Sometimes I wake up and I think "is this really my life?" Miller and Smith is one of the most premiere home builders in the DC area - and they connected with me to throw a VIP happy in Brambleton for my friends in one of their gorgeous homes! I absolutely jumped on that invite and rounded up some girlfriends to hang out on Friday night before we went out for Valentine's Day.
We met up in the Brambleton Skyview model - which was quite impressive. I was ready to sign on the dotted line and purchase within 10 minutes of entering the property. I loved the open floor plans, top chef kitchens perfect for gathering friends and entertaining, gorgeous fireplaces, and a year-round covered deck. In the great room, there is a "wall of glass" that offers an unobstructed view to the outdoors. Really really fell in love with this home - and it totally slipped my mind that I was in a 3400 sqft townhome, not a single family!
When I said I was ready to sign on the dotted line... I mean really really I could have done it. Right now, Miller and Smith is offering a "THINK ZERO" promotion for homebuyers: Zero Down, Zero Closing Costs, Zero Reasons to Wait! Plus, "Freemium" upgrades and only $2500 cash moves you in. Pretty sweet deal!
You can check out more photos of the Miller and Smith Brambleton homes and watch a video of the home tour on their website.
*special thanks to Miller and Smith for inviting us to host the event and providing sponsored content
a perfect surprise in my mailbox today from my sweet Gram! nothing better than handmade to keep warm in this arctic blast :)
I went to the Washington Auto Show a few weeks ago as a guest of GM and got a chance to preview the new vehicles coming out in 2015. Because just seeing these vehicles in the convention center isn't the best way to get to know them, I was offered a chance to take home a GMC Canyon for a week. Can't turn that down during the winter blast that we were getting!
I never really pictured myself as a pick up truck kind of girl, but I really liked the ride - and all the looks I got while I was behind the wheel! This bad boy was a beast in the snow - and the interior didn't lack any of the luxuries that I'm used to. There was plenty of room in the back seats for B and his snow boots. Also, I'm addicted to the remote start in my Chevy Tahoe (perfect for drop off at 7:30am SACC) - and the GMC Canyon came with that option as well.
Thanks to GM and Drive the District for hooking me up!
On Wednesday night we were invited to catch the opening night performance of Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy at the Verizon Center and had a little pre-party with some other locals including my friend Jessica and her kiddos! We love catching the Disney on Ice shows when they come to town - but I have to say, this one was one of my favorites.
With scenes from some of our favorite movies including Cars, Toy Story 3, Tinker Bell, and The Little Mermaid... I caught myself singing along with the characters (particularly Sebastian, the crab from The Little Mermaid) more than once. And the crowed oohed and ahhhed as we watched Tinker Bell fly over the ice and sprinkled pixie dust on the fairies below. Great show! We can't wait for the next one -- check out some of the pics below!

We are partnering with the Reston Community Center to do a dress drive at our event on Feb 27th at the Reston Sheraton Hotel! Bring your old dresses, shoes, jewelry, handbags and accessories so that we can help send local students to Prom!

I was invited by Chevrolet and SheBuysCars to join them for the Washington Auto Show. As a woman who has owned 7 vehicles since I began driving 13 years ago, I'd have to guess that I'm into car-buying slightly more than the average consumer. I was thrilled to be included in such a neat experience!
We checked in at the Grand Hyatt DC and had dinner with some GM execs at Cuba Libre. It was a very intimate roundtable of about bloggers (including my friend Jessica McFadden from A Parent in Silver Spring!) and GM execs who shared their philosophies and allowed us to get to know the brand, their target consumer, their BIG ideas for the future - and how they connect those ideas with a car buyer.
The next morning, we started off Press Day early at the Washington Auto Show with breakfast and a keynote with Cadillac and the President of Cadillac. More bloggers joined us for a full day of events!
James Bell, the Head of Consumer Affairs at General Motors gave us a personal tour of the Washington Auto Show. The tour was followed by an Innovation Panel, Chevy Volt Walkaround, and a Women in Automotive Panel. It was amazing to see how much influence women have in the auto industry. One of the most impressive speakers of the day was Pamela Fletcher, Chief Executive Engineer of Electrified Vehicles at General Motors.
Thanks to SheBuysCars for inviting me to play at the Washington Auto Show for a day with some of my favorite bloggers!

If there's one thing I can tell you about Laser Hair Removal is this: It's life-changing! To not have to share your legs or underarms before heading to the pool, gym, or putting on a dress to go out is really a relief.
This week, we've teamed up with Mountcastle Plastic Surgey and Vein Institute to give away 6 sessions of Laser Hair Removal that can be used on the underarms, bikini, or upper lip/chin. Value of $1000!
When Leesburg residents Jennifer and Clay Sharman launched Cycle Scene in January 2015, they were thrilled by the response from the community. It turns out fitness fans have been waiting for a top-notch, local cycle studio and Cycle Scene more than delivers! Riders come and are surrounded by a 6,000 sq. ft. landscape of sensory stimuli designed to get your heart pumping before you ever climb on a bike.
This epic indoor cycling studio is a wonderland filled with an audacious sound system, two 75” display monitors for virtual rides, and professional LED lighting. Featuring over 50 custom-built bikes, every ride is a calorie-torching cardio party. From latest club mixes and old school throwbacks to live DJs for special event rides, you’ll be motivated in a fun, endorphin-blasting environment filled with teamwork and camaraderie.
Cycle Scene’s signature Master classes feature high-intensity cycling with body sculpting. Designed for busy people on the go, these combination classes are the ultimate workout providing a powerful experience with maximum results.
While the iconic studio design is unparalleled, it’s how they engage their riders that distinguishes this upscale boutique from the big box gyms. From the friendly front desk greeters to committed, passionate instructors, riders will feel like part of a group working towards the same goal – to help each other achieve success. “We believe people should lift one another up to reach whatever personal goals each rider has set for themselves. We motivate and inspire in a way that truly energizes each rider to do their absolute best,” said owner Jenn Sharman.
After an endorphin-blasting ride (which some would call a true “Party on a Bike Experience”), riders can enjoy eucalyptus-chilled towels, spacious locker rooms featuring 12 showers, spa-grade amenities with USDA certified bio-based shower gel, private digital lockers, complimentary towels, and filtered water filling stations. Don’t forget to check out their fun line of retail to make sure everyone knows just where you come to have fun and get fit.
Cycle Scene believes in supporting the community in a big way. The first Monday of each month’s 9:30am class is called “Ride for a Reason” and 100% of all profits go directly to a local charitable organization chosen by YOU! Each time riders come they get to “vote” for their favorite local charity. The charitable organization with the most votes is then notified of their specific “Ride for a Reason” class date so they can promote and try to increase the number of riders in that class, thereby increasing the donation amount they will receive. It’s really a win-win for everybody!
Cycle Scene is your sanctuary and “home away from home” and features an expansive social area to meet motivating people, be productive or just kick back and relax. Enjoy complimentary healthy post-workout refreshments and stay connected with free Wi-Fi. Grand Opening events are planned for the end of February.
Jennifer and Clay are no strangers to running a successful business in Loudoun. In January 2008, they opened up Sport Bounce of Loudoun and it quickly became the standard for indoor inflatable birthday parties. In 2014 Sport Bounce was voted BEST KID'S PARTY VENUE 2014 by readers of Northern Virginia Magazine AND POSH Seven Magazine! They are looking forward to bringing this same passion and success to Cycle Scene. Invite your friends and sign up together for your FREE class at www.cyclescene.com and get ready for an awesome ride! Check out www.facebook.com/cyclescenestudio for more pictures of the studio.
