,Girl in the Kitchen author, and Top Chef winner, Stephanie Izard, has a restaurant called Little Goat Diner and it just went on my top favorites list. Some people probably feel that 5 starts on a Top Chef restaurant is purely bias but let me assure you this rating is well deserved.
I highly recommend using Open Table to make your reservation with ease as there is a substantial turnout, even during weekday lunch; though it's more than worth the wait.
This Art Deco diner meets Midwest Mom & Pop is done right. As they say, "it's all in the details" and this place hits the nail on the head. Clean lines & neutral colors accented by kitschy yet bold signs and furniture project a scene from a good movie.
The menu may be a bit of a risk taking for people who prefer mild, classic and simple flavors but it tastes like absolute heaven. I am not one of those people so I promptly followed the waiter's suggestion to try "The Little Pig Went to China" which then became one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever eaten. A sesame cheddar biscuit filled with szechuan pork sausage & PERFECTLY cooked sunny side up eggs, bathing in a sea of a chili, garlic and chive sauce... I honestly have never been so surprised by a breakfast dish and cannot wait to go back.
To top it all off, as if the fresh bakery & legitimate espresso station weren't enough, there is a photo booth that takes credit cards & cash, 2 minutes of your time & pops out a color AND B+W photo strip. Yes. This place is totally bucket list worthy; if it's not on yours yet I suggest you pencil it in!
