I heard about DivaFit Pole Fitness Northern Virginia... and since my brother is getting married in December, I thought it'd be a really fun way for his fiance, Melanie, to have a fun afternoon out with her girlfriends! Check out Mel's review and pics below:
"This past Sunday, five of my best girlfriends and I were lucky enough to take a Pole Fitness class with Lisa Adams from DivaFit. My friends and I had never taken a pole fitness class before, so we were all a little nervous. But once we walked into the dance studio and saw the disco ball and poles we all could not wait to get started.
Lisa began by turning on a fun play list and showing us some basic dance moves along with some stretching exercises to get everyone warmed up. Then we did some squats, kicks, and dancing to really get our workout started! We began learning some classic moves such as the “sexy walk” around the pole and the “body roll.” The “sexy walk” is a lot of fun and you can incorporate your own style into it. The “body roll” Lisa demonstrated first, and then broke it down piece by piece so that it would be easy for us to catch on.
Once we felt comfortable with the first few moves, it was time to learn the Intro Level pole dancing spin, known as “fireman spin.” Lisa showed us her “fireman spin” and even though she made it look so easy, we were all worried we would never be able to do it! Lisa broke the spin down step by step until we were ready to try the full spin all in one motion. We began to get the hang of it and Lisa came around to each of us individually -- and gave us some pointers in order to help us perfect our spin.
By the end of the class, it was time to incorporate everything we learned into a dance routine. Lisa cranked up the music and turned the disco ball and we all followed along while using our new skills. It was the most fun workout routine you will ever learn!
The best part about DivaFit is even though you are having so much fun, you truly get a workout. Throughout the class you, rarely stop moving so it is great for cardio. By combining moves from dance, gymnastics, and circus training, your entire body gets toned in just one hour. After the class, I was sweating and I could the feel the “burn” in every muscle in my body from my arms to my toes! But because the class was so much fun, even though I could feel the burn, I didn't want it to end!
Lisa was truly a fantastic instructor and made everything so easy to learn and fun! I would totally give DivaFit five stars -- and we will definitely be coming back to DivaFit for more classes very soon!"
