In this season of my life sleep has not come easy. I am often plagued with sleep deprivation because I just can’t turn my mind off. Due to a handful of added life stresses, my mind not turning off and having the bad practice of “working” in bed, my lack of sleep was starting to catch up with me.
Many top medical sites state that stress is the number one cause of sleep deprivation. And sometimes you just can’t help the stresses in life. Often times circumstances are out of my control and I just have to deal with them as they come to me. But that is just it. I have to deal with the stress and how I deal with the stress will dictate a reaction of other things like appetite and sleep.
If I handle stress correctly and keep with a routine that I know is better for my body, mind, and spirit then I will sleep better and not cause the painful cycle of sleep deprivation to continue.
And that’s when the Snoozecube bed comes in.
I had been sleeping on a mattress that had springs and over time those springs had worn out in the places I laid the most. This caused my body to have more stress on it in places that were already injured and in need of recovery.
My shoulder for instance. I have woken up timeless times after a very physical day at work with my shoulder in agonizing pain. And I assumed this pain was due to the fact that I slept on it wrong or in one position too long.
But after doing some research and partnering up with the Snoozecube bed I found out that my bed was the culprit. It was actually hurting my body more when I slept, not helping it rest and recover.
So here I am sore muscles, sleep deprivation trying to run a family with five children and multiple jobs on 5 or fewer hours of restless, painful sleep.
This was not a good combination.
But after sleeping on the Snoozecube bed for the past 30 nights I have seen a drastic difference in how my body feels and how my mind functions.
I have worked just as much physically and not woken up once with my aching shoulder. Plus I have made it a new rule for me to not work in bed. Cuz if I do my brain doesn’t shut off correctly. So even though my desk is 8 steps away it has helped me to settle into sleep easier. This along with the non-spring memory foam mattress has helped me get to sleep quicker and stay asleep longer.
Here are the 3 things that stood out to me about the mattress that I wasn’t getting from my old spring mattress.
*Bonus!! The cover is washable. Like I said, I have five kids. Sometimes that makes things messy and washing my mattress cover is going to be handy. I already had to wash it once and the zipper that goes around the brand covered mattress made it easier for execution. I was able to take off and put it back on my king size bed all by myself. The covers are replaceable as well. Just call customer service.
Partnering up with this company has been dream come true. No pun intended. This newly launched mattress company has given me a great night sleep and helped my body recover from many Mom-aches and pains.
Advice from a work-from-home mom of five...If you're in the market for a new mattress, get your snoozecube on!
This post is in partnership with Snoozecube Bed but the opinions are all my own.
.Who said you can’t fly?
Because now days you can. I tried it.
Ifly here in San Antonio collaborated with me to come out and experience a flight with them and some of my other blogger friends. It was by far the most exhilarating experience I have had since I climbed a fourteener in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.
First off, I was set up for some training video's and to learn safety standards to be sure I didn’t wreck myself or any of the fly equipment.
But let me paint this picture for you.
This is what they say to me in the video.
Stay flat, head up, relax….uh, what?!!
I can’t walk and chew gum. I thought for sure that I was not going to be able to fly. Or that I was going to slam my face into the clear plastic walls. Because doing all three of those things is surely going to end in disaster.
But it didn’t. It was way easier then I thought. Thomas was our official “fly guide.” He was gentle to let me in on this whirling wind tunnel. How he stayed grounded I have no idea because I was all “limbs up.”
Laying flat and keeping my head up while in “flying arm and leg position” felt pretty natural for the way the wind blew by. Plus with all Thomas’ direction, he made sure that I was at my optimum position for flight. And I was....see my photo below.
This experience is amazing. Flying through the air, circling and weightless. On the second flight I got a little in my head and had a hard time relaxing but I was still able to hold on to the position long enough for Thomas to send me whirling up the tube with him guiding.
It was breathtaking.
Literally breathtaking. I had to catch my breath once I left the tube. It pretty much feels like sticking your head out the window at 65 mph. It’s not hard to breath but it definitely helped to stay relaxed and to breath through my nose. (which you can see by this video that I didn’t do.)
All the ifly staff was great too. I got to chat with them about about their field trips that teach the STEM logistics of the wind tunnel. Plus they have a great little party room for birthdays or corporate parties. What a great way to celebrate with a gift of flight.
You can find all this info here on their website. They have many opportunities for flight. You can even fly if you are already certified as a skydiver.

Due to a wonderful chance to leave town for the weekend with my family for a conference, I was unable to make it to the Origin's Pampering event. But my dear friend Rachel of Simply Live Better and Revolution Thrift (opening in the fall of 2017) enjoyed the festivities. Here is what she has to say about the day.
If you haven't had the opportunity to visit Origins at La Cantera, be sure and make the effort to pop in one day while out shopping. Did you know Origins has been at La Cantera since it first opened over 11 years ago? I have to admit I had not seen the store tucked away in the northwest corner of the mall near Nordstrom. However, over a year ago it moved into a location on the main thoroughfare. It's now easy to spot near the new Mac Make-up store and across from Godiva Chocolate.
On April15th, Origins teamed up with Influenster to host a fun pampering event for he ladies. Origins provided free facials, make-overs, portrait sessions with an artist and even the ability to meet with a tea reader to have your fortune told.
When I arrived at Origins it was bustling with activity. I was greeted at the door by the Sales and Education Director, Ginger. She eagerly signed me up to participate in all the fun activities and introduced me to Charlie who shared with me a wonderful product called Sensory Therapy (TM) Peace of Mind (TM). Charlie took a small dab of this lotion and rubbed it on my earlobes sharing how this formula is fortified with nature’s best anxiety-melting ingredients: basil, peppermint, and eucalyptus which will make your muscles and worries melt away in minutes. He wasn't exaggerating. I did feel calm even in light of the constant activity in the store. This little gem will be a lifesaver on my next overseas flight!
I was able to peruse the store to learn a little more about the Origins products while drinking fruit infused water and snacking on scrumptious cupcakes provided by Saweet Cupcakes (TM) owned by Sherri and Dan Bellow.
I chatted with a few others ladies enjoying the afternoon until it was my turn to receive a facial. The experience was well worth the short wait. Alex, who has been working at Origins for 16 years, took the time to ask me about any problem spots and concerns for my skin. This helped me realize the company is truly focused on creating an individualized skin care routine for each customer. During the facial, Alex explained the product she was using and why it was used. She was also able to answer additional questions about skincare routines in general and give advice about how to make my current routine work even better for my skin type.
I asked Alex if she truly enjoyed her job since she had been with the company so long. She explained that Origins is an Estee Lauder Company and that it is an excellent organization to work for. In fact, she was one of the original employees to open the Origins store at La Cantera. Her love for the products and her work was easy to spot as she shared about the natural products her store carries.
Although I skipped the tea reading session and make-over, I did watch other ladies participating in these events. You could tell everyone was having a wonderful time. I headed outside to watch an employee of the Party Pros create sketches. These were not simple drawings hastily sketched out. These artistic sketches were done with care and looked great! I know the recipients were excited when receiving their portrait.
Last, but not least, I actually took time and chatted with some of the ladies spending time at the Origins Store. I honestly don't think we take the time to to talk with random strangers. This was an event that promoted that relaxed, fun environment to strike up a conversation with another lady who was enjoying the day. Who knows, maybe it was everyone relaxed by the Sensory Therapy (TM) Peace of Mind (TM) that created the enjoyable afternoon or maybe it was the friendly and knowledgable staff or maybe it was the fact that every woman enjoys a little time to get away and get pampered!
In any event, be sure and stop by Origins soon! Let them know you heard about them from San Antonio Housewives in the City Blog!

Let's get real.
Life keeps rolling on here and I am holding on by the edges these days.
Next Tuesday is the next San Antonio Housewives Girls Night Out at Silo Elevated and I am finalizing vendors, inviting businesses and outlining table set-ups at the venue. So much work but when the day comes it is always a blast and I am thankful for all the new people i get to meet and build business with.
I recently added Fibi & Clo to my work load which is exciting and exhausting all at the same time. Visit my boutique for prices and email me if you would like to join my team.
Watch my video below to see the revel of my new side hustle Fibi & Clo along with entering a giveaway for my 500 like THANK YOU to Local Coffee.
Partnering up with San Antonio Housewives in the City for our February Girls Night Out, is a sweet stylist and hair color mastermind Cassandra from bluemilk salon + creative space. She will be bringing the GNO guests her expertise on styling tips, using dry shampoo and how to make perfect beach waves all using her favorite product EVO.
The other day I had the fabulous oportunity to have my hair done by Ms Cassandra and from the moment I walked into the bluemilk zone, Sola Salon, I knew I was in for a different kind of hair styling experience.
Cassandra sat down with me face to face. She asked questions about my hair goals, what I loved about my hair, what I wanted to improve. She took notes and gave suggestions all in the right places.
There was no rushing here.
No hurrying for a break or to meet her next client.
Just calm and peaceful.
I had been wanting to grow my natural greys out but in such a way that was classy and as low maintenance as possible.
We discussed if bayalage hair painting or foils would be best.
And foils one this time around.
As we chatted away about life, experiences and general getting to know one another while Cassandra was weaving color into my hair. She spent time rinsing my hair and conditioning it in such away as to create the least amount of damage to it.
Cassandra cares about using good products on your hair that are: 1.) less harmful for the hair 2.) also less harmful for the environment. And that includes sustainability of ingredients .After putting some amazing EVO products on my hair, and blowing it out, she shaped it to style.
I was in awe! The fact that she was able to make me look like a classy, naturally greying (younger rather than older) woman was beyond me. The highlights were so natural and true to my color you can’t even tell. The are just helping me blend away all the old color and bringing out the natural highlights I am wanting more of.
Looking for a good hair stylist can be challenging. Often women spend years unhappy with their hair but not knowing how to express their need to change. If that is you maybe you should chat with Cassandra and see if she would be a good fit for styling your hair.
You can find Cassandra on FB here or IG here. She is also a mastermind at posting photos of clients before and after on IG along with having a passion for teaching stylists the importance of furthering their hair-ucation and growing their salon businesses.
Love you Cassandra!
"Think like a Queen. A Queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness" -Oprah Winfrey
This is my mantra on life and how I live. I am not scared to fail because that motivates me more if I do. I learn to live one day at a time and will never be too old for it.
I enjoy spending time with boyfriend whether it's traveling, reading a book, trying new eateries or playing with my dog. I find myself as easy going as it gets.
