*This is NOT a sponsored post. These are truly just a few of my favorite things.
As we get older, life can get -- mundane. I mean, why were we so excited to grow up??? To pay bills and go to work and to battle traffic and to do laundry? Don't get me wrong: I love my life. But sometimes we need a little "fun" incorporated into our daily routines. That's where these websites come in. When I get tired of putting away dishes or reconciling my bank account, I head to these sites for a little pick-me-up.
A former-student-turned-friend got me hooked on this website (thanks Karly). I now check out JANE almost every day for new deals. It is full of cute, funky, fun things for relatively cheap. Before the holidays, I ordered an Elf Kisses kit for my son to assemble and give to his teachers. The kit came with 20 little bags, 20 personalized stickers to label the bags, and 200+ mini stickers that fit on the bottom of Hershey Kisses. All I had to do was buy the kisses and have my kids put together the bags. They came out SO cute.
I know I could've printed those myself but, honestly, I am not that clever and not that patient. It was way cooler to pay $5 and get them in the mail.
I ordered a few other items from Jane.com for Christmas -- and everything was really great. The shipping didn't take too long (they all come from different retailers) and the website tracked everything for me.
It's fun to see what new things they have available. Check it out. And feel free to buy me that cute leopard print sweatshirt...
Anyone who knows me, knows I love my RocksBox. I should get paid by them for all of the free advertising I do...but alas, I don't. One of many subscription services, RocksBox is really a great deal. They send you three pieces of medium-priced jewelry (think Kate Spade, Kendra Scott, House of Harlow, Perry Street) in each shipment. The cost per month is $19 but you can get as many boxes as you like because whenever you send one box back, another comes in a few days. There have been times when they missed the mark or the jewelry wasn't right for me, and I sent it back immediately. Four days later I got another box. I have also kept pieces for months. There is no deadline to returning the jewelry...they just send little passive-aggressive emails about "are you ready to refresh your set yet?"
They now allow you to see what's in your set before they send it -- and you can swap out pieces before they mail them to you. If your stylist picks something you don't like, you get to pick what you want from a list of choices. You also have a Wish List you can curate. If you like the jewelry, you can buy it at a reduced price with your monthly "shine credit". I've gotten quite a few decent pieces for reasonable prices.
Since starting in 2014, I have never had anything that has been broken or tarnished. Everything is in excellent condition, packaged perfectly, and shipped quickly. Right now I am loving this Ava Rose necklace and trying to decide if I am going to keep it. But until then....I'll just keep borrowing it! That's the beauty of RocksBox!
If you enjoy reading on your Kindle, check out Book Bub. I stumbled across this site a few years ago and have gotten so many books for really, really cheap. Each day they highlight new deals. Sometimes the books are .99, $1.99, or $2.99 -- and sometimes they have free ones. You put in the genres you enjoy and they send you the deals. My secret? If I am not sure if I am going to like it or if I am not ready to read a new book, I click on it anyway. From there it takes me to the Amazon website where I can download a sample. This way I can remember the book and I can check it out before I buy it. I know, I know....$3 for a book is a bargain, but I still can't make myself spend that money if I am not going to like it or read it.
Needless to say, I have tons of SAMPLES waiting for me on my "bookshelf". Through this website, I have found so many books that I would never have discovered on my own.
What are your favorite "fun" websites to escape reality for a bit? Give me some more reasons to procrastinate and share them below!
Hi. My name is Kelley Cole and I am the new Social Media and Event Coordinator for Delaware Housewives in the City. I am a mom to two amazing kids. My daughter (P) is 12 and my son (T) is 8. My husband works for a local education association and also serves on Dover's City Council. I was a high school English teacher for 16 years before leaving the classroom to work part-time as a trainer for an educational software company. I make sure I reserve time to play tennis, read chick lit, travel, and enjoy the small things in life (like wine and chocolate).
