Santa is all about the experience and this year Tysons Corner Center has partnered with HGTV to present “Santa HQ.” Families are invited to experience the wonder of Santa’s workshop in the digital age. Exciting interactive technology transforms and customizes the experience.
This engaging new version of a visit with Santa uses digital tools to offer an augmented reality environment and a thoroughly new, enhanced social mediaexperience for families. At Santa HQ, kids will be “scanned” as they arrive to determine if they’ve been “naughty or nice,” enter an observatory where they will use special tablets to view Santa’s magical world - the night sky or Santa’s elves at work, for instance – be able to take an “ELFIE” (a photo opp as a dancing elf) and much more.
Photo packages are also available starting at $34.99. As an added bonus, guests can start to make reservations with the man of the hour starting mid-September by visiting www.santa-hq.com. Shoppers also are invited to bring in an unwrapped toy and participate in Help Through Holiday Giving. Tysons Corner Center hopes to gather 1000 toys to be donated to a local non-profit organization.

Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016. Maimah Karmo always knew that that she wanted to be a servant leader in some way; and do something more meaningful than "just make money to acquire things." As CEO of Tigerlily Foundation, she has made a stunning impact on the lives of young women with breast cancer. "After my diagnosis with breast cancer, I found my passion and my 'eyes were opened.' Taking the leap into entrepreneurial non-profit leadership was inevitable. It wasn't a choice really - I was giving 'birth' to another child - almost literally. Creating Tigerlily and nurturing her was like having a baby. We were filling a niche gap and helping so many women. We are excited to celebrate our 10th anniversary this year!"
Tigerlily Foundation is one of the only organizations in the nation providing assistance to young women (15-45) before, during and after breast cancer. More than 18,000 young women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually, and approximately ten percent die of the disease. Even though they get breast cancer less often than older women, younger women tend to have more aggressive breast cancers, so education about the risk factors and early detection is key.
"When I saw how many lives were being touched, I was propelled more and more; and I'm driven by my passion. I will accept nothing less than success; and I love seeing how our work is transforming the breast cancer landscape. I love what I do, so it's not work"
Describe yourself in three words:
Full of faith, fearlessness and love!
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Building my organization, Tigerlily Foundation, which impacts so many young breast cancer survivors; and working to pass two critical pieces of breast health legislation.
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
To have more fun... seriously! :-)
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I love all my jobs! Right now, in addition to Tigerlily Foundation, I'm a single mom, an author, a blogger, I'm building a magazine and have a busy social and philanthropic schedule. I am good!
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
I schedule in time for me that is non-negotiable. It's on my calendar - like an appointment. I call those my Maimah days, where I don't book any appointments. I also make sure I practice my morning rituals daily - of exercise, meditation, prayer and reading. In addition, I treat myself often, and let "me" know how much I appreciate who I am and who I'm becoming. I make time for friends and I also love spending QT with my daughter.
What websites do you visit every day?
Tony Robbins', Neale Donald Walsh, Gabrielle Bernstein, Oprah, Marie Forleo
What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in your city?
Favorite restaurant in Tyson's - Eddie V's. Favorite drink - apple martini, favorite person - my daughter, Noelle. I also have so many wonderful friends I love spending time with!
What is your goal for retirement?
I will be a travelling, soul-purpose seeking gypsy, who makes creates joy, makes friends, writes and brings people together.
Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
Ask yourself whether this is your passion. Have a vision, create a "foundation" for your business first, study your business and know every aspect of it, and know that it's a long term commitment. Make sure to have other business owners who are part of your tribe, who can mentor, support, uplift you and help you pick up the pieces after hard times - mentally and through offering resources. Lastly, make sure you find ways to nurture yourself on a regular basis.

Tigerlily Foundation is one of the only nation-wide organizations providing full-lifecycle assistance to young women – before, during and after breast cancer – to include education, survivorship support, advocacy programs to support young women living with metastatic breast cancer and more. What differentiates us from other foundations are our critical focus areas: 1) specifically on young women – from ages 15 – 45; 2) on improving quality of life; and 3) on lifestyle and prevention, empowering young women to be their own best advocates.
