Summer is the best time to be together. When we are acting as a family we have opportunities to relate and communicate more effectively. Summer activities provide an excellent way to get quality bonding time and create wonderful memories with your kids and spouse that will be cherished for a lifetime. These activities can build your family both physically and relationally.
Here is a list of inexpensive, fun, and easy summer activities that mark time, solidify family ties, and give your kids something to look forward to besides the big holidays.
Gardening is an economical fun activity. Help your kids to plant their own flower garden and tell them about each flower. You could even plant some vegetables, showing kids where food comes from. Good thing is that kids will swell with feelings of pride at growing their own organic food.
It’s an easy and low budget activity to have fun with your family. You can go to the nearest local trails or forested park for hiking. Hiking is the best way to enjoy nature and its refreshing effects while getting some cardio exercise. Pack some sandwiches, fruits, and water, and bring animal or plant guide to identify things you come across on the hike. Your kids will love this amusing and enlightening activity.
Family movie night
Going to the movie theater might be expensive for some, but Netflix and rentals are affordable alternatives to spend great screen time with your kids. Pop a big bowl of popcorns, grab a large blanket and snuggle in for a movie night.

Summer is the perfect time to document family memories. Take a lot of photos on different occasion during the summer season and start an interesting scrapbook that could contain photos for art projects, items from your past experiences and pictures with cute captions.

A visit to the park is always a wonderful venture for all the kids. Climbing, Swinging, balancing and sliding are all developmental skills. Moreover, it’s an amazing fitness place for parents too. You don't have to sit silently and watch your kids. Get involved and have some fun.

You can conduct badminton tournament in your own backyard or at the park, and after 1 to 2 hours of it, you’ll have had some laughs and good cardiovascular workout. Plus, badminton equipment is very affordable, and this game can be done in pairs or singles, making it an ideal activity for your family.
Whether it’s a beach, pool or even pond, swimming is an ideal way to fit in fun exercise. Swimming can improve flexibility and increase muscle tone to strengthen the heart and relieve stress. You can play a lot of games in the water with your kids such as dive for items or race with laps. At a beach, you can play Frisbee, volleyball or catch with a water ball.
