Describe yourself in three words?
Determined. Balanced. Fun.
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
When I redesigned ten (10) websites in ten (10) months in seven (7) different languages! WHOA!
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
This is a big year for DCM. I've got a new eCommerce aspect about to launch on my website that will provide me with the passive income that allows me to take on more clients because I can truly help them, even if they can't pay my normal fees.
What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Spinning instructor. I got into indoor cycling almost 7 years ago and worked part-time at a studio in Washington DC before moving to Chattanooga. I 100% LOVED IT! The emotional, mental and physical benefits are just amazing. To be able to share that love and the proven benefits (while having fun!) with someone else is just awesome.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
3 big things:
1. I have desk-days on Monday and Friday. No meetings, no phone calls (unless urgent) and just days to get stuff done.
2. I exercise. Like 4-5 times a week in order to give myself a mental break.
3. Unless I'm on deadline for a project, I don't work on the weekends. It's a hard line and I'm very clear with my clients about when they can expect to hear from me.
What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in your city?
In the spring/fall/summer, that answer is easy: outside! Chattanooga is the Scenic City for a reason and I love to do anything outside (when the weather is nice of course) including: white water rafting on the Ocoee (So much fun!!), runs with my dog through downtown or at Volkswagon nature park, music festivals downtown or simply floating on the river. Oh, and let' snot forget about Play. Wash. Pint. Sully (my chocolate lab) and I LOVE to go here. Play for him, and socializing for me: win win!
In the winter, I tend to stay indoors. (Southerner through and through, the cold and I do not agree.) There are so many great local restaurants and bars but a few of my favorites: Heaven and Ale, Taco Mamacita (and not only only Taco Tuesdays), The Flying Squirrel, Basecamp, Brewhaus, and Track 29.
What is your goal for retirement?
Travel, time with my (future) husband, more runs with my dog, volunteering more often and NOT worrying about money. I've traveled a lot in my life but there is still so much more I want to see. I want to be able to not only visit new places (and my family, which is spread out all over the country) but to do it right without worrying about every dollar I spend. I want the experience.
Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
Do it! But first, do some serious self reflection and research. There's a lot of fun that comes with owning your business and doing what you love, but there's also a lot doing all the other tasks you may not love that are required when you are the boss. Think taxes, accounting, contracts, sales, seemingly endless emails, health insurance plans, etc. If you can handle that, then do 100% do it. Even on my the hardest days I am still SO much happier running my company than if I worked for someone else.

Okay moms. I know there are some of you out there who have minimal time for makeup. I totally feel you. Today I’m sharing a simple 5 Minute Mom Makeup Tips with you guys for those days you have all of 2 minutes to get yourself ready and want to look a little less like you just rolled out of bed.
IT ALL STARTS WITH SKINCARE
This is where most of your "glowing face" comes from. Make the investment of time and a little money to Sephora and talk to them about your skincare. I personally use a light exfoliate, anti-aging creme wash, a toner followed by eye creme, hyraluronic acid serum and moisturizing face creme. Every night and morning I wash, tone and apply my skincare, it's amazing that those little steps make my skin look better immediately!
CONCEALER IS EVERYTHING
Don't like foundation? That's great, don't need it! Get a couple different shades of concealer. One can be a peachy tone for covering the undereye darkness, something a shade or two lighter for under eye brightness and 2-3 shades darker to tap in as a cream bronzer.
EYEBROWS, EYEBROWS, EYEBROWS!
Eyebrows frame the face, especially if you wear glasses like I do. Eyebrows can fully finish and transform your face. Not sure what shape works best for you? Snag some eyebrow stencils, Anastasia Beverly Hills makes a pack and try them out. I have a set and they are awesome for days when I don't want to put effort into my brows, just trace the stencil, fill in and DONE!
MASCARA - GET ONE, AN AMAZING ONE!
Again, it's worth the investment at Sephora to find one. My personal favs? L'Oreal Telescopic or Lash Paradise or the Mr. Big by Lancome is amazing. Or pull a me and get eyelash extensions, I need to get mine done again!
GLOSS IT UP!
Keep those lips looking hydrated and plump with gloss. It can be clear or have a tint but it does make a huge difference. I currently use the LipSense Glossy Gloss or Orchid Gloss (I am a rep) or you can get a simple one like Wet n' Wild, they all kind of do the same thing, just make sure it hydrates!
That's it! It's that simple, a couple minutes and investment on your skin and you'll have the glow up you've always wanted. What are some of your staple beauty products or do you have any questions about beauty that I can answer?
There are a lot of reasons why self-care is important, but here are a few of the main ones:
Although you can practice self-care at any time, it works best if you make it part of your daily routine.
Here are a couple strategies to help you make self-care an essential part of your daily life:
We reached out to the Chattanooga community to find the FIVE BEST restaurants to celebrate Valentine's Day with your significant other. Sometimes deciding on where to eat for Valentine's Day or date night can be a little stressful (if you're anything like us, it usually takes a while to decide!) Hopefully this list will make your planning a little easier!
BANGBANG SHRIMP AND COCKTAILS AT BONEFISH GRILL (GUNBARRELL ROAD, CHATTANOOGA)
I'm a HUGE fan of the Winter White Cosmo, so this is kind of a no brainer for us. I'm also a pescatarian (meaning I only eat seafood, no other meat) so a seafood-ish venue is something that's a must on our Valentine's Day menu checklist.
STEAKS AT CANYON GRILL (LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN)
My husband is a huge steak fan so a great one can be hard to find, not at Canyon Grill. Always yummy, always beautiful. The scenery is worth the trip alone, and I've heard the lamb chops are to die for!
RUTH CHRIS STEAKHOUSE (HAMILTON PLACE)
Sometimes you want to be casual for Valentine's Day, sometimes you want to be all dolled up and taken out. Ruth Chris is the perfect place for this. We love the ambience and the aromas when you walk in, it smells like heaven! The cocktails are amazing as well.
SIDETRACK (RED BANK)
Custom signature drinks with a twist, leather tufted booths and wood fired everything on the menu makes SideTrack a wonderful addition to our list. The wedge salad has blue cheese but with a creamy undertone. The steak, salads and pizza come out of a wood fired grill and the Adult Smore is about my favorite dessert in Chattanooga so far.
CASUAL ROMANCE (MELLOW MUSHROOM, BROAD ST. & HAMILTON PLACE)
Sometimes you are both working late or maybe he planned a romantic meal that he cooked at home but it failed. This is where casual romance comes in. It's quick, it's easy and it's yummy while you laugh over the mess in the kitchen. Mellow Mushroom is great for this! Who doesn't love pizza and beer, the atmosphere is casual, fun and light, the perfect no-muss, no-fuss night with your favorite person!
Have a fantastic Valentine's Day!! Let me know in the comments what your fave go to's are!!
