I don't know about you, but once Christmas is over-I'm done with decorating the house for a holiday...until Valentine's Day!
When my oldest son was around 3-4 years old, he always wanted me to go ALL out for EVERY holiday and decorate the whole house! First of all, I didn't have the money, secondly, I didn't have the time, and third, but most importantly, I didn't want to!
It wasn't until my sister and I went to Antique Alley, a bi-annual outdoor flea market that is AMAZING, and if you haven't done this, you MUST! We went during the Fall, and they had this super cute Christmas tree decorated in Halloween ornaments and fun stuff. That's when I realized, OMG-I can totally put up a baby tree, keep it up all year and exchange out the ornaments for the holiday that happens to be coming!
I have added it to a little vignette in the entry area and typically do a corresponding chalkboard art nearby, but otherwise, it's super easy to decorate for the upcoming holiday...whatever it may be! Now, my boys are older and don't care as much about all of the decor, and they like to harass me on my corny chalkboard art, but guess what? I like it now, and I'm not quitting, because I don't want to!
What kinds of things do you do for holidays around your house, besides Christmas? Show pics!
Let me start off by saying I am OBSESSED with California! Aside from Hollywood and that whole movie/celebrity scene, the other notable thing about California is the weather. Unlike Texas, Cali’s weather is pretty predictable. Sunny and 75 is commonplace and perfect!
When my bestie called and asked if my hubby and I wanted to join her and her hubby in LA for a few days, I said “Sign me up!” She, nor her husband had ever been, which was even better! We had been before many years ago, but to be with someone who has never seen Hollywood, Venice Beach, Sunset Boulevard, Beverly Hills, or Rodeo Drive is so great!
We stayed in a VRBO, which was in a perfect location for us! We took a chance, really. When booking in LA, you NEVER KNOW, unless of course, you are at the Beverly Hills Hotel, or Chateau Marmont, then, you know EXACTLY what you’re getting and where. Otherwise, you take a chance and we got lucky. We were within walking distance of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, The Kodak Theater, El Capitan Theater, Hollywood High School, and The Hotel Roosevelt, which has the BEST burgers in the world at the restaurant, 25 degrees, in the lobby.

My name is Dawn McKee. I live in Royse City, Tx with my husband, Billy; 2 boys, Grant (away at college) and Grayson, who is almost 11; and our 13 year old Labrador, Jewel. I've never passed an Estate Sale I didn't break for, and I HAVE to have my morning coffee...ALL DAY!!
