For the next 15 days, the world's best athletes will be completing in Rio de Janerio, Brazil for Olympic stardom. After a long athletic career myself, I can somewhat appreciate the countless sacrifices, setbacks, and successes that these athletes have experiences on their "Road to Rio."
Now that my training days are long-gone, I can afford to celebrate in a much different way - with sangria! This recipe is perfect for sharing at your upcoming Rio 2016 viewing party, or to serve at an end-of-summer cookout with family or friends. In my opinion, it's definitely gold medal-worthy!
- 1 bottle of sweet white wine (I use Cupcake Vineyard's Moscato D'Asti)
- 1 bottle champagne
- 1/4 cup orange liqueur (I use Cointreau)
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup strawberries (sliced)
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1 orange (sliced whole)
Combine all ingredients (expect champagne) and chill for 3-4 hours. About 30 minutes before you are ready to serve, add in the champagne.
If you like your sangria sweeter, add honey or 1/4 cup raw sugar. If you prefer a less-sweet version, add 1/2 a lemon or select a drier white wine.
For a non-alcoholic version, replace the orange liquor with 1 cup orange juice, and replace the wine/champagne with either sparking grape juice or flavored sparkling water (I use LaCroix).
Hey y'all I'm Jennifer and I"ll be hosting Girls Nights Out, daytime meet-ups and other exciting events for Housewives in the City here in K-Town! Although I was born in Bristol, TN, my dad's job had us living in 11 states within 7 years! We bounced around as far north as Pennsylvania and as far south as Alabama before relocating to Knoxville in 1989. I tried moving away when my husband's job took us up north but nope, it just didn't stick- back to Knoxville I came and here I will stay! I have 3 fantastic kiddos and I have been known to enjoy bacon...on my bacon! Now, as far as Knoxville goes, you probably know that A) Around here football season is a 5th season- Go Vols! B) We take being "Scruffy" very seriously and C) It is a town full of amazing people-especially the ladies! So come on out to one of our events, meet some amazing women, have a great time and be sure to say "Hey Jen!"
