As a professional fashion jewelry stylist, Karen Shillieto helps her clients discover the perfect accessories to look fabulous and stylish without breaking the bank. Karen operates under two guiding principles:
Karen has deep roots in sales, customer service and leadership development. She began her career in direct sales when her children "were just babies". Seeking adult interaction and a source of income to help pay for life's extras, she entered into the DS arena. What began with educational children's toys, transitioned into home decor, with a final destination of her deepest passion: jewelry. "No other industry offers the kind of flexibility that direct sales can offer and with a paycheck of your choice. I have always worked part time hours; allowing me precious time with my family". Her special touch with customers has been the driving force for her customers to support her through each company she's represented.
Along the way Karen has trained and motivated many women to reach their own goals. Karen describes herself as a happy person and she chooses to be happy everyday. "It doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty. Either way, I know that the glass is refillable so I can always keep going strong".
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
My greatest professional achievement has been the satisfaction that comes from having helped my customers over the years make good investments; first for their children, then for their homes and now for themselves. I have assisted many women in growing their own business and I've watched with pride as they promoted through organizations and achieved their goals. While I have also been blessed by earnings and awards, they pale in comparison to the pride I feel in knowing I do a good job for everyone I work with.
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
During the next six months I am building my online business as well as expanding my virtual personal styling consultations. I am launching my Facebook Group: Effortless Style with Blingy Karen Shillieto. This group will focus on developing confidence with your personal style and provide a fun, environment to play dress up in a virtual setting. I will also be launching a blog companion piece.
How does your company stay connected through social media?
You'll find Karen all over social media sharing her bling and cheer!

How do you maintain a work/life balance?
I schedule everything, including my personal "appointments" on my gmail calendar. Gym time, exercising and healthy eating are key to keeping everything going. If I take care of me, I can take care of the everything. I also schedule my networking events and client appointments to keep organized. Although I enjoy the flexibility of 'standing bookings' for my hair and nail services, I make sure I fit them in as well. Coffee with my husband every morning is vital to my day. And of course, vacations are vital. I recharge through planned, week-long vacations three times a year: a beach trip, one bucket list trip and one family trip.
What websites do you visit every day?
Currently I'm more active with Facebook, but I use a lot of mobile apps to keep my business running.
What is your favorite drink – and where can you find it?
This summer its Tom Collins that I've been making with my homemade lavendar lemon syrups. In restaurants I usually order a mojito or a speciality cocktail that the restaurant offers. Nobody makes a Tom Collins like I do, except my husband who has proved to be a great student.
What is your goal for retirement?
Why retire when you love what you do?
Do you have any advice for women who would like to start their own company?
