O . . . M . . . G . . .
My boyfriend, Chad, and I had tried on 5 separate occasions to try Urban Steam...
This weekend, we finally got some seats!
Have you been able to try them yet?
Every-time we headed over, either the parking lot and streets around it would be full, the dining room was, or even that they had a 45 minute wait.
We had heard so many talk about how good they were and I have viewed sooo many tantalizing foodie pics on Instagram...
Finally, after visit, after visit.
We finally got seats!
It was seats at the bar, but still!
That's the closest we had ever gotten before.
(Pictured: When you first walk in the door at Urban Steam)
We ordered the french toast, with blueberries & lemon curds, and the 'Red, White, and Blue' waffle, which was topped with strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream.
It was all delicious!
The coffee was great and the food was great, honestly, my only complaint is that they need a larger location!!!
This was the first time in a long time
that we didn't have a doggy bag!
I hope you are able to stop by some time :]

Happy New Years!!!
' New Year,
New YOU . '
" Wishes For A New Year "
By John P. Read
" Brush away old heartaches.
Learn from our mistakes.
Another year is finally over.
A new dawn awakes.
Let the old year out.
Welcome the new one in.
Bury the bad things of the past
As a new year now begins.
Make your New Year wishes
As simple as you can.
Pray for peace and love,
Not for wealth or fame.
Pray for health and happiness.
Pray for your fellow man.
Pray for all the ones you love.
Pray for those who've lost their way.
As the midnight hour chimes,
We leave the old and embrace the new.
I wish the things you wish for yourself,
And may God’s love stay with you. "
As we all try to remember the multitude of things we decided to make a 'resolution'
while we were enjoying the champagne.
I decided on mine the next morning haha
Now that my LLC is in effect
(as of the 1st!)
I have a few things on my check list for this year that I hope I complete for my businesses :]
I'm not shooting too high this year...
Last year I put things like...
Learn to Swing Dance-
Be able to write my name with both hands-
. . . you know . . .
Those things that we think we can fit in but never do lol.
News Years is not only the celebration of the coming year
but it is also mine and Chad's anniversary!
We had a quiet dinner together at home,
the works ;]
What did YOU do to celebrate the
Go to a party?
Throw your own maybe?
Did you go for the champagne or sparkling cider?
Happy New Year!!!
We are launching into the new year and there are so many moments I wish I could live over again from this past year. Here are some of my favorites-
We had a lot of fun together this past year,
tell me what you have been up to in between our events!
Locals We Love | December Edition
Speaking of having fun at our events...
Here are the details from December's
Last Bash of the Year Holiday Party at The Social!
It was a smaller get together due to a detail falling through,
we were unable to have event family friendly but I will work on planning a little more ahead for next year! Hopefully, I will get a venue that are able to accommodate for children for next year.
But this seemed to be the only hiccup for the night!
We had a great time, networking and eating chips 'n salsa!
Before the karaoke started, we announced the winners of the raffle for the night!
Here's a recap in case you missed it on Facebook-
If you heard your name and haven't been contacted about receiving a prize,
Email Elise@HousewivesInTheCity.com to arrange receiving a raffle prize at the upcoming event.
We were honored to spotlight the
Griffith Centers for Children Chins Up
Check out this blog if you want to read all about them :]
for the month of December!
I was helping them go through their Christmas presents when I got the idea . . .
Let's have a wrapping party!
The next thing I know, we have piles of toys to sort and wrap!
All the ladies started wrapping, even Santa Claus himself joined in!
Oh yeah, we got a Santa ;]
Whoever helped wrap presents for the Griffith Centers would get to take pictures with Santa!
It was a neat little addition that helped get the ball rolling, but after that, folks were staying to wrap 2 or 3 toys!
We even had one lady donate 5 toys to the Griffith Centers!
After we all connected, shopped, wrapped, and rub a few elbows it was time to hit the dance floor! The Karaoke was starting!
The Social hosts a Karaoke night every Wednesday at 9pm, but they started early just for us!
I had fun hanging with the gals until almost midnight!
Had to pack up FAST and get home!
But I do want to get you in touch with those awesome businesses we featured for our

So, how the process works...
Nikole had me in at Abbey Lane Salon
for an initial consultation to assess me and my 'issue'.
She asked me a few health questions and had me fill out some paper work.
After discussing how everything typically goes, Nikole sent me home with a pre-care sheet to go over until my procedure date.
She checks and rechecks everything before beginning and will check again and do a touch up before letting you leave!
She even throws in a FREE session for your first touch up after your procedure and offers the rest after that with the lowest rates in Colorado!

We have Kathrine Switzer to thank for breaking through the barrier for us! Personally, I'm not a runner, but I know lots of women who LOVE to run and compete regularly. If it wasn't for Kathrine Switzer, the first official female marathon runner, who knows when women would have been allowed to compete. Thank you, Kathrine, for helping us become one more step towards equality!
Here's the story...
She always loved running but was never able to compete. Even her coach insisted that running a marathon was too far of a run for a "fragile woman". After that fire was lit, she was determined to compete in the 1967 Boston Marathon! Entering under the number 261, she trained and COMPLETED the marathon. But not without a fight! A race official, Jock Semple, actually tried to stop her by attempting to grab her bib number right off her body during the race!
(Pictured: Kathrine Switzer running the Boston Marathon, Jock Semple trying to remove her number and Thomas Miller pushing Jock away)
Kathrine wasn't the only woman running in this race though, Miss Bobbi Gibb ran in this race as well. Bobbi had crashed the race and ran unregistered and even completed the race an hour ahead of Kathrine! However, despite Bobbi's great time, it's remarkable that Kathrine was able to register at all and she will be forever immortalized as the first official female runner.
Because of Kathrine's run, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) barred women from all competitions with male runners and any violators would lose the right to compete in ANY race. Kathrine, along with other female runners, tried to convince the Boston Athletic Association to allow women to participate in the Marathon but weren't successful until 1972 that women were officially allowed. Since that day in 1967, she has worked to improve running opportunities for women and continues that work to this day.
"When I go to the Boston Marathon now, I have wet shoulders from women who fall into my arms crying. They're weeping for joy because running has changed their lives. They feel they can do anything."
Kathrine says she understands the gravity of her participation and accomplishment but I'm sure she will never fully understand how grateful female runners are to her for breaking through for them and allowing for future female participation in marathons around the world.
She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 2011 for creating a social revolution by empowering women around the world!
"I knew if I quit, nobody would ever believe that women had the capability to run 26-plus miles. If I quit, Jock Semple and all those like him would win."
- Kathrine Switzer, The Nation (2013)
