Urban Vintage is an indoor antique, retro, mid-century, industrial shopping event that will bring curated goods and sought after rusty junk to Market Hall in City Market for two days. The event will be open to the public Friday, March 4th, 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and Saturday, March 5th, 10:00 am until 5:00pm. Friday night is a preview and first dibs shopping that will cost a couple bucks to enter. Saturday will be FREE, all day long. There will be a cash bar both days, as well as other festivities in and around City Market First Friday night. Urban Vintage will be held at Market Hall, in downtown Raleigh. The entrance is located at 215 Wolfe Street in City Market, just south of Moore Square.
Urban Vintage was born from an idea to bring affordable collections to the Raleigh area for a temporary pop-up shopping event. The first Urban Vintage took place in August 2015. Record crowds shopped and vendors reported record breaking sales - a perfectly matched event. With the current population increase and new condos and homes being built all over the triangle, homeowners are looking for found, historical, and kitschy objects seen on some of the trending designer TV shows.
Interested collectors and curators from near and far applied for Urban Vintage throughout the winter. Applicants were juried and accepted with a focus on their collection, price point and reputation in the vintage event circuit. Urban Vintage is answering the need for an INDOOR, two day shopping experience - making long distance travel more appealing to vendors outside the Raleigh area.
The Handmaidens, producers of other local events, including The Handmade Market, ventured into the mid-century, vintage, industrial pop-up event genre last August. With a focus on local business and creating an inclusive atmosphere, sponsorship for Urban Vintage is offered to every economic level. Event sponsors for the March event include SuzAnna’s Antiques, DECO Raleigh, City Market, Galatea Boutique, and more.
