This weekend is TAX FREE WEEKEND! This is a great time to go back to school shopping, update your wardrobe, or get that computer that you have been wanting! The nice thing about tax free weekend is that on top of the fact that you do not get charged sales tax (automatic savings of 9.75%), most stores also offer other sales to go along with the savings!
Make sure you check to see what extra savings your favorite stores are offering and if they have extended hours this weekend! Happy Shopping!
Over the last few week's the weather has been insanely hot. I do not know about you, but personally just walking to the car has been down right miserable. This weekend my 3 year old convinced us to take him to Ava's Splash Pad in Mt Juliet on Saturday and we had a great time! There is nothing like staying cool while playing in the water. I know that both boys absolutely loved it! There were so many fun water activities to do and it was perfect both both ages. While Preston (age 1) enjoyed the water coming out of the ground and putting his hands in it, Braden (age 3) really enjoyed running though all the water sprayers and being as silly as possible. If you haven't been yet I would highly recommend it. Plus, there is always a lifeguard on duty when the Splash Pad is open.
Huge thank you to Aloft West End for hosting us! We had a great turn out at our July GNO event! I met so many wonderful ladies and I cannot wait to see you all again in August! Thank you all for your participation and attendance!
We also had some amazing vendors this month! If you werent able to make it out this month, dont worry I have listed all of their contact information below! Please feel free to connect with them. Im sure they would love to hear from you!

I have lived in Nashville off and on my entire life. So being a native Nashvillian it is only fitting to have country music in your blood. The Country Music Hall of Fame has always intrigued me but I had never visited. Since it has been a pretty hot summer we are constantly looking for things to do and for places to go and get out of the house for a little bit. So why not take advantage of one of the places that carries so much history.
I was impressed that when you first get off the elevator to start your self guided tour that they have a kids section. The lady offered for my 3 year old to make a piece of art to add to the quilt that they were making on the wall. They also had a "Be an Explorer" section where children could pick activities to do while at the museum, including Scavenger Hunts and Activity Sheets.
The Country Music Hall of Fame had a little bit of everything from the classic/original artists to the new/current artists. The experience was very interactive and well put together. They showcased clothing worn by the artists, listening stations, and even a recording studio where you could record yourself singing. There was something for every age to enjoy.
Make sure you check out their new program called Community Counts. This program highlights several ways that locals can get FREE or Discounted admission into the Country Music Hall of Fame, including:

I can not remember the last time me and my husband went and did anything without our kids in tow. Yesterday we decided to enjoy the afternoon just the two of us.
We enjoyed the afternoon watching the US take on Panama in the Gold Cup! We had the opportunity to go on the field and watch the teams warm up before the game and then were able to enjoy the game from our amazing seats. My soccer knowledge does not go beyond a 3 years old soccer game, but I was thoroughly impressed with the soccer fans and their love for the game. It was spectacular listening to the crowd chant USA after our team scored a goal. Although the game ended in a tie, it was an exciting game.
After the game, we headed downtown to check into our hotel for the night. We stayed at the Union Station Hotel on Broadway. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning! The hotel itself is actually a restored 19th century railroad station that was renovated and turned into a boutique hotel in 1986.
Last night we decided to go explore Downtown Nashville. Even though we live so close to Downtown we do not ever get the opportunity to go and explore and enjoy the city as adults. It was so nice and relaxing just being able to walk around and enjoy everything that Nashville has to offer.
Then this morning, after being able to sleep in past 6 am. We decided to go check out a Nashville favorite, Biscuit Love. My husband has been dying to go there for years but there is always a line out the door and with two kids that equals disaster. So we got to stand in line this am and got to see for ourselves why everyone loves this local eatery.
Taking the time for ourselves this weekend was one of the best decision that we have made in a long time. I am learning more and more that you have to carve time out for yourself. It was refreshing to be able to live in the moment last night and take the time to remember why we fell in love. It has been over 3 years since taking a night to ourselves and after last night I can guarantee we will be planning another night out in the not so distant future.
Housewives in the City teamed up with Piper Layne to host a giveaway for a Utility Tote ($59 Value)! The utility tote is a great way to carry things and for on the go! With the open top it makes it so easy to just toss what you need inside, pick up, and go!
I was so excited when I got home to see a slim, nicely packaged box on my front porch! When you open your Piper Layne Box with your bag you will receive a cardboard slip that gives you information on Piper Layne and that also highlights steps for how you can receive a Free top cover for you brand new utility tote.
The thing that I first noticed was the heavy material that the utility tote was made of. This material is very industrial and even with two boys I know my tote will be around for a long time. I love that they are collapsible for easy storage and they can be thrown over your shoulder with the shoulder straps or can carry it using the side handles. But I will have to say that my favorite feature of the bag is that it is attached to the frame with strong velcro, which means you can take it off the frame and throw it in the wash! Yes, you heard me right it is Machine Washable!! How great is that! They have a great selection of fun bold prints to choose from.
Piper Layne is also offering an exclusive discount code to Housewives in the City followers. Enter the code "Cool In The City" at checkout and receive a FREE cooler insert with the purchase of a utility tote!
We are giving away a Piper Layne Utility Tote in Penelope to one lucky Nashville Housewives in the City follower! So make sure to head over to our Facebook page to enter!
