Hello wonderful folks of Austin! I hope everyone is doing well and finally enjoying this nice warm weather. Is it just me or does it seem like this years winter has dragged on and on and on...? Well, either way, I'm happy it is warming up and Spring is in the air which is my favorite season in Austin. April is my favorite month actually, not just because that's my birthday month but because I think it is the most beautiful time of year in our amazing city!
I wanted to get on here to give a shout out to all of our amazing vendors we had at last week's Girls Night Out event at The Brass Tap in the Domain! This event was SO fun! Even though it was cold and raining out, we had over 100 guests come check out our event and there was a lot of great networking and socializing going on. If you didn't make it out, I hope to see you at our March GNO on the 28th at the Sonesta Hotel Rooftop in Bee Cave! If you didn't have a chance to chat with some of our vendors at the event or if you missed it completely, please feel free to reach out to them directly. They would all love to hear from you and help you with your needs!

Last week at our February event we were so honored to spotlight the local organization: Happy Birthdays! The organizers Lisa & Suzanne are absolutely a delight to work with and we had so much fun the whole evening.
We collected donations for them for things like gift cards, unopened toys, unopened birthday cards, etc. All things that you would need to have a wonderful birthday party! If you've never heard of them then you should head over to their website and learn a little more about this amazing local charity!
They have a super fun Ladies Only event coming up on May 10th from 6:30-9:30 at Rock Rose Hall: Black Dresses for Birthdays Ladies Night! Head over to Eventbrite to grab your ticket which includes drinks, heavy appetizers and desserts. This is for Ladies only. There will be raffle prizes including a Frye purse and wallet and a night at the Domain including a room at the Archer. There will also be swag bags, a braid bar, dancing and more! Tickets are on sale now so get yours here and I'll see you there!
Mission: We provide all the goodies for an entire birthday party in a box for foster and homeless children in Central Texas. Every child deserves a birthday party, right? We know there are many children whose special day passes each year without being recognized. Our goal is to bring a little birthday joy to as many of them as possible.
Happy Monday folks! I wanted to get on here to try and give you all some encouragement as I've found myself needing some as well. With each new year, I try to give myself reasonable and needed resolutions. I've been going through some personal issues which has made me (for the first time in my life) become a snacker and a person who has a sweet tooth. I'm being serious, I've really never loved candy, cookies, cakes, brownies, etc. but it seems now I just can't get enough of them. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older, the personal crap I'm going through, or just something else all together but it's not very helpful when I'm really trying to get myself as healthy as possible. So I decided this weekend I was going to make a few healthy dishes to get me through the week and so far it's helped. I also bought some really amazing and healthy soup and salad from a girlfriend who makes it and sells it, just what I need sometimes for a quick and easy meal!
So this weekend I made homemade egg salad, using organic greek yogurt rather than mayo and it's pretty tasty. I'm putting it in a whole wheat wrap rather than using bread, which isn't the best but I know it's better for my body so I'll suck it up! I also just sliced up a large English cucumber and soaked it in some vinegar, lemon juice, salt, onion powder, pepper and fresh dill. This is something easy I can snack on when I feel the hunger kicking in. Lastly, yesterday I made from scratch tuna casserole and it was a huge hit in this house. It made a ton so I can have leftovers and was seriously delicious.
I just wanted to let you all know it's okay if we slip every once in a while with our food, I mean I LOVE food and could never just eat eggs and cucumbers forever but it also feels good to be healthy and start taking responsibility for the things I put in my body. I'm including the links below to both the egg salad and the tuna casserole that I made. I added carrots and broccoli into my tuna casserole as well as the veggies that it calls for. Now I'm not saying this prevented me from having my four double stuffed Oreos with a glass of milk last night, but hey, it's all about balance!

Enjoy friends and please feel free to share any healthy exciting recipes you love, I would be so happy to get more that I can enjoy!
Well folks, we are now into February with Valentine's Day just around the corner. Some of us love this holiday and others despise it. Whether married, dating, single or it's complicated, I'd like to hear some of your traditions on this day of love. I have been married for 4 1/2 years but I've been with him exclusively for almost 11 years! Yes you read that right, I was a baby when I met the greatest and smartest man alive. I had no idea at 21 years old that in a decade from then, I'd be married to my boyfriend, living in Austin (we met in San Diego and lived in LA for years), owning my dream house, owning three Weiner dogs whom I'm absolutley obsessed with, practicing real estate, planning monthly women's networking events and trying to start a family! Like whoa, life can be so crazy and unpredictable but incredibly beautiful with the timing of things.
Anyways, so I've never really been that into V-day, just because I get annoyed by the crowds, having to make reservations months in advance for the good places, spending a ton of money which is unnecessary, etc. I have always been happy to get a card and some beautiful flowers (yes I still expect flowers on this day EVERY year) and I like to make a nice yummy dinner at home for Chris and I. Then we usually do something fun that weekend like go on a little trip or out for a night on the town. This year I am so excited because we are going to see "Masters of Dance" put on by Ballet Austin! I grew up dancing, still take some classes here and there and am in love with anything dance all the time. I will let y'all know how the show is.
I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day whether it's spending time with your best girlfriends, having a romantic night in with the hubby, going out on the town for some drinks, or just staying home to soak in a nice bath. :) I'll be coming out with my top 5 restaurant picks for that special day soon!
Now that you know what we always do on this day, what are some of your Valentine's Day traditions? Do you get surprises? Do you ship the kids to grandma's and get crazy?? I want to know!
