I spoke with Rebecca who has been with Dave and Buster’s for the last two years and manages the restaurant’s social media and marketing as well as all things involved with coordinating special events, birthday parties, community events, fundraising, and donations. In addition, she works with local schools and organizations and helps plan team appreciation parties as well as school spirit nights. She helps keep Dave and Buster's very involved with the community to say the least.
Rebecca had a lot of great things to say about our very own Dave and Buster's! One thing I learned during our visit was that although this particular restaurant, which opened 5 years ago, is the smallest chain and they do not have a lot of the accommodations that other Dave and Buster’s chains offer (bowling, pool tables, private bars, etc) they are in the top 5% of sales!! That is quite impressive and I think that it speaks a lot for their restaurant, staff, managers and our community. This particular chain puts forth effort to reach out to the community to establish relationships in the Richmond population with local organizations, schools, and other groups.
Dave and Buster’s has a wide variety of food choices, so whether you are picky or adventurous, they have it all including but not limited to: individual and whole table apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, steak, seafood, burgers, chicken, pasta, and more! I think the only thing I didn’t see on the menu was pizza!
I went with the Boss Chicken Club which is a grilled chicken sandwich with applewood smoked bacon, a garlic-herb cheese (so good!), avocado spread and frazzled onions on a toasted whole what bun with lettuce, tomato, and onion. This dish was delicious! The chicken was moist, the condiments fresh, and my favorite and most tasty part was the garlic-herb cheese and avocado spread. I threw my bad thoughts of “greasy, carb loaded fries” out the window and enjoyed the delicious treat….it was Friday after all! ;) And was it worth it? YES! Sometimes, you just have to treat yo’ self!
Carter ordered the kid’s mozzarella sticks with marina and fries. Surprisingly, this is not a common menu item for kids so when he ordered it, I was taken aback! But then I looked at the menu and sure enough, there are mozzarella sticks on the kids menu! What kid doesn’t love those?!?
If you visit the restaurant during the week, you will find that it is pretty relaxed. Weekends and nights tend to get busy, understandably so. Obviously, the game room (should I call it that? It is more like the game arena) is a big hit and the games are huge (literally and figuratively)! The best part about this restaurant is that the entire family can come and everyone has something to do. It is family friendly and can cater to all ages. Not only that, but to keep things fresh, the menu changes every 3 months on average and they are always adding new games.
They also have a private event space as well as a bar that you can use for smaller event groups and they recently revamped their “Winner’s Circle” (aka the prize room). In addition, the restaurant is gaining popularity among social sports leagues. They currently have a skee ball team that plays there on a regular basis and beginning this summer, a local kickball team will meet after their games to continue the fun!
So, if you are looking for something fun to do with a group of friends, your family or just need a couple of hours to yourself, this place is the place to be! Two for Tuesdays means $2 tacos and your fist two games for free! Wednesdays are 1/2 price games and Monday-Friday is “power hour” from 4:30-7:00 (same time as happy hour!) so purchasing a $10 power card gets you unlimited video game play on non ticket games.
If that doesn’t entice you, just remember, my son went there ONCE and then asked to have his birthday party there…if that doesn’t entice you to try it out, I don’t know what will!
