I can't believe the summer is already half way over!
Kids will be going back to school in just a couple weeks
and the question is....
... are you sad about that or excited ?!
Though I love Summer, there is nothing like Fall!
I can't wait for the tree colors, pumpkin everything (yes, I'm one of those girls), cute fall outfits, drinking my coffee hot again and holiday celebrations until Spring!
There are many things I am looking forward to, but what I hate is dealing with the snow when it becomes a 2 foot deep slushy *bleh* >: P
I smell Fall in the air...
Winter is coming!

Pure Water Joy's mission is to empower rural African communities and enrich lives with clean water. Pure Water Joy's founder, Keneth Simbaya, however, really sets them apart from the other clean water mission charities. This non-profit organization is led by a highly passionate native to Tanzania, working to transform the situation in Nandanga, Keneth enrolled in a college program to become a Well Technician. Born in this rural community that Pure Water Joy now serves, he is uniquely qualified to understand the myriad of issues these communities face. Pure Water Joy envisions a world where all communities in rural Africa will someday enjoy the life-changing benefits of having clean water.
The other co-founder, Leah Fenimore, personally goes to Tanzania to help dig wells and supply methods of purifying water until the well is operational.
From Life Water Straws to dissolving tablets, they are willing to accept more than just money to help bring the people living in Tanzania clean water as soon as possible!

I just wanted to make a formal announcement that I will be starting my 'Health Month' on August 1st.
Some of you may know already that I have been planning to do this, since I have spoken about it in several networking group for a few months now, but I just wanted to make it official!
Do you have any suggestions for something you think I should try, something that might benefit my health?
Leave it in the comments!
The last few years I have been dealing with a number of health problems which has made me more conscious about the way I live and what I put in (and on) my body.
A friend of mine who is vegan has been encouraging me to try veganism for sometime, though I told her I love meat too much, she challenged me to try it just for a month to see how I feel. I gave it some thought and decided it would be worth trying.
This is how I came up with this "Health Month", I decided I wanted to live like a typical 'healthy' person for a month and see how I feel and what the measurable physical difference to my body would be.
I will seek a doctor to give me a sum up of my current health status
before and after the month starts.
I will get a physical,
I will be weighed
I will measure parts of my body
I will measure the fat % and density in my body
I will have my blood drawn
Measure my blood pressure, cholesterol and caloric intake
Any other vitals will be checked
And I will take before and after pictures
When the month is over, I will do a summed up blog post where I show the before and after for all the information I collected and talk about the differences.
Most meats are contaminated!
From contaminates the animal consumed to the way the meat was treated on the butcher block. Micro-plastics, hormone injections, ammonia, antibiotics, etc. can all be found in our processed meat (and dairy products), among other things.
Eating fats from animals, besides clogging your arteries, has also been found to cause cancer. Animal fat can be especially bad for you - when your body takes in something it is unable to process and flush out of the body, like chemicals, your body will commonly store these in your fat cells - When you eat animal fat you are eating all the contaminants that creature's body couldn't get rid of.
You think you are safe because you only consume hunted game?
WRONG - as an example, there have even been cases of 'Mad Cows Disease' being found in the brains of deer.
Or, you think "Surely honey is safe!"
Most of our honey today comes from china and is riddled with contaminates as they have very low standards for processing and screening products produced there.
Over all, though I loooooove meat, the human race only evolved to eat meat due to food shortages. In this day and age, armed with today's agricultural progress and modern nutritional information, we are cable (as a species) to quit meat. The only problem is...
We are addicted to it (myself included!)
This is why I am giving veganism a try for this health month.
I read somewhere that because NOON is 'mid-day', you are supposed to have consumed 1/2 the total amount of water you should have in a day, by Noon! So if you are supposed to have eight 8oz glasses of water in a day, you should have had four glasses of water by NOON.
How much water do you think you have consumed by noon everyday?
So for this health month, I will be sticking to a strict water consumption schedule. Drinking 2 glasses of water right when I wake up, a glass of water before every meal, a glass before I brush my teeth (and have to wait 45 mins before you can drink water again because of the florid in my toothpaste), drink a glass after I go pee, a glass 30 mins before working out, a glass every time I think about snacking and a glass (I know this sounds dangerous, but) before bed (*caution* hah - but seriously, when you sleep for 8 or so hours, that is a lot of time you body is normally hydrating that you body has to go without. Plus your body is doing a lot of processing in your sleep that you need to be hydrated for, among other benefits).
Though taking supplements can provide additional nutrients when your diet is lacking or when certain health conditions cause you to develop an insufficiency or deficiency, taking dietary supplements on top of your healthy diet can also prove beneficial in ensuring your body may get the nutrients it needs each day.
Taking Daily Supplements
Among its benefits, studies show a high-protein breakfast, like having a protein shake, can ensure you receive plenty of amino acids, which suppresses your hunger hormone ghrelin, curbs your appetite, and crushes cravings. Breakfast often gets low priority among a million morning curve-balls. A protein shake provides a fast, no-brainer meal to help you stay full, focused, and fabulous all day!
Cosmetics alone can contain around 1300 different chemicals that are banned in EU and can additionally contain a lot of contaminants and additives that can also be harmful. Like Talc powder- found in many cosmetic products but is often contaminated with asbestos!
Your household cleaning products aren't any better! Not only are Government regulations inadequate on this matter, they don't require ingredients to be listed on any cleaning products, so you don't really know what kind of harmful chemicals you have come into contact with.
Conventional cleaning products pose risks such as chemical burns to the cleaner's skin and eyes, can lower air quality making it difficult to breathe while increasing the risk of developing asthma, as well as polluting our waterways. Switching to using more natural cleaners like baking soda and apple cider vinegar can cut down on costs and improve your health.
a few more things...
- Creating a meal plan
- Purposefully adding more 'super' foods to my diet
- Lowering my sugar intake to (hopefully) almost nothing
- Consuming foods that encourage my body to detox
- Taking anti-fungal and anti-parasite regiments
- Drinking less coffee (*weeping silently in the corner*)
- Consuming less Gluten/wheat based bread products
I had already cut soda pop from my life a long time ago and since then the only sugary drink I consume is coffee (sometimes orange juice in the morning or a hard cider if we are out on the town) there is not much to remove from my life in this respect. I will, however, cut down on the amount of coffee I drink in a week.
I also already steer away from dairy products, such as milk, ice cream and soft cheeses, but I will be cutting out hard cheeses and also all dairy that is baked or cook into my food as well.
No more cooking my chicken in a 1/2 inch of butter, no more cinnamon rolls with thick cream cheese icing... omg I'm going to cry lol. *cough* ANYWAY!
As you see, I will be making accommodations for this 'Health Month'.
If you have any healthy suggestions on things you believe would benefit me to add to this process PLEASE tell me in the comments! I am exploring keto diets and other things, but so far my main focus will be the things I mentioned above.
Basically, you donate 30 days worth of products for me to consume during my 'Health Month' and I will mention your business (along with your logo, contact info., links and tags) to each blog post I make about my Health Month that mentions what products I consumed, among other advertising I will also be doing on this (ask me about it!).
I look forward to hearing from you!
Happy Independence Day!
I have a flag top hat I wear, I bet you have something that spins lol.
Anyway, I dawned my usual Independence 'get-up' from the drawers and it occurred to me...
I want a beer hat!
I feel like that would just top off my 'Merica look lol.
What do you think?
*sigh* I will just have to push on today without one!
Speaking of alcohol, here are
5 Drink Recipes To Get You Star Spangle HAMMERED This 4th of July!
This drink tastes just like Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream on top!
1 bottle of Whipped Cream Vodka
1 bottle of Sparkling Apple Cider
2 shots of Fireball
1 bottle of Ginger Ale (or sprite)
7 oz (roughly) of Grenadine
1 bottle of Whipped Cream Vodka
Make it simple, make it quick and it better be strong.
Hard Apple Cider
Yup, that's it.
It's basically a Bloody Mary... but it's had it's independence and it chose beer!
1 beer of your choice (can, glass, etc.)
1 can of V8
Splash of pickle juice
And if you really want to make this fancier you can put pickle juice on the rim, mix salt, black pepper and Cajun seasoning and dust the pickle juiced rim. Of course, add a celery stick and if you want to get crazy, a strip of bacon.
Most folks like to enjoy water melon on a hot summer day, why not add booz?
1 water melon- whole, uncut
1 bottle of rum- clear rum is better for this
(you can even add a splash of strawberry syrup and a tbsp of lemon juice for a little extra flavor)
This one takes a little more prep work, but it's worth it. Cut a hole in the water melon big enough to fit a hand held beater. Blend up the pulp of the water melon and bump into a bowl. Pick out as many seeds as you can, but don't go crazy trying to get them all. Pour the rum in the bowl with the pulp and mix together with the beaters and return pulp mixture to the mother ship - er, I mean, the water melon carcass. I give up. Just pour it in. Wrap the top with wrap over the hole and put in the freezer over night, or for a few hours. The next time you go to grab it, it should be a slushy!
