True Story: My mom and dad's first date 30+ years ago was at a WWE (then, WWF) wrestling match. So last week, when I was invited to check out WWE Monday Night Raw at the Verizon Center with my family, I had to accept!
We first made a pit stop at The Italian Store for dinner before heading downtown on Monday night. I have to admit, I wasn't sure what exactly to expect when we pulled into Chinatown. We found street parking about 3 blocks away, and once we got out, we walked behind a group of teenagers wearing purple and silver spandex pants, cutoff shirts, and laced up black boots... I was a little worried about what I had gotten myself into.
We picked up out tickets and made it to our seats just as the show started. B absolutely loved the action and acrobatics. Even though everyone says it's "fake" -- yes, the actual violence is fake -- but the athletics were not. I was so impressed. I was worried it'd be too rough for B, but I was wrong. In fact, all of WWE's programming is kid-friendly and rated PG. The storylines, however, were pretty dramatic, kinda like watching a Spanish soap opera.
It's also worth noting that WWE is dedicated to giving back to the community and setting examples for their younger fans through various campaigns, most notably, ‘Be A STAR' (WWE’s anti-bullying campaign) & the WrestleMania Reading Challenge.
As the night ended, we walked pasted the merchandise table and B really wanted a wrestling belt so that he could be a "champion" too. Too cute! Had a great night out! Thanks, WWE, for the invite :)
Gifford’s Famous Ice Cream, award-winning ice cream from a small town in Maine, is launching its line of creamy, delicious vintage-made ice cream into greater Washington, D.C. with a summer-long Good Times Ice Cream Tour - and on Sunday night, I was lucky enough to host the kickoff party for local bloggers and social media influencers!
Gifford's arrived at Dulles Golf & Sports Park to greet 50 bloggers and their families in a colorful, state-of-the art ice cream truck, equipped with freezers and loads of award-winning ice cream. Guests met with Lindsay Gifford-Skilling, Gifford's GM and fifth generation ice cream maker, and her brother JC.
The kids lined up and enjoyed sampling the flavors and creating their own sundaes! The ice cream was DELICIOUS! I got the last dish of French Vanilla and I only needed one bite to realize that this is real, old fashioned ice cream. It was so good, I didn't want to add any of the hot fudge, whipped cream or sprinkles :) Afterwards, we all got to enjoy access to the driving range, mini golf course, batting cages, and mining for gems.
The Gifford's Ice Cream truck is scheduled to appear at more than 70 events in the Washington D.C. area giving away FREE ice cream throughout the summer. Fans of delicious, creamy ice cream are invited to follow the truck @GiffordsMaine on Twitter to find out where it will be next! If you want the truck to come to your neck of the woods, you can tweet the truck using hashtag #FreeGiffordsIceCream and your city!
Where can you find this super creamy treat? Gifford’s is now at Whole Foods Markets, Balducci’s, and Wawas in the Washington D.C. area.

Today, I dusted off the golf clubs (which I borrowed) and hit up Virginia Oaks Golf Club in Gainesville for the 16th Annual DECA Marketing Advisory Board Golf Tournament. The tournament raises scholarship money for students through the marketing programs.
I got to play with my friend, Ed, from Fair Oaks Mall and his team. So fun! We played "best ball" and surprisingly, we actually didn't do TOO horribly and finished in second to last place. Oh well, it sure was fun for my first time out on the course!
I had so much fun hosting our first ever mini-meet up in Gainesville at Grafton Street! Check out the full event albumon our Facebook page -- and don't forget to tag yourselves! xo
I don't say it often, but I'm really lucky to have picked such an awesome Dad for my little B. I didn't make a single plan for Father's Day, but we ended up having one of the best, jam-packed days ever.
It started with B and I making and serving breakfast in bed, followed by the morning at the pool.
THEN We then got showered and ready and went for lunch at one of the best Lebanese spots in Northern Virginia, Zikrayet Lounge in Old Town Alexandria, and watched a World Cup match while dining al fresco.
THEN We met up with some family and cousins in Old Town and walked around and grabbed a beer at The Waterfront Market and Café. I took B and his cousin for a walk and we got some slow churned ice cream and watched street performers while the Dads finished off their beers.
THEN We hopped in the car and met up with some family who were already fishing at Jones Point Park. It's a
really awesome location right under the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Beautiful views. We caught nothing, but
two 20lb catfish were caught by the guys next to us. B's razor scooter also took an unfortunate dive to the bottom of the Potomac River.
THEN We drove to Arlington and hit up a pig roast to celebrate the success of No 1 Sons Pickles! (Awesome local company, read more here!)
Last week, we hosted a Summer Block Party with one of our favorite brands: South Moon Under @ Mosaic District. We had a DJ spinning all night, cupcakes and beverages, and best of all -- 20% off the entire store! I snagged myself 4 new pairs of shoes... with a deal like that, who could resist!? Check out the pics below. To see the full album, visit our Facebook page!
I've been known to host RHNOVA Girls Night Out & Meet Ups in Fairfax and Loudoun... but last night we hosted our first Girls Night Out in Woodbridge! We took over the entire outdoor patio at Not Your Averages Joe's at Stonebridge Potomac Town Center. It was a gorgeous setting for a beautiful patio party! Plus, we offered complimentary apps all night and happy hour specials. There were so many new faces that came out -- and we'll definitely be back!
Next week, we're back in Prince William County as we co-host a Girls Night Out with PWC Moms at Grafton Street in Gainesville's Virginia Gateway. You can RSVP and snag your ticket here. You can see the full photo album on our Facebook page -- feel free to tag yourselves!
On Thursday night, we hosted a Girls Night Out at Potomac River Running Store in Fairfax Corner which was sponsored by Under Armour. Under Armour did personal sports bra fittings, PowerBar showed up with some delicious samples, and PRR did shoe fittings and discounts off the entire store! On top of all of that, they even spoiled the guests with food, drink, giveaways and swag bags!
Take a look at the pics below -- and if you have time, stop by and see the manager, Rory, and his awesome team. I'm going back on Wednesday next week to do a shoe fitting at Potomac River Running Store :)

I heard about DivaFit Pole Fitness Northern Virginia... and since my brother is getting married in December, I thought it'd be a really fun way for his fiance, Melanie, to have a fun afternoon out with her girlfriends! Check out Mel's review and pics below:
"This past Sunday, five of my best girlfriends and I were lucky enough to take a Pole Fitness class with Lisa Adams from DivaFit. My friends and I had never taken a pole fitness class before, so we were all a little nervous. But once we walked into the dance studio and saw the disco ball and poles we all could not wait to get started.
Lisa began by turning on a fun play list and showing us some basic dance moves along with some stretching exercises to get everyone warmed up. Then we did some squats, kicks, and dancing to really get our workout started! We began learning some classic moves such as the “sexy walk” around the pole and the “body roll.” The “sexy walk” is a lot of fun and you can incorporate your own style into it. The “body roll” Lisa demonstrated first, and then broke it down piece by piece so that it would be easy for us to catch on.
Once we felt comfortable with the first few moves, it was time to learn the Intro Level pole dancing spin, known as “fireman spin.” Lisa showed us her “fireman spin” and even though she made it look so easy, we were all worried we would never be able to do it! Lisa broke the spin down step by step until we were ready to try the full spin all in one motion. We began to get the hang of it and Lisa came around to each of us individually -- and gave us some pointers in order to help us perfect our spin.
By the end of the class, it was time to incorporate everything we learned into a dance routine. Lisa cranked up the music and turned the disco ball and we all followed along while using our new skills. It was the most fun workout routine you will ever learn!
The best part about DivaFit is even though you are having so much fun, you truly get a workout. Throughout the class you, rarely stop moving so it is great for cardio. By combining moves from dance, gymnastics, and circus training, your entire body gets toned in just one hour. After the class, I was sweating and I could the feel the “burn” in every muscle in my body from my arms to my toes! But because the class was so much fun, even though I could feel the burn, I didn't want it to end!
Lisa was truly a fantastic instructor and made everything so easy to learn and fun! I would totally give DivaFit five stars -- and we will definitely be coming back to DivaFit for more classes very soon!"
