Meet Helen King of Wine-O-Helen. Last month at our girls night out at Bar Louie in Stone Oak Helen won the Housewives Approved Business. All the guests voted and she came out on top. And it’s easy to understand why. Helen offers a great product delivered right to you door. No pressure, just fun wines and good times.
Here is a little more about Helen and how she is Leading Lady in the WineShop at Home industry.
Tell us about your business and how you became the successful business woman you are today.
I became a Wine Consultant with WineShop at Home last year after being a wine tasting host and customer for the last year. I have been in direct sales/multi-level marketing for several years with other companies and I was looking to add something new to my brand that had a product and company I was passionate about. I love sharing a unique and fun experience with others. That is what keeps me motivated to keep going. I also love using my business to support charities/causes through donations and fundraisers. It makes me feel good to do my small part of helping others.
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Being able to donate $200 last year to the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation and the Movember Foundation.
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
To help 3 people get started in this business opportunity, earn my companies 2019 incentive trip and donate to even more causes.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
I love to plan events so I think being some type of event planner/coordinator would be fun.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
Scheduling out my tasks/week as much as possible. I remember better when I write things down and feel accomplished when I can cross things off my to do list so I keep a calendar/planner in my purse at all times. Sticking to the schedule is key.
What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in your city?
! love going down to the Pearl Brewery there are lots of great restaurants and bars. I also like Fiesta in April and I'm a big movie buff so I am at the movies theaters often (preferably a Santikos).
What is your goal for retirement?
I’m not sure if I will ever "fully retire", I always have to keep busy. I do want to be able to travel more and spend time with my love ones.
Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
Go for it! Find your passion and skill set then utilize that to start a business. Set your own goals, don't be afraid to start small if you have to and work your way up.
Helen’s favorite quote: “Being in business is a marathon not a sprint and "Don't compare your Chapter 1 to someone else's Chapter 20."
