Even though it is the down season for Canyon Lake and most Bed & Breakfasts, Biscuit Hill did not disappoint us this weekend. Nestled into the Hill Country around Canyon Lake is this great getaway run by Dean and Diane Reed.
The main house is beautifully decorated with country style antiques (which I love to admire) and a touch of Christmas still. We were a bit late to check-in (they ask that we do so between 3-4) but we had personalized note on the door with all the appropriate information.
The hubs and I brought some cheese and meats to snack on while watching a movie to close out our night. The next morning we we were able to make coffee in our own room until breakfast was ready at 9:30. We came down to the breakfast room and found a beautiful table set for us and the other couple that were guests.
We enjoyed a lovely breakfast of c-o-f-f-e-e (!!!) plus walnut-cranberry pancakes with hash browns and baked apples & cinnamon.
Canyon Lake has a handful of outdoor things to do like hiking, bike riding, boating and fishing (obviously!) but we were excited to spend the chilly day in the room just enjoying conversations, music, a light sushiya lunch (that we got from Trader Joe’s on the way to the B&B) and reading.
After a decent dinner at a Tex-Mex restaurant close by (only because we were too late to make reservations for the really great italian restaurant Gennaro’s Trattoria once we finally made a decision to eat there :/), Las Barcas we enjoyed another relaxing evening watching a movie and snuggling in the room.
The next morning we woke up to this fine breakfast of spinach and mushroom omelet croissants with potatoes and sausage with Mexican relish along with a cup of fruit and a cream cheese blueberry breakfast cake sitting in some kind of amazing buttery frosting.
Since there was a cold front in early December the grounds definitely had that winter feel but the cozy warm rooms with the great beds and blankets along with the yummy food made this getaway exactly what the hubs and I were needing. Thanks for the R&R Biscuit HIll!
Happy New Year!

"Think like a Queen. A Queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness" -Oprah Winfrey
This is my mantra on life and how I live. I am not scared to fail because that motivates me more if I do. I learn to live one day at a time and will never be too old for it.
I enjoy spending time with boyfriend whether it's traveling, reading a book, trying new eateries or playing with my dog. I find myself as easy going as it gets.
