On Tuesday night, thanks to NC Blogger Network and NC Theatre, I was able to attend the opening night performance of Grease at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Raleigh!
I was so excited because I've been a fan of the movie Grease since I was a little girl! From the minute Danny and Sandy found out they'd be going to the same school to the last song and dance number of "You're The One That I Want", it's as if you've taken a step back in time to the 1950's. From the malt shop and Kenickie's car going from second-hand Dodgem to a perfect greaser car for the T-Birds to the drive-in and KZAZ's Vince Fontaine, plan on feeling like the movie has come to life right there on stage. The entire cast kept the production true to its original which makes this production a must-see this Valentine's Day weekend!
So grab your leather jackets and poodle skirts because Danny, Sandy, and the rest of the gang are coming to town! You'll be able to sing along to "Grease Lightnin'", "Summer Nights", and many more iconic Grease songs. And attend the high school sock hop with the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies! Show dates are February 9-14 with performances every night at 7:30pm and an extra show on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00pm. This would make a great Valentine's Day weekend date - or just a fun outing with the girls.
Tickets are still available and can be purchased through TicketMaster here or by calling the box office at 919.831.6941 ext 6944. Raleigh Memorial Auditorium is in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts at 2 E South Street in Downtown Raleigh.
