Ellis Park is celebrating 95 years this year and I am proud to say I have been going for almost 40 of those as it has always been a family tradition. My parents started taking me to the horse track at a very early age and I truly fell in love with it….the thrill and excitement is simply awesome! We have even had the opportunity to sponsor many horses over the years and felt the love standing in the Winners Circle with the owner, horse and jockey…so much fun!
It has been so amazing to see this place grow over the years...adding event space, off track betting and more recently…slot machines! From July 1-September 4, 2017, they are giving you $10 in free slot play just for signing up for an Ellis Park Players Club card…and the card is Free!
Some of the fan favorite special events that take place are the Camel and Ostrich Races on July 8th and of course, those adorable Weiner Dog Races on August 5th and 26th! Also, the Food Truck Day is on July 28th! And, be sure to check out their Dollar Days and Free Admission Days throughout the year, to save some money!
To keep our family tradition going, I now take my 8 year old son to this wonderful place. As we sat there eating corn dogs and lemon shake ups, he turned to me and said “go place a bet on #3 and #5 horse on this race” I asked him if he wanted me to do a show ticket. He looked at me and said “no, mom go ahead and box it” hahahaha I think we will be coming here for Many more years to come as now this little man loves horse racing as much as I do! Thank you Ellis Park for family fun close to home!
Hi! I’m Karen…I was born and raised in a small town in southern Indiana…Santa Claus! I lived in Indianapolis for 20 years as an Event Planner and traveled the nation planning corporate events and private parties. Five years ago, I moved back to beautiful southern Indiana to be closer to family. I am married with a beautiful 8 year old son, named Baron. I also own an Event Planning Business in the Tristate and am constantly looking at ways to market my business and network and fell in love with the concept of Housewives In The City!
