We are so happy to have Michelle Punda joining us as our next vendor at New Bern's first "Housewives in the City" event at the Bern Bar & Grill on June 20th!
As always, here is our interview with the lovely Michelle Punda!
Question: Do you have a website?
Q: Describe yourself in three words:
M: Strong, Driven, Dedicated
Q: What is your product/service? Who is your target audience?
M: LuLaRoe is simply comfortable, stylish, fashion forward clothing for women, children and men. They fit all ages, and I carry a wide variety of sizes from 2T-3x. Target audience is mainly women from ages 18-65.
Q: What sets your product/service apart from your competitors?
M: I pride myself in providing a deep inventory that has multiple choices in each size and style. That, coupled with customer service that is friendly, personal, and quick. I also love to do in-home parties as often as I can to be able to meet new people and have those new to LLR be introduced to it in a way that will make them a continual and satisfied customer.
Q: How long have you been in business? Where are you located?
M: I began mid February so it's been about 4 months, and I'm located in Jacksonville, NC.
Q: Is there anything you would like potential customers and readers of our blog to know about you and your business?
M: I began this business to be able to provide another source of income for my family to be able to use. I have a 5 year old son, and I want him to know that to be successful it takes hard work and dedication, but you can do anything you put your mind to. I also started this business for my husband. He has two kids that live with their mother in Arkansas most of the year, and I want him to be able to jump on a plane and get see them whenever he really misses them and needs to see them. Right now, we have to drive, and being able to fly would just make it that much easier. So, although I am doing this for myself, I am also doing it to better my family.
Q: What steps did you take to become the successful business woman you are today?
A: From the beginning I have focused on creating personal relationships with all the members of my VIP group. I always try to respond to them quickly and to the fullest extend. I love creating personal styling sessions for them, and enjoy seeing things going on in their personal life. I have always had a goal of having at least one in-home party each weekend in order to get out there and make face to face connections with people instead of just leaving the business online. I think it's very important to be able to get yourself out in the world so you can meet new people and gain new customers on a personal level.
Q: What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in New Bern?
M: I haven't been to too many places in New Bern, but I did enjoy the Mum Festival. I have eaten at a really great restaurant in the downtown area, so I'd say the great food, and the scenery is beautiful too.
Q: What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
M: I think just starting and successfully running my own business with LuLaRoe has been my greatest professional achievement so far. I know there is so much more to come, but so far it has been a great success.
Q: What are your professional goals for the next six months?
M: I want to continue growing my inventory and growing my customer base. I also would like to sponsor one or two new members of our team. And of course I want to continue to find new ways to reach customers and increase my sales.
Q: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
M: I went to Culinary school at the Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham, and although I discovered that working the line a busy restaurant was not for me, I would absolutely love to be a Pastry Chef!
Q: Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
M: My advice is that if you have a passion for something and you find yourself not being to take your mind off of it, then you need to pursue it. I don't like to live my life saying "what if". What if I had just gone with my gut and done it? What if it doesn't quite work out? The "what if" keeps me up at night, therefore if there is something I want to do, I figure out a way to do it. You'll never know whether or not it will be successful unless you give it a shot. Also, you should never expect to reap an instant reward. Building a business takes lots of time, consistency and dedication. As long as you are willing to put in the effort for the long haul, then I believe you will be successful.
Q: Anything else you would like to add?
M: I really enjoy everything about being a LuLaRoe Retailer. Yes it is hard work, but it is worth it. I strongly believe in this company and I am very excited to continue in this journey as I know the future looks amazing! I have a full time job on top of working LuLaRoe, so my days are jam packed, but I wouldn't change it!
