In the Spring I always find myself looking for ways to brighten up my makeup and wardrobe. Do you do that also? We are so excited to say that Dawn Skaff with Mary Kay is going to be at our event on Thursday and able to help! Visit her table to learn of the new products and colors that are available for this Spring season. Here's what she has to share with us:
I began my business in 2014. I wanted an opportunity where I not only could work my business when I wanted to but I can earn money to have choices. Having my business gives me the opportunity to make people’s lives better, when a woman feels confident, she’s able to push past those thoughts that there’s no more growth in her life that the stars are the limit. I choose Mary Kay because it’s rewards courage and growth. I’m also part of a company whose values align with mine. Faith first, family second, career third. An average work will involve contacting party hostesses, conducting parties and then following-up with clients. It can be 4 to 5 hours a day depending on the activity and income that I desire to earn. I chose Mary Kay as an opportunity because women always want to feel and look beautiful, and to be confident.
My motivation is my parents they have always supported me and as they get older I want to do the as much for them as possible. I describe myself as committed to integrity. I advise women to be brave and don't doubt.
Dawn would like to be in leadership and also to be a motivational speaker. She maintains her busy schedule by using tools that help me to plan my week and the days within the week. Some of her favorite websites are Lifepoint Church, CNN and WTOP. In her spare time some of her favorite things to do are visit the local library and walk the trails along the Rappahannock River. Her life goal is to have the resources to help those in need.
She advises to women considering starting their own business to ensure that the business is something you are passionate about and that it meets a need. You must also the research to know what resources you will need and what those resources will cost.
See her Thursday! email@example.com www.marykay.com/dscaff

Housewives! Meet Brooke Grossman, with Pure Romance. This lady has literally traveled the world educating folks! She will be one of our amazing vendors at Thursday's event. Look at what she has to share...
In February 2012, as a mother to a 14 month old little girl, a Military spouse in a new area without any friends, and needing something a bit more in my relationship, I stumbled across a friend’s post about this business venture selling romance enhancement products. At first, I was skeptic with many questions and after much consideration, I found it was the business for me. Since then I have been able to learn how to communicate better in my relationship, discover and learn to become the woman I was meant to be outside of being a stay at home mom and help many others do the same through educating and empowering them during my in-home party presentations. Over the years, I have been able to work as little or as much as I want meeting with ladies one on one, doing parties, or working with team members that are spread out through the USA. I have also been able to take my business to multiple locations including Okinawa, Japan. My biggest motivation in my Pure Romance business is knowing that I have been able to make a difference in my clients’ lives.
She describes herself as Bold, Independent, Resourceful.
My greatest professional achievement has been being able to find my purpose by serving others with my experience and knowledge. While also being a Pure Romance consultant, I help individuals and couples with their personal finances through budgeting and financial literacy. Serving individuals/couples in both of these areas are HUGE passions of mine.
As a Pure Romance consultant, my goal is to rebuild my business in the Virginia area after living overseas and hold 50 parties to educate more women on sexual health. As an Accredited Financial Counselor candidate, I will pass my exam and add educate more individuals/couples on personal finance.
Personally, I do not have any other professions I would want to attempt professions as my focus is set in educating women about sexual health and financial literacy to all.
How does she maintain a good work life balance? Well I learned a while ago that balance is simply making sure I am “all in” on my priorities and doing them bite by bite. I am fortunate that being able to meet new people for business can be done in everyday conversations while out and about running errands with family.
Some of her favorite sites that are visited on the regular are Facebook, Pure Romance online office, Google for recipes, YouTube for motivational videos & Gmail
Around the Quantico/Stafford area, so far I am loving Potomac Point Winery, Bella Café, and Stafford Massage & Healing Arts. I know there are plenty more places I would love to check out that are local to the area and can’t be found anywhere else.
Currently, my retirement goal is to be sailing in the sunshine and to travel throughout the world with my husband.
My advice for women thinking about starting their own business: Find something you are passionate about and it will radiate through to your clients. If you make mistakes or have setbacks, remember they are there for lessons to learn and you can always grow from them.
We look forward to seeing you Thursday!! #PureRomance #SelfCare #Womenshealth
Meet Tina Corr Lynn! She’s caring, crafty, dependable and she’s going to share Norwex with us at our January event!
Let's get to know her a bit! Here's a quick share from Tina.
I retired after 33 years of Federal service in February 2017. My retirement plan was to expand my home embroidery business, Nannie Annie's Embroidery. As much as I like to sew and embroider, after a year I missed being around people. In November 2017 I attended a Norwex home party. I had never heard of cleaning with just microfiber and water and was intrigued. After much consideration I signed up to be a Norwex sales consultant in January 2018, not so much for the money, but to educate others about the dangers of the chemicals in our homes and to meet new people.
I am now a Team Coordinator with four people on my team and am enjoying helping them succeed with their Norwex businesses. I put in approximately 15-20 hours a week preparing for parties, doing follow-up with customers, mentoring those on my team and researching products. I try hard to make my in-home parties fun as well as educational. I love watching a hostess' face when they realize how many Norwex products they have earned for free by hosting a party. Being a Norwex consultant is rewarding, fun and profitable.
My greatest professional achievement to date, with Norwex, has been to promote to Team Coordinator. I didn't join as a consultant with plans to promote. My goal for the next six months is to educate as many people as I can about reducing chemicals from their homes.
Being a Norwex consultant is actually my 3rd career. I was a contract specialist for the Navy for 33 years. I started my embroidery business 4 years ago and continue to take orders from customers who want items embroidered. The embroidery business was the other profession that I wanted to try. My plate is now full with embroidery and Norwex.
At this stage in my life, I do not have the responsibilities that those with full time jobs or children at home have, so I don't have work to keep my life balanced. What I do with Norwex is fun for me, so I don't consider it to be work. But to those younger women trying to keep a balance, I suggest making sure to take "me time" to keep yourself energized for others.
My husband and I are both homebodies and don't go out often. We attend Bethel Baptist Church where we are involved in many activities. We do enjoy eating at Sakae Thai and Sushi Bar located on Chatham Heights Road and my daughter, niece and I enjoy "girl time" at the Family Nails Care and Spa in the Woodlawn Shopping Center on Deacon Road.
www.Etsy.com; www.Fredericksburg.com, www.facebook.com and www.Norwex.biz are her top websites she visits daily.
I have already reached my retirement goal. Now I'm having too much fun with Norwex to retire again! Advice I have for ladies starting their own business is to read every word before you sign anything. Don't allow anyone to tell you what the fine print says.”
I am looking forward to being part of this event and providing information on how to turn homes into safe havens.
Tina, we are looking forward to getting to know you and Norwex better!
At a recent craft expo I had the great pleasure of meeting Matthew McClelland, Photographer and Artist with KPN Images here in the Fredericksburg area. I bought some items from him and grabbed his card. I knew right away that I wanted to have him at our event! He was warm, welcoming, and had this amazing energy.
We got a chance to get together this week. Let me tell you...this guy is so insightful! It was a great meeting and I can share with you that he has agreed to shoot our event this month! He's creative, colorful and adventurous. I think he's going to capture the Housewives in a wonderful and unique way! He explained that his approach is to catch the non-posed and most natural you. To me, this is a foreign concept in our "selfie" world but I'm willing to give it a go.
He's a nature lover as you will see when you find him on Social Media. He mentioned camping in the Winter, he loves it so much! I'll appreciate his adventures through his work and from the comfort of a heated room!
You can find Matthew on social media @KPNImages and you'll get the chance to meet him in person on the 24th. He has just started a coffee mug line as well and hopefully have some at the event!
As 2019 rolled in, I was in a deep and peaceful sleep. It's apparent based on the number of drunken texts and FB posts that some took ringing in the New Year to iconic levels!! Kudos to you!!
This morning with coffee in hand I find myself staring at this and wanting to fill it with such noble entries as promote world peace, save the children, save an animal, etc. (You know how it goes) One of my hard 2019 resolutions though is to read more. I recently attended a talk by James Clear, author of Atomic Habits. It's a New York Times Best Seller. He offers a way to build good habits and break the bad by making slight changes, minimal if you will, and celebrating the victory of achievement with each. One example was if your long term goal is to go to the gym everyday set a goal of going for 5 minutes at first. (Stay with me on this.) If you set your mind to going for 5 minutes 4 times a week and you succeed, you will want to increase that. You'll be building momentum on the feeling of success as opposed to telling yourself that your going to go to the gym 5 days a week and work out for 2 hrs a day and on day number two you're so sore you can't move and therefore don't go back at all. What will inspire and convince you to return? If you've been riding the couch, have Dominos on speed dial and your jeans are magically shrinking by the day....chances are good that a workout like that might just kill you! (in all seriousness though, it's not likely that you'll want to go back)
I'm going to be taking the baby steps this year. So instead of saving an elephant herd in Africa, I'll be feeding a stray neighborhood cat. Instead of saving a village, I'll offer a stressed out mom an afternoon of free babysitting so that she can reconnect with her inner goddess or just get a long overdue nap.
So Happy New Year to us all and set yourself up for success!! Join us for our New Year, New You, Girls Night Out Networking Social on the 24th of January. We will be at Cancun Margarita at the Spotsylvania Towne Center beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Visit James Clear's website JamesClear.com and you can find him on IG @james_clear.
