After experiencing life-changing relief as a result of chiropractic care, Dr. Jennifer Lee Taschler wanted to be able to help others get out of pain and experience a healthy lifestyle too. Jennifer likes to focus on a "whole body" approach incorporating chiropractic, rehabilitation, massage therapy, and nutritional support. "Opening a new business was a challenge, but something I had always dreamed of. Success was a high mountain to climb, working long hours and weekends was difficult." Jennifer and her husband did not have much time together in the beginning and finding a work/life balance was difficult when opening Taschler Spine & Rehab. "I am happy to report I no longer work weekends!"
Describe yourself in three words:
Enthusiastic, Caring, Conscientious
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Enabling others to live a healthier, happier, and pain free life through Chiropractic and a product called ASEA. Seeing peoples lives change in front of your eyes is so exciting and is my fuel to want to continue doing what I love to do.
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
To dedicate more time to getting out and educating the community about how to resolve their health issues. I would like to dedicate more time to focus on presenting to women’s groups and businesses about women’s health issue. Basically teaching women the benefits of Chiropractic and ASEA.
How does your company stay connected through social media?
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
I love Chiropractic and helping people. If I had to choose another profession it would be due to my love for animals. Being a Veterinarian or starting a dog rescue would be very fulfilling.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
It took a long time to get my work and personal life in balance. I have a wonderful staff at my office and an amazing husband so this helps tremendously. Knowing when to take a break and planning vacations is a must. I set aside time to have fun and do the things I enjoy.
What websites do you visit every day?
Washington Business Journal: http://www.bizjournals.com/washington/
WTOP News: http://www.wtop.com/
What is your favorite drink – and where can you find it in Northern Virginia?
Raspberry Lemon Drop Martini at Coastal Flats
What are your top 3 favorite people/places/things in Northern Virginia?
One of my favorites is meeting friends and family in the Town of Clifton for crepes and lattes at the Clifton Café then taking a nice walk around town and through the woods. I grew up in this quaint town and love that it has maintained it small town charm. I can never leave without a quick stop at the Clifton Store to pick up some of my favorite childhood candies Mary Janes & Cow Tales!
Going with my husband and puppy to the Shirlington Dog Park and playing in the water then walking over to Guapo’s for margaritas and queso.
My husband and I love to go hiking in Shenandoah followed by a wine tasting at a local vineyard. We usually end the day at The Griffin Tavern in The Plains listening to a fun band and chowing on fish & chips.
What is your goal for retirement?
Retirement is a long ways away. Starting a dog rescue has always been a dream I would love to make a reality. A passion of mine is traveling and seeing the world. I would love to live in different countries for extended periods of time. Enough time to absorb the culture and learn some of the language.
Do you have any advice for women who would like to start their own company?
Do your homework. Have as much as you can in place. Have a good solid business plan. Make sure to save money and several months expenses saved up. Mentally prepare yourself to work insane hours and weekends the first few years. I think the best advice is to not let fear stop you from living your dreams!
Some days you may want to walk away from it all, but just remember the road to success is sometimes bumpy but in the end, well worth the destination. My advice would be to maintain a positive mental attitude and take time to dedicate to personal development.

Hi! my name is Andrea and I'm a not-so-average Northern Virginia blogger, mom, and transplant from the Midwest. I host Girls Night Out events, meet ups, and write about events and my adventures in the DC area. I love to travel, brunch, and drink wine with my neighbors! I'm known to live on the wild side and order Venti iced double shots at 5pm.
