🎶 Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh, chubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff. He's Winnie the….. 🎶
Who doesn’t love happy go lucky Pooh bear?! Over the weekend I got to take AJ to see Winnie the Pooh at Adventure Theatre MTC in Glen Echo Park. Can you believe I have actually never seen a show there and AJ is almost 6 years old! However, I do feel like he was at THE. PERFECT. age to sit through the perfectly timed hour long show and actually understand the story and the little lessons weaved into it and I am SO glad we finally went! It’s so stinkin’ adorable!
The Adventure Theatre has been putting on shows for so many years and produces several professional family productions annually. Mostly all that are stage adaptations of popular children's literature and stories. This small intimate theatre also offers autism/sensory-friendly performances. Past shows have included, Blueberries for Sal, Fancy Nancy’s Slendiferous Christmas and Huckleberry Finn’s Big River.
This performance of Winnie the Pooh captures the true joy of Pooh and I can honestly say as an adult, I laughed out loud right with the kids. Winnie the Pooh and Piglet are on an adventure to catch a Heffalump, help Rabbit scheme to get rid of Kanga and her dreaded bathtub and help Eeyore find his oh so lost tail. The actors have exceptional singing voices and truly do an amazing job at engaging the audience of all ages, young and old.
Here are a few tips before you go:
Bobby's Burger Palace (known as "BBP") of Westfield Montgomery Mall isn't your average burger spot. Bobby Flay redesigned the burger game with guests in mind; offering fresh, natural, made-in-house burgers, malt milk shakes, hand cut fries and more. It's "feel good", American comfort food that is creative, delicious and high quality. The best part is that it is priced modestly; making it an affordable option for nearly all families. As you continue along with your holiday shopping at Westfield Montgomery, make sure to dine in at BBP so that you can share in my delicious experience!!
HERE'S WHY... #1. Get your photo taken with Bobby Flay!
#2. QUALITY THAT KEEPS GUESTS COMING BACK:
*High-quality ingredients - certified angus beef
*Meats are never-frozen
*Food is made-to-order each time
*No microwaved or pre-formed patties here! And let's face it... Not all burgers have to be patties leaking with unnecessary amounts of grease to be tasty! BBP shows that it is possible to curb the excess grease and calories without sacrificing the flavor.
#3. SERVING UP THE SPICE OF LIFE --> VARIETY
BBP serves up more than a dozen signature burgers, sweet potato fries and even buttermilk battered onion rings. In addition to their standard, signature menu, Bobby's Burger Palace features their "Flavors of the Month" burger and milkshake that are a welcome addition to keep the menu fresh and new.
And because it is not ALWAYS about the burger (though it should be, in my beefy opinion...), Bobby's Burger Palace also offers chicken sandwiches. Not carnivorous? Try their gourmet veggie burgers (with wild mushrooms, chickpeas & quinoa) or their Griddled Cheese. Gluten free? No problem, because Bobby's got you covered too with "Topless" burgers; served over baby greens with balsamic dressing. The serve options for the most discerning palettes and according to nearly any dietary restriction!
MY LUNCH BREAK DONE RIGHT!
I recently dined there for a lunch date and was blown away by a fully appealing burger experience. I loved the super mod, trendy restaurant motif. The space was clean, wide open; drawing attention to oversized, bright signs showcasing their wide selection of burgers & shakes. I have to admit that I definitely overanalyzed the menu options before landing on my burger of choice: the L.A. Burger; a certified angus beef patty topped with avocado relish, watercress, tomato and cheddar cheese. That was accompanied by "The Undecided"; my choice of two sides. I chose their sweet potato fries with a horseradish honey mustard sauce and buttermilk onion rings with their ranch dipping sauce.
I washed it all down with their thick, rich caramel apple milkshake; topped with homemade whipped cream. My date chose the October Flavor of the Month: The Pacific Northwest Burger -- a beef patty topped with white American cheese, cremini mushrooms and red wine-BBQ sauce. What a burger! Add a side of hand-cut fries smothered with cheese and a cookies-n-cream shake and we were both in heaven. With so many different items on the menu and new monthly features, the combinations are nearly limitless. I'm already thinking about what my next burger run will feature. One thing is for sure: there's no way I'd omit the sweet potato fries or the buttermilk battered onion rings... even if it means actually using my gym membership!

CARS 3 “Road to the Races” tour
Downtown Silver Spring; one of many stops on the national tour happening in anticipation of the new CARS 3 movie. Road to the Races, a nationwide tour invited fans of #95 to gear up for the upcoming big-screen release of Disney Pixar’s “Cars 3”; which took place yesterday, June 16! If you haven’t seen this movie, I recommend that you bring your family to this fantastic flick.
Title sponsors, namely Title Sponsors Include Alamo Rent A Car, Coppertone®, Crest®/Oral-B®, DOLE® and Mattel, provided fun activities that little guests participated in throughout the day.
Fans took part in a host of activities and had the opportunity to partake in a photo shoot with life-size, character look-alikes of five-time Piston-Cup champion Lightning McQueen, tech-savvy Cruz Ramirez and the sleek next-gen racer Jackson Storm! The kiddos contributed to a CARS 3 wall mural courtesy of Alamo Rent A Car, got the insight of being part of a pit crew courtesy of Coppertone®, created digital postcards and spun the “wheel of fortune” courtesy of Crest®/Oral-B, refueled on fruit and veggie smoothies courtesy of DOLE® and played in an interactive display of CARS 3 characters courtesy of Mattel.
Photos below show some of the excitement shared by my son, his friend and hundreds of kiddos that came out to this spectacular free event.
For details on the movie, please scroll below the photos. Let’s just say that Cars 3 the Movie turned out to be another brilliant movie by Disney Pixar. It’s definitely a great start to the summer for your family. Lightening McQueen is not packing up his bags just yet. And I loved the introduction of Cruz Ramirez! Great movie received

Montgomery County, one of the wealthiest counties in the United States, just got a little richer with the opening of Lucky Strike at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, MD on March 4. What’s not to love about a new hot spot offering a constructive pastime: BOWLING? This exciting, new addition to Montgomery Mall is where a dignified study boasting leather tufted sofas, rustic wooden tables and shelves full of hand-bundled books intersects with trendy details like vibrant lighting and glistening, sleek bowling lanes. Adding to the interestingly eclectic mix are playful uniforms donning the words “feeling lucky?” on fitted T’s.

I had the courtesy to attend the VIP Grand Opening Party celebrating Lucky Strike’s 17th alley, courtesy of Sage Communications, this past weekend. The Grand Opening Party ran like a well-oiled machine, despite the depth of guests within. Smiling servers circled with trays of their delicious bites (truffle deviled eggs, twice-cooked Belgium Fries with aoli, sushi and brick-oven pizzas) to wash down an array of drinks from their full-service bar. Music from their DJ paired harmoniously with sounds of laughter and socializing, as bowling ball after bowling ball smacked against pins across twelve lanes. Editor-in-Chief Steve Hull of Bethesda Magazine recognized Steven Foster, the LA-based owner of Lucky Strike, Bethesda General Manager Michael Jones and team for their commitment to making Montgomery County “a better place to work, live and play”. You’ll want to get in there soon to experience the fun for yourself!
What makes Lucky Strike so Special?
Lucky Strike is rightfully, self-described as an “immersive” experience. Each facet of the product and ambiance draws in its guests and fully envelopes them into a premier, sophisticated entertainment experience. Furthermore, their “A2Kitchen’s distinctive concept places the sophistication of a chef-driven restaurant and full-service mixologist bar amidst the stimulating atmosphere of art, music and an energetic crowd. A2K provides Lucky Strike with a gastropub dining experience.” You can pretty much sum it up with: great food, drinks, ambiance and overall experience; all in one package!
From an easy-going lunch with colleagues, a delicious happy hour or a decadent weekend brunch to a night out with the girls and even that smoking hot date night; my recent visit to Brickside illustrates precisely why it's the perfect culinary formula for any occasion.
Culinary Expertise and Premium Cocktails + A Welcoming Atmosphere = Brickside Perfection
REINVENTING THE MENU... DELICIOUSLY!
Meet Chef Matt Smith. Chef Smith's sole purpose in transitioning from Baltimore's "Salt" to lead the Brickside culinary team was to apply his extensive learnings from high-end establishments and elevate Brickside's menu from normal bar fare to extraordinarily tasty and creative cuisine. Needless to say, he didn't miss the mark on anything I had the pleasure of tasting; accompanied by fellow bloggers and the lovely ladies of Linda Roth PR.
Chef Smith seamlessly combines multiple flavor profiles in extraordinary ways. Their in-house smoker creates depth of flavor and Chef Smith takes pride in all of the elements of the menu; prepared in-house -- from pickled vegetables and hand-made pastas to cured ham, smoked meats and the creamiest grits I've ever tasted!
Chef Matthew Smith started us off with a duet of crostinis; the first is the most amazing smoked salmon I've ever tasted (if all smoked salmon could just taste this delicious, I could stop saying that "I don't like smoked salmon"). It was complimented most beautifully in a subtle twist on "lox and bagels"; finished with arugula and capers. The second crostini was piled with a "tapenade" of eggplant with smoked cherries and pine nuts, atop a flavorful, whipped ricotta. Both were just the beginning of a seemingly unending feast that could be classified as nothing less than "the best of the best".
MORE AND MORE
Our next course of this Fall-inspired menu consisted of Dr. Pepper Steak Tacos, Fried Brussel Sprouts, Beef Empanadas and Pig And Pickles. The soda-infused carne asada was the most tender steak that I've tasted. The syrup was flavorful, decadent and added just the right amount of sweetness. The brussel sprouts were deep fried goodness; deliciously accompanied by the sweetness of the golden raisins and almond slivers. The Empanadas were stuffed with flavorful chunks of chorizo and paired with homemade Chimichurri. Finally, their luscious pork belly was served with a variety of house-made pickled vegetables; which I could eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner... for the rest of my life.
The appetizers were followed up with a refreshing salad, Roasted Beet Carpaccio, and seasonally appropriate Butternut Squash Soup. The carpaccio was paired with fresh orange segments, arugula and goat cheese covered in a house-made blend of seasonings. The squash soup was topped with creamy goat cheese and candied pecans.
At this point, my stomach was more than content, but my tastebuds were screaming for more yumminess: Pork Belly And Kale Pasta and Brickside Shrimp And Grits also hit a high note on my list. Once again, the Pork Belly was deliciously moist and balanced well against the garlic and kale flavors. The house-cured Tasso ham and shrimp butter took their Carolina grits (the best grits I have ever tasted) to the next level.
Dinner wouldn't be complete without the selection of a featured beverage from their anti-prohibition cocktail menu. I chose the Lemon Ginger Martini; ginger liquor, fresh lemon juice and agave nectar which was recommended by our server. In summation, Brickside deserves more than just an appearance on your culinary "bucket list". It belongs on your must-frequent list. The menu is full of surprises and changes seasonally; ideal for any occasion! Make sure to head over to Brickside to try the Fall menu for yourself and relax in their comfortable, fun restaurant.
BRICKSIDE IS MORE THAN JUST GREAT FOOD
According to a a previous article by the Washington Post, Brickside is "a bar that has sports, rather than a sports bar". The Chef and knowledgeable service staff reiterated their commitment to accommodating a variety of entertainment; from news and debates to sports games and many other subjects in between. Given the combination of eight 50" plasma TV's and a 13' HD projector, multiple parties can be catered to at the same time.
