I recently spent an afternoon at Gilpin Facial Plastics to try out a new to me treatment. I’m 26 weeks pregnant and wanting to really care for my skin during my pregnancy. Zan recommended that we do a dermaplaning treatment and I fell in love.
I had been hearing about dermaplaning and the benefits but did not know much about it before going into Gilpin Facial Plastics. The staff was extrememly friendly and very helpful with answering all of my questions and walking me through the treatment. One of my biggest concerns was, what if I did it and then decided that it wasnt for me. They reassured me that wether I did it once or for years that if I ever stopped the hair would grow back the same as it was before the treatment.
The dermaplaning was simple and left my skin feeling baby smooth. Nurse Zan used a scalpel to shave the surface of my face, which helped remove dead skin and peach fuzz. I noticed immediately how much better it was when I washed my face and how easy it was to apply my moisturizer and makeup.
We all know that stress and or pregnancy can wreak havoc on our beautiful skin. So today on the blog I asked the experts at Gilpin Facial Plastics for some ways to care for your skin.
First, as simple as it may sound; be sure to wash your face morning and night. Next, exfoliate with a product of your choice and try to get a dermaplaning as a part of your facial every month. What is dermaplaning you ask? It’s where a licensed aesthetician removes the top layer of dead skin off your face. What’s that you say? Shave your face? YES! Dermaplaning removes those dead skin cells and hair that trap oils and dirt on your skin so you can achieve a beautiful glow and healthier skin.
Using medical grade products are the best way to achieve the glow you desire each day. Medical grade products can be found in plastic surgery or dermatology offices. These products have been thoroughly tested and are proven to work. Most products that you buy at the drugstore or the big box retailers haven’t been tested and don’t have a high enough percentage of any one ingredient to be super effective. The three products we recommend investing in are a sunscreen that has Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide as one of the active Ingredients, an antioxidant that contains Vitamin C and E as two of the main ingredients, and finally a retinoid. At Gilpin Facial Plastics, we customize all our skin care plans to each individual. A complimentary skin care consultation is included with each office visit. Should you be interested in just a skin care consultation they offer them for $50 and the cost of the appointment is then applied to the products purchased during the consultation.
Lastly, one of the best investments you can make to give you a glow and smooth out any wrinkles is Botox and or filler. Botox ranges in costs depending on your goals. Botox treatments typically cost between $250 - $600 per treatment and last 3-4 months. Filler is a great way to enhance your lips, treat dark under eye circles, give more volume to the cheeks, and reduce the appearance of laugh lines.
