I started off just making jewelry for family and friends. Then I eventually entered craft shows and art exhibition. My first show was at the Visual Art Exchange in Raleigh, NC. From there, I began a collection of hand sculpted wood jewelry, inlayed with gemstones and metal. I would get on the phone and call up boutiques and galleries asking if they were interested in my collection. Finally, I got my break at the Labor of Love Gallery and I just keep going. Persistence is the key!

Although local children are gearing up to go back to school, hunger is still an issue for those that receive free and reduced lunches. To help end childhood hunger, the Arby’s Foundation is helping at-risk children in Raleigh receive free meals through its successful “School’s Out, Food’s In” program.
As part of the “School’s Out, Food’s In” initiative, Raleigh children who rely on meal assistance during the school year received meal cards to redeem 10 free, wholesome Arby’s kids meals throughout the summer.
