Hows your weekend? I thought I would share my experience and my DIY project from the week before my January event, on the 24th, the Girls Night Out Networking Social :]
I was walking around a 'We Have It All!' type store the other day, seeking a way to display some items -basically a frame would work- but nothing they had was right... I took a 'side road' and found their canvas art section. They had some cute stuff, nothing was quite right, but it sparked an idea!!!
"I have canvas' and paint!
I put some string on the Photographer canvas so I could hang little cards for each Photographer!
I used permanent markers and drew on outlines of the Colorado Springs skyline and Pikes Peak, just some pictures I found on google.
I wasn't able to finish this one in time, but I'll have it for the next one.
Nothing fancy, but I thought it all turned out very well!
Good luck on your projects, I hope my pics helped!
- before you go!!! I wanted to invite you our next Girls Night Out Mingling Meet-Up event on February 28th at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew located in downtown Colorado Springs!

Huge thanks to Jessica from Lapse Media!
I am Jessica Hines, a Colorado native. I have two children and one on the way. I am a social person who loves to do things, be active and enjoy nature. I love living in Colorado! I have always have been creative so It didn't take long for me to fall in love with the art of shooting and editing video. Most of all I like telling stories. I started Lapse media in late 2017. Lapse media is a combination of my passion and my close to a decade experience in broadcast media. Lapse media specializes in creative video shots edited together to tell compelling stories. Every story is worth telling, whether its an event, business or personal to promotions and branding for your company. Your story is important from the beginning to the end. the way it is told matters. "
I worked in the corporate media industry for almost 10 years. Through those years I felt like I wasn't giving my children all the attention I should have. Long hours and tired when I got home. That was the motivating factor that made me start thinking about doing what I loved -on my own. That way my time could be equally divided to work and family. Still in the beginning- I remain positive that my video work and story telling will carry this business on. "

I've searched and compared and NOW! I want to share with you my findings! I've come up with a Top 5 Restaurants for Valentine's Day in Colorado Springs just for you ;]
The BroadMoor - Penrose room
As far as romance goes (and if you're feeling like getting fancy!), head to The Broadmoor! The top ranked room to book is the Penrose room, but on my list I also have the Lake Terrace, La Taverne, and the Golden Bee that are great choices for a elegant Valentine's dinner.
"Savor contemporary European cuisine inspired by the seasons at the Penrose Room, Colorado’s only Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five-Diamond restaurant. A classically elegant ambiance with enchanting mountain views and gracious service provides the perfect atmosphere to indulge in artful entrees crafted with the finest seafood, meats, and local produce available. Our expert sommeliers will navigate you through an extensive wine list, while a decadent collection of desserts ensures the perfect conclusion to this unmatched fine dining experience."
The Pepper Tree Restaurant
With phenomenal cuisine, like their expertly prepared steaks and seafood, and a great ambiance, it's no wonder The Pepper Tree is ranked as one of the locals top picks for taking the family for celebrations. If you are looking for a spot with romance, The Pepper Tree has one of the most breath taking views in Colorado Springs from it's perch on a hill top.
"Enjoy a fine dining experience in business casual attire at one of Colorado Springs' most favorite dining destinations. Diners are treated to meals prepared right at their table - a nice touch of personal service.
The menu has remained standard over the years, featuring favorites like the restaurant's signature Pepper Steak, but the chef will occasionally offer dishes that push the current culinary boundaries! Join us for a memorable experience!"
If you are thinking about Carlo's Bistro for V-day - while being personally greeted and escorted by Carlos, the owner and name sake, to your table - you will experience a new level of customer service! They are famous for their fresh fish and seafood dishes, which are decided on a day-to-day basis to keep us on our toes, but with Chef Carlos' signature playful Peruvian twist on each classic bistro dish - it's hard to decide which will be your favorite!
"With his tie draped over his shoulder and a smile on his face, Chef Carlos will check in with each guest to make sure they are enjoying their meals and having a pleasant, personalized dining experience. This hospitality and commitment to customer service has made Carlos’ Bistro a success among locals and visitors alike and has earned our restaurant a host of awards from Yelp, TripAdvisor, The Colorado Springs Independent, the Gazette and many others. We were also named Zagat’s #1 Choice in Colorado and part of the Zagat 2013 Best Top Restaurants in the U.S."
The Mona Lisa
The Mona Lisa Restaurant in Manitou Springs has a wonderful fondue dining experience, with a romantic view of what was originally one of Manitou Springs' main street Gold Rush hotels built in the late 1880s, the main dining area is a collection of smaller intimately arranged dining rooms, each uniquely appointed with eclectic art, decor and style.
For Valentine's Day, they will be featuring... "4-course dinner, including: a salad, cheese fondue, entree platter, and chocolate fondue. For a lighter option, we also offer all of our dishes a la carte. Our entree platters feature table-top Raclette grilling of delicious cuts of meats, seafood, sausages, and vegetables along with plenty of locally baked bread and fresh vegetables for grilling or dipping. Our desserts feature the finest chocolate from the local favorite award-winning chocolatier."
The Rabbit Hole
The Rabbit Hole is known for it's unique food options and whimsical theme, I am personally a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland, so this was one place I HAD to check out! It is a cozy little rabbit hole, located under ground in the heart of downtown Colorado Springs. Not only does their beer and wine lists have a wide variety for you to choose from, but you will love their cocktail list! I know I do!
"A refined, yet playful setting, with a customizable menu, featuring Colorado fare and exquisite cocktails. Ideal for corporate events, bridal showers, rehearsal dinners & wedding receptions - Comfortably holds up to 100 guests"

I am going to, hopefully, have some stories to share every month!
Welcome to our NEW
Monthly Mama Moments
To my mama, Nancy!
I guess I'll start it off! My mama moment-
One day, when I was about 3 or 4, I ripped the flowery wall paper right off the walls! I thought the sound it made was fun! But after a while, I realized I had ripped so much my mom would totally notice!!! So I began coloring in the white spots that had no wall paper with crayons!
Later that night, my mom walked in - and I remember holding my breath waiting to see if she would notice - my mom walked in, and gasped!
The jig was up!!! Abandon bed, abandon bed! Hit the floor!!!!!
I love you mama :]
Thank-you for not killing me.
