Is it weird that I could eat out every single day? I can't be the only one. I know, I know it is very expensive but I am a foodie and I get bored of the quick dinners we make at home. However, that being said, I do like to eat fresh food - not a fast food girl. I am a big supporter of shopping local and I stay within a 5 mile radius of home. Listen, in this area you can eat out at a different place every night of the month. People laugh when I give them the run down of my favorite places and they are all "down the street".
So if you live in my area or feel like taking a little drive to try something new check out my list of restaurants Around The Way....
So many to thank so little time, my August launch event was such a success and I have to thank my wonderful vendors, family, friends and those from the community that came out. The networking between all guests was key to our success. From social media marketing tips by JLopez Enterprises to direct sales advice by our guests and business cards were flowing. We so love our featured photographer Signature Photography. So happy that everyone contributed to our featured Charity Partner, Drive for 65 supporting the Holy Name Cancer Center.
Shopping is the best with a glass of wine in your hand. Thank you to Midland Brew House for the space, great service and drink specials! Everyone loved the atmosphere and great food. I hope you all stopped at the Hackensack UMC Fitness table and signed up for a free week. Let me know when you go, I will meet you there!
Special thanks to the following vendors; Kim at Pure Romance, Debbie at Peachy Perfect, LaurieAnn at MaryKay, Sarah at Stella & Dot, Tanja at Danish Baked Goodies, Jessica with Lipsense and special thanks to Diamond For Love & Rodan and Fields for the great swag! Ulta Beauty provided our ultimate gift bag giveaway, which was amazing! Go to my facebook page for more pics and links to all of the vendors under the Midland Brew House event. Hope to you all at the next event in Sept!
Where do I begin? I love good food, healthy food, comfort food, seafood, ethnic food and the list goes on. Mainly, I love spending time with friends and family around the dinner table. We do eat out a lot but we also love our Sunday dinners at home. Good old fashioned Italian or Colombian Sunday dinners. We love our traditions and mix it up as much as we can. However, I love being out and about trying new places. Some have called me the "concierge" because I know where to go and what to order and probably have a picture or two on my phone of the dishes.
So - where did we go or order from this week? Started with Midland Brew House in Saddle Brook, host of my launch event! I love this trendy gastro-pub style restaurant with two floors, large tvs and a patio. Eclectic dinner options, cool bands/music and my favorite craft beers from local breweries. The bartenders are super attentive and knowledgeable. I loved the crab cake sliders and brick oven pizza most recently.
My sister and the kids came over the next day and we brought home Peruvian food from the quaint Uncle Paulie's in Maywood. Hidden gem of our area. Lomo saltado, salad with avocado and platano maduro. Yes! they deliver too. Next time the rotisserie chicken and arroz chaufa. I put the special salad dressing all over my food, it is the best!
Last but not least, we took the kids to St. Ann's Festival in Hoboken. Quick stop to get pizza while it was raining and we ran into a little place called Benny Tudino's, I had never been there but quickly realized it is old school and famous. On the walls were pictures of famous actors and singers that have been there over the years. Home of the "largest slice" your have ever seen! Of course we got our Zeppoles at the festival and then stopped for homemade ice-cream and iced cappuccinos at Baumgart's Cafe of Edgewater. We took a nice walk on the Hudson River walkway and headed home. I had an amazing weekend with friends and family. I wouldn't have it any other way. So, if you want to know where to go just ask the North Jersey "concierge". Hope you found this information helpful and if you try any of these places let me know what you thought!
Gone are the days of waking up on Saturday morning, grabbing a quick cup of coffee and heading to the soccer field. Gone are the carefree hours spent watching my husband coach our 2 sons and cheering for my boys. My sons have not stopped playing soccer, in fact, they have only just begun their young careers. Our sons have always played for the local recreation teams, but they wanted to take soccer a bit more seriously. That’s why my carefree soccer mom hours are in my rear-view. My husband and I have just taken over our towns travel soccer club. The club has existed in some capacity for over 25 years. The current leadership was ready to retire, and never being ones to sit on the sidelines, my husband and I decided to get involved.
We immediately brought our new club into the 21st century. We re-branded the logo, created a new website, and finally brought the club onto social media. We made our presence felt by marching in the town’s Memorial Day parade under a beautiful new banner. We have held our tryouts and cannot wait to start training for our fall season. So instead of watching from the sidelines I will be coordinating the scheduling of the games, running the snack stand, selling team merchandise, paying referees, and reporting each game to the league website. It will be a lot of work, but my kids and many more will reap the benefits. It will be long hours of coordination, phone calls, and emails, but it will all be worth it. I’ll watch with pride as they glide up and down the field, just like my late father did. He would be so proud. I will remember those easy Saturday mornings, a little envious of how it used to be, but never regretting one single moment.
Nightmare is a harsh word but some days are rough. I have been a career mom for over 20 years. I have a 22, 9 and 6 year old boys. I also have my 2 female fur doggies to help balance things out around here. My oldest had to deal with mom and dad working all day and picking him up late from family or daycare every day. I remember one day being able to pick him up from school and he nearly broke down in tears when he saw me. I was a single mother and did what I had to do but that day stuck in my mind.
Fast forward to today, married, 2 more boys and I have been lucky enough to be a full time working mom with a home office. I even travel to other states from time to time. Be careful what you wish for.... guests stopping by, dogs have to get walked, I am in charge of doing the school drop off and pick-ups, get dinner started, door bell is ringing with random sales people, kids screaming in the back-round during conference calls. Worst of all, there is no interaction with colleagues. I crave adult conversation over a cup of coffee. Okay, enough with the negativity. I actually love it! I am here for my kids, I see their happy faces after school, I get to take care of them when they are sick, I have my coffee outside by the pond and I can shower after lunch *TMI. I am blessed to have a supportive husband and great kids. Whatever the situation or where the universe takes me next, I will try to make the best of it.
Welcome to the Housewives in the City – North Jersey! I finally took my goals and dreams and put them to work for me. Please join me on this adventure. I will be blogging about my personal experiences, places I visit, restaurants/bars, sharing on social media, promoting events and networking with many women in the business community.
I am adventurous and always looking for ways to improve myself. Social media is a way of life for me and I enjoy sharing my photos and posting about people and places I encounter in different communities. I am an event planner, foodie, animal lover, soccer mom, wine-o and career woman. My goal here is to help others connect and share on my site. I look forward to meeting you all at my monthly ladies night out events and hearing about your business.
