In this blog I will explain a little more about what I do! When I tell people I work in Public Relations, they usually give me confused looks or say my favorite line, “oh so like a public speaker.” I can’t help but roll my eyes but I can’t blame them, public relations is a very intense field with many obstacles and not one day is ever the same. With every company there is a face or important name in which consumers always think of but behind that face are PR specialists who work everyday to make sure that face or name stays in the public light in a positive and approachable way. For example, McDonald’s, such a successful food chain with locations all over the world. Their food may taste good but it is definitely not the healthiest option and even after hearing horrid stories of what eating McDonald’s could do to a person, we still go back! Because McDonald’s is a safe option, a comfort zone, and at that moment you are in the environment of McDonald’s, you are happy. The PR specialists of McDonald’s worked hard to put their company in such a positive light that its negatives are often forgotten. The main job in PR is literally maintaining the relationship between a company and the public. Although the main trick is to do this all for free. So what I mean is there is advertising and there is public relations. A company will pay to advertise their brand on a billboard for example, but that billboard may only be seen in one location. With public relations, a company will pay a PR firm a specific amount but this firm will find ways to promote their brand through the media (online) for free which can be seen everywhere. Advertising, a company pays to be included in an ad on a website. Public relations finds a journalist or blogger who will write their story for free and post an article on that website. It is very important for PR specialists to develop relationships with journalists. In return, journalists are often sent free samples or products that they can review. At my PR firm we are currently working with a sports drink client. We are constantly connecting with journalists and reporters from top line magazines like People, Wall Street Journal, or Hollywood life and sending them product from the sports drink line. The PR specialist would send the product along with a press release explaining the purpose of the product and background information. This press release and the review from the journalists is then sent to as many media outlets (pr term for websites) ready to be read by potential customers who were searching the web. In simpler terms, it’s word of mouth through the media. Social media has become huge in the PR world! It is the easiest way to connect with consumers and getting quick information out. PR also has an event planning side where they organize and host launch parties for their clients where reporters are also invited, which is another easy way to gain exposure for their client and getting them out into the public. There is honestly so much more that goes into public relations and I could go on but then this blog will turn into a book. I guess I love this field so much because it really is that exciting and there is always an adrenaline rush. I have had the opportunity to meet and talk with so many people! I was even on the phone with a famous basketball player and I am just an intern! I really do have a lot of motivation in this field. I cannot wait to finally work in public relations full time and to continue to grow and work my way up. Right now is only the beginning and I am excited to see all that I can do!
Recently, I purchased the Dyson Hair Dryer! Before making this big purchase, being that the blow dryer is not cheap at all, I had to take a lot of aspects of the hair dryer into consideration to make sure I was making a purchase which will be worth it. This blow dryer had caught my interest as soon as it came out! I kept an eye on the reviews and watched tons of YouTube review videos to scope out all the goods and bags of the product.
Majority of the reviews on the blow dryer had been good, but I felt like it was time to see how powerful this blow dryer was for myself. I am a girl with naturally curly and frizzy hair. My curly hair always has a mind of its own and by the end of the day, it is as poofy as can be! So blow drying my hair had always been the easiest. I wash and blow out my hair twice a week and I am good to go! But the main reason I was in the market for a high quality blow dryer is because the process and time of blowing out my hair always took so long! My old Conair had my hair finished in an hour and a half, and this was time out of my day I did not want to waste on my hair.
So about three months ago I made my big purchase at Sephora! A whopping $400!! I almost wanted to get out of the line because I kept thinking of how much money I was about to spend on a blow dryer!! But I thought of the warranty and it was able to be returned, so I accepted the fact that I should at least try it out like how I always wanted to. If I hated it, I could get my money back!
Well, I didn't hate it. In fact, I love it!! This blow dryer turned my hour and a half into a half an hour blow dry time and I was left with sleek and silky hair! With my old Conair, I would have to blow-dry THEN straighten my hair to get all the frizz out. That is so much heat and damage I had caused!! Now, I just turn that Dyson baby on and in a half hour I'm good to go! The box also came with samples of Quai brand products which included a hair oil, hair spray, leave in conditioner, and a hair mist. Also very good quality products which I will mostly likely continue to purchase after the samples run out.
The only con about the blow dryer is definitely the price. I do not think it is worth $400! Something between the $250- $300 range would be more reasonable. It is a luxury and good quality dryer, so I would expect to pay a good buck but $400 is a little too much.

11 Amazing Reasons to Start Juicing Today
As a rule, when it comes to food I tend to be suspicious of trends (for example, matcha smoothies or the cronut). Instead, I prefer to scope out foods that fall under the radarbecause if I'm not pleased with the discovery, at least I have a good story to tell.
Needless to say, I ignored juice bars when they started popping up all over the place. But when I finally tried a freshly squeezed concoction one hot afternoon, I was instantly hooked (against my better judgment, of course). Now I can’t wait to share 11 amazing reasons to start juicing today!
What exactly is juicing?
Juicing is extracting liquid from fruits and veggies with the help of a motorized or hand-operated device. This process separates the juice from the solid, fibrous pieces of fruit or veg so your body has an easier time digesting the nutrients (you just drink it down!).
Why is juicing good for you?
Fresh juice is so good for you because the vitamins and minerals aren’t broken down nor have they lost any of their nutritional value (which happens with cooked or manipulated foods). In other words, you get a big natural bang for your buck.
Types of juice
You can juice most fruits and veggies and it’s really a matter of trial and error to determine your favorite combos. You can mix fruits with vegetables and experiment with other flavor enhancements (like cinnamon or vanilla). Here’s a hot tip: while figs and avocados are great in a smoothie, they are not made for juicing!
11 amazing reasons to start juicing today
You can reward your hard working body by drinking a freshly squeezed juice? Since there’s nothing solid to digest, you’re able to quickly absorb something that’s delicious and good for you! With very little effort your body is able to soak up micronutrients, too (like disease fighting phytonutrients!).
Juicing is the perfect opportunity to expand your palate and sample those exotic looking fruits and veggies. Next time you’re at the grocery store you’ll have the perfect excuse to load up on jicama, dandelion greens, fennel and prickly pear!
When that afternoon slump hits, instead of reaching for a coffee, make a juice! Since your body doesn’t have to spend time digesting, the juice will flood your body with energy and goodness right away. What’s more, the ritual of juicing –making a healthy food choice – is also known to boost your mood.
Since juicing improves your overall immune system, you’ll find that you suffer from fewer colds and you have way more energy than ever before. These are signs that your body is working to reach its optimal condition. Before you know it, your skin will have a natural, irresistible glow because when your body is healthy on the inside, it shows on the outside.
Certainly, juice fasts are not for everyone. But we’ve heard during a juice fast it’s possible to reach a different level of awareness in terms of body and mind. The theory is that since you don’t focus on chewing and digesting, you’re freed up to notice and reflect upon new things. This may explain why many yoga and mediation enthusiasts are avid juicers!
Get a boost
When it comes to juicing citrus fruits, there’s a bonus. Although you need to peel the hard skin, you should leave on as much of the white pith as possible (we’re talking about the spongy, tissue-like stuff right under the skin). This actually helps your body to absorb antioxidants and Vitamin C.
Juicing is a natural way for the body to rid itself of toxins that are harming your body, or keeping your body from healing. Several fruits and veggies are known for their detox qualities (for example apples, lemon, beets, spinach and kale) and there are plenty of tasty recipes to sample (we suggest searching online).
A juice habit could be an expensive one if you pay to have your juice made for you every day. That’s why if you commit to adding juice to your diet, it’s worth it to invest in a juicer and to stock up on supplies. Trust us, it won’t be long before you notice just how much you’ve saved!
Speed up your morning routine! Don’t waste any more time standing in a line waiting for your juice order. Instead, make your favorite juice at home and take it to go.
Share with kids
If your kids aren’t big on the fruits and veggies, surprise them with a tasty super juice made with apples, lemon and ginger or a kale and pineapple combo. If they don’t know what’s in it, they may just love it!
Shake it up
Juicing is just the thing to shake up your normal eating habits. Instead of grabbing a granola bar before a workout, make a juice to take with you to the gym. Make a point of prepping the ingredients ahead of time (cut them up and refrigerate them), you’ll be out the door in a jiffy. Once you realize the benefits, it won’t take long for juicing to become a regular part of your daily routine.
Power to change
According to recent studies, 76% of people don’t include enough fruit in their diets and 87% skimp on vegetables. Well, it doesn’t have to be that way! Juicing (along with a healthy diet) is a quick and easy way to meet the recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals.
With so many reasons to start juicing, there really is no excuse not to jump on the bandwagon. Of course, when it comes to diets and nutrition, we all get into ruts. But thanks to the power of juicing, we don’t have to stay there.
