This past week, women all over the world celebrated International Women's Day. As a mother of a young girl, I want her to know why I celebrate this day. I want her to know that there were women who came before us. Women who stepped outside of the norm and stood up for what they believed. Women who wanted to have their voices heard. Women who wanted to be able to vote. Today's women can truly be anything they set their minds to. They have the beautiful thing called choice. They can be doctors, lawyers or they can stay home and raise beautiful babies. I think it's a wonderful thing.
On this day, I always think about the women who came before me who taught me what I know today. These are the women who showed me how to be strong, how to forgive, how to love. The women who stood beside me in the kitchen as a child and showed me how to feed my family well. How to be a good steward with what I'm given. How to power through when things get tough. I want them to know that I will be forever grateful for everything they've done.
What does International Women's Day mean to you?
Hi! My name is Mandie and I'm a transplant from WV. I moved to SC in 2015 on a whim after we came down here on vacation and didn't want to leave! I'm a mom to 2 and a furbaby. I teach essential oils classes, I host Girls Night Out events, meet ups, and write about events and my adventures in the Charleston area. I'm a foodie at heart and think that charcuterie should be it's own food group!
