This past Monday I had the pleasure of sitting down with creative director Michel Laprise, to talk about Cirque Du Soleil`s latest show Kurios - Cabinet of Curiosities.
Typically, when you think of Cirque Du Soleil you imagine out of this world creations and unrealistic sets, but Kurious Cabinet of Curiosities promises to reinvent Cirque, as you know it. Cirque Du Soleil`s 35th production takes place in an alternate reality where “crazy abandoned ideas live”. The show is centered around a Seeker who with his childlike innocence, believes that an invisible world exists where anything you can imagine, is real. Creator of Kurios, Michel Laprise began to envision the show after being inspired by colorful big tops, which, he believes brings energy into the show. Suddenly the Seeker finds himself in a makeshift world with grand characters.
Dedicated to leaving viewers with the resonating feeling of possibility, Laprise has successfully created an exciting and joyful show. Cabinet of Curiosities is a timeless celebration of what we can accomplish if we all put out minds together. The show will evoke your imagination and leave you wanting to visit the “valley of possible impossibles”. Kurios aims to connect with the audience through every part the show from the set to the costumes.
Don’t miss out on a show that reinvents the world around us! Cabinet of Curiosities will be in Tysons Corner at the Lerner Town Center from July 21st to September 18th. For more information and tickets, visit cirquedusoleil.com/kurios.
