We are all preparing for the storm or a category 1 hurricane in New Orleans. I just wanted to share something!!! Pssst...I just had one of the BEST hamburgers in life.
I feel guilty talking about this. I gave up meat back in 1997 and found myself occasionally indulging. I really did go back to eating it while I was pregnant with both girls. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE STEAKHOUSES!. I just don't eat meat.. When my husband and I began dating, he would take me to steakhouses and I would say "You eat meat"... Yes, Lynn! Duh..What was I thinking? I just love the sides at places like Ruth's, Houstons, Steak 48, Flemmings, Chophouse, Desi Vegas and I can go on and on...RED LOBSTER (oh wait, that's seafood!)...that's where I take my husband when he has been real GOOD..
I was introduced to Bears by a Co-worker who occasioned the restaurant on Fridays. One day, he decided to treat the staff. I said "Sure I will give it a try"...but "I don't eat meat". I thought about what I was saying and just went for it. He said "With or without cheese"? I said "What the heck, add the cheese". I may as well go for the gusto, if I am going to get with it! This place is known for their roast beef poboys. I haven't had that in a really long time...
Mid City, New Orleans was one of the areas I grew up in. They were definitely known for great corner stores. There was a corner store literally on the corner of ULLOA street, we went there almost everyday after school. I really enjoyed the hot sausage on bun.. Just FLAMIN, GOOD OLE' fashioned 80's-90's style sandwiches and poboys. They didn't kill me, I am still alive and always been fine. My husband recently asked me my clothing size. I thought, you don't know this after almost five years. I said comfortably a size six but right now I am an eight. He said "We may need to slow down on these food blogs".. I laughed out loud!
I tried and tried and tried to get a good shot but I just could not get it. The picture probably does not explain how good the burger actually tasted. I have really developed a profound love for Turkey meat over the years. Beef has always been referred to as the devil in my brain. I am convinced to eat at least one Hamburger a year. What do you prefer (turkey or beef)?
Located in Metairie right on Metairie Road under Causeway.
