Due to a wonderful chance to leave town for the weekend with my family for a conference, I was unable to make it to the Origin's Pampering event. But my dear friend Rachel of Simply Live Better and Revolution Thrift (opening in the fall of 2017) enjoyed the festivities. Here is what she has to say about the day.
If you haven't had the opportunity to visit Origins at La Cantera, be sure and make the effort to pop in one day while out shopping. Did you know Origins has been at La Cantera since it first opened over 11 years ago? I have to admit I had not seen the store tucked away in the northwest corner of the mall near Nordstrom. However, over a year ago it moved into a location on the main thoroughfare. It's now easy to spot near the new Mac Make-up store and across from Godiva Chocolate.
On April15th, Origins teamed up with Influenster to host a fun pampering event for he ladies. Origins provided free facials, make-overs, portrait sessions with an artist and even the ability to meet with a tea reader to have your fortune told.
When I arrived at Origins it was bustling with activity. I was greeted at the door by the Sales and Education Director, Ginger. She eagerly signed me up to participate in all the fun activities and introduced me to Charlie who shared with me a wonderful product called Sensory Therapy (TM) Peace of Mind (TM). Charlie took a small dab of this lotion and rubbed it on my earlobes sharing how this formula is fortified with nature’s best anxiety-melting ingredients: basil, peppermint, and eucalyptus which will make your muscles and worries melt away in minutes. He wasn't exaggerating. I did feel calm even in light of the constant activity in the store. This little gem will be a lifesaver on my next overseas flight!
I was able to peruse the store to learn a little more about the Origins products while drinking fruit infused water and snacking on scrumptious cupcakes provided by Saweet Cupcakes (TM) owned by Sherri and Dan Bellow.
I chatted with a few others ladies enjoying the afternoon until it was my turn to receive a facial. The experience was well worth the short wait. Alex, who has been working at Origins for 16 years, took the time to ask me about any problem spots and concerns for my skin. This helped me realize the company is truly focused on creating an individualized skin care routine for each customer. During the facial, Alex explained the product she was using and why it was used. She was also able to answer additional questions about skincare routines in general and give advice about how to make my current routine work even better for my skin type.
I asked Alex if she truly enjoyed her job since she had been with the company so long. She explained that Origins is an Estee Lauder Company and that it is an excellent organization to work for. In fact, she was one of the original employees to open the Origins store at La Cantera. Her love for the products and her work was easy to spot as she shared about the natural products her store carries.
Although I skipped the tea reading session and make-over, I did watch other ladies participating in these events. You could tell everyone was having a wonderful time. I headed outside to watch an employee of the Party Pros create sketches. These were not simple drawings hastily sketched out. These artistic sketches were done with care and looked great! I know the recipients were excited when receiving their portrait.
Last, but not least, I actually took time and chatted with some of the ladies spending time at the Origins Store. I honestly don't think we take the time to to talk with random strangers. This was an event that promoted that relaxed, fun environment to strike up a conversation with another lady who was enjoying the day. Who knows, maybe it was everyone relaxed by the Sensory Therapy (TM) Peace of Mind (TM) that created the enjoyable afternoon or maybe it was the friendly and knowledgable staff or maybe it was the fact that every woman enjoys a little time to get away and get pampered!
In any event, be sure and stop by Origins soon! Let them know you heard about them from San Antonio Housewives in the City Blog!

"Think like a Queen. A Queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness" -Oprah Winfrey
This is my mantra on life and how I live. I am not scared to fail because that motivates me more if I do. I learn to live one day at a time and will never be too old for it.
I enjoy spending time with boyfriend whether it's traveling, reading a book, trying new eateries or playing with my dog. I find myself as easy going as it gets.
