Hey, Girl, Hey!
So lets just get into this! What have we learned? Listening to our hair is a MAJOR KEY and through research finding the proper products is what brings the life into our hair. So now lets talk products! Personally I only use a few products and I typically don't vary because they what work for my hair, they bring mega moisture to my hair so why fix it if it ain't broke ya know?? If and when I do change products it's because I have changed shampoo and conditioner but my main products will remain the same unless my hair says differently. So In my latest natural hair routine, this is what I use for my hair, in this order;
Pre-poo: Oil Mix + Water: I mix several different oils (avocado, grape seed, extra virgin olive, black caster, peppermint, and tea tree) I mix them in a color bottle and shake, shake, shake. Some use coconut oil to pre-poo, others use conditioner, whichever should still help you achieve the same results. I just personally like my mix. I simply section my hair into four sections, wet and detangle from ends to root, coat my hair making sure to baby my ends and depending upon what I am doing I will put a plastic bag and my bonnet on, I might do a 30 min pre-poo or it might be 12 hours, lol. It just depends on the mood.
*Side note* Even when I go to the salon now, I make sure to pre-poo my hair. it just seals in so much moisture and helps with length retention.
Shampoo & Hair Mask: *Disclaimer* the products I use are a little costly but do your research! Pacifica Pineapple Curls(Curl Defining)Shampoo and Pacifica Pineapple Hydrate Curl Nourishing Mask. If you go to purchase these products DO NOT and I mean DO NOT purchase the Pacifica Pineapple Nourishing Curls Conditioner. It re-dries and the hair and makes it completely unmanageable. Personally I deep condition with every wash, some will say you don't have to with every wash, I say natural hair thrives on moisture so it cant hurt. To each her own, mmmmmmkay!
Mask #2: Garnier Fructis Smoothing Treat 1 minute Hair Mask + Avocado extract. Now, I do not use both hair masks in my hair, I use this one when I feel like it and because I'm trying to save my other mask since it was on clearance at Target and is now gone. =(. I love this product because I can use it as a two-in-one! I can use it as a deep conditioner (1 minute or longer) and I have also used it as a one product wash-n-go.
The PERFECT TWIST OUT: Here's what I use to achieve the PERFECT TWIST OUT, these products have never failed me and I believe they NEVER will! The order they are listed is the order in which I use them.
Shea Moisture Sugarcane Extract & Meadowfoam Seed Silicone Free Miracle Style Leave-In Treatment w/ Marshmallow Root + Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie + Carol's Daughter Hair Honey Mimosa.
I know you're reading this like... That's it... YES SIS THAT IS LITERALLY IT! I have used these three simple products for a wash-n-go plus some eco, twist out, braid out, bantu knot out out and most recently a roller set. The products never fail me and my hair is always left feeling moisturized and is always defined!
Part 4 Lets talk Length Retention,
RivALZ began in the fall of 2005 as Blondes vs. Brunettes®, a flag football event founded by a group of professional women: Sara Abbott, Andrea Rodgers, Kristyn Noeth, Kate Stukenberg and Meredith Riddle Chastang. The founders of the event have a personal connection to Alzheimer’s and designed the event to drive awareness among a younger audience while raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Since the inaugural game in Washington, D.C., the event has grown to more than 40 cities, raising more than $5 million and bringing thousands of new supporters to the cause.
Alzheimer's Association RivALZ is a volunteer-driven event that engages young professionals in friendly but fierce flag football games around the country. As part of the competition, teams are organized around age-old rivalries — East vs. West, Blondes vs. Brunettes, City vs. Suburbs — that inspire fundraising, awareness and action in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
In 2014, to accommodate nationwide growth, “Blondes vs. Brunettes” grew into “RivALZ,” empowering participants to choose the rivalry around which to organize their teams. The funds raised through RivALZ benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
We would like to Thank the ladies of RivALZ for partcipating in this months Girls Night Out! If you or someone you know would like to participate or donate to RivALZ Click the Link Below! Lets Fight together to beat Alzheimer's Disease!
Hi my name is Charlii and I am a product whore, junkie or whatever you want to call it. I LOVE HAIR PRODUCTS!!! So I had to put myself on a product line purchasing limit b/c there are just so many but I need to slow down and use up what I have or throw some stuff away so I can make room for new lovlies! I have tried so many different products, Shea Moisture, Cantu, RedKin, Curls, and Pureology, just to name a few.
When I first went natural Cantu's Leave-in Conditioner was a holy grail product for me but as my hair grew so did its preferred taste in products. How did I know my hair was out growing the Cantu leave-in? My hair was no longer feeling soft, it became hard to manage and my styles were not coming out the way they use to. This is what I mean when I said listening to your hair is a MAJOR KEY. Know when products are changing, noticing that your hair is changing, and know when its time to grade or switch up your products. I'm not saying you have to break the bank to have good looking hair but you want to love on and care for your strands so they will be happy and healthy.
Next I went for the Shea Moisture line and it also worked for a few but it too started to change and my hair was saying singing "no,no,no,no,no". I tried dang near every line Shea Moisture had to offer but it was all a no go, my hair was still left feeling, dry. That's how it ended up with all the products, I would deep condition, hot oil treat, and my hair would be alright for a minute but I found myself manipulating it entirely too much. Then I attended the best school ever, Youtube University, lol.
Pt. 3 My product finds on Youtube and how they saved my hair.
*Disclaimer: I do not use the products in the photos*

I am often asked how to I get my hair so curly, how do I achieve the Perfect Twist Out, Bantu Knot Out, Roller Set, and etc. Well I am here to give you my personal tips and tricks to a bomb twist out, healthy hair, length retention! This will be a series so be sure to stay tuned as I hip you to what I do and exactly how I do it!. I will preface this by saying I am NOT nor WILL I EVER BE a hair stylist. These tips and tricks are what I have seen work for me and I am just trying to help all my curl friends achieve their hair goals.
First and foremost I listen closely to my hair. This is a MAJOR KEY ALERT! Do you hear what your hair is telling you? Do you know what products your hair hates vs what it loves? I have high-porosity hair. Meaning products do not just sit on my strands they completely soak up water oils and whatever else I put in it. I also touch my hair, not in a manipulation sense but I touch my hair a few days after washing to see how much oil is still left on my hair before it starts to feel unbearably dry. This tells me when I should touch up my hair so it can remain soft and manageable, because lets face it.. who wants dry brittle hair??
I am a product junkie. I do my research on what products work best for my hair type and porosity. You have to be okay with the possibility of wasting money BUT if you do your research right you wont have to worry.
