicated so we don't have much money to spend on a ticket, time to find a gown and tux, or remaining brain cells to mail a formal RSVP.
Lastly, the connections were awesome! We talked about being right at the cusp of the birth of The Facebook and how we're still so familiar because we've been able to keep up with each other's lives on social media. And now that we're career women, we can share our resources with each other. It was a networking event inside of a reunion! It also reconnected many of us back to the school. As alumnae, we had to give back to the institution that has done so much for us!
Have you attended a high school reunion? Tell me all about your experience in the comments.
