Killer Success Strategies to help get you to the next level:
Get a thick skin, fast.If only entrepreneurship were the incredible wonderland of constant bank deposits, enthusiastic applause and warm ‘atta-girls’ you always imagined it would be. Once you actually enter the turbulent waters of the small business arena, you will quickly realize that a thick skin is required. It's a feature that has certainly served sharks well.
Just keep swimming.
In business, you’re either growing or slowing. Shark Week makes it clear that, while not all sharks have to keep swimming to keep breathing, some do— much like entrepreneurs.
Do your most important work in the morning.
Sharks do their most important work — hunting — in the early morning and early evening, both timeframes being ideal for their ultimate success. I’m part of a growing crowd of entrepreneurs who are boldly proclaiming the magic of those early morning hours. It’s when we can do our most important work — without interruption and distraction. Those magical hours are when we can move our own agenda forward, take new ground and lay the groundwork for the success we desire — before the rest of the world wakes up.
Get to know your targets. If Shark Week teaches us nothing else, it’s that sharks have finely honed predatory skills. Each different species of shark has its own hunting techniques and habits, suited perfectly for its prey of choice. Because they know their prey as well as they know their surroundings, they’re the undisputed rulers of the sea. While I don’t ever recommend looking at your market as “prey,” one of the best things a small business owner will ever do is get to know her target market more intimately than anyone else.
