I am honored to announce our partnered charity for our October & November Girls Night Out:
It is truly amazing how social media can be utilized these days. I stumbled across this amazing charity, "Community Threads", when familiarizing myself with local businesses and people via Instagram. In only a few moments I realized what a great organization they were and I immediately knew I wanted to partner with them. I am privileged to provide their bio here to help spread awareness of the tools we have in Chicagoland to help those in need.
We are a Christian, volunteer driven, nonprofit thrift store that serves God and loves people by providing quality, low cost, goods in an environment that conveys respect to our customers, donors and volunteers in order to run programs and make grants that transform our community.
What We Do
Community Threads is a one of a kind thrift store; what really sets us apart is that we are truly nonprofit using our profits to help our neighbors. We strive daily to provide the highest quality clothing, furniture, housewares, books, games, and, just about anything else you can think of, all at the lowest possible price. You can find great quality brands in our store but you won’t pay more for them.
Your purchase, donations and service at Community Threads help fund real change in your community. It supports our affiliates (and more) who provide help to the home-less, scholarships for kids and training for future leaders and safety for inner-city youth through a family-plex.
In addition, Community Threads supplies goods to many in need, from clothing given to refugees, blankets given to animal rescue shelters, you name it Community Threads answers the call!
Community Threads began as a response to the needs of people in our community. This store is a source of funds to a network of christian charities that engage with the problems related to poverty. Some feed and clothe the homeless, shelter struggling families and provide a safe place for victims of abuse. Some bring education to children that may be denied it otherwise. Some provide recovery programs for addictions and some provide leadership training. It is our goal at Community Threads to provide our customers with quality merchandise at low prices and turn store profits into grants that serve these purposes.
We started off in a modest store in Buffalo Grove and have grown into our new location in Arlington Heights. Over our first five years in business we have not only gotten larger but have also been able to give away close to $1 Million dollars to worthy causes.
