What a CRAZY week! We were SO busy at my new job, one of my BEST girl friends moved back to Denver after being gone for 14 years and I was given the opportunity to try some of the best food that Denver has to offer! If you haven't read my last post about our Valentine's Day round up, go read it already! There are some AMAZING deals out there... not only for our beloved Hallmark Holiday but these spots are perfect for any type of celebration; whether it is your BFF moving back, a birthday or just a Wednesday night! Check out my week of professional eating below!
Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House
8100 E Orchard Rd, Denver, CO 80111
Last Monday after work, my honey and I hurried over to the infamous Del Frisco's in the Tech Center, conveniently off of I25 and Orchard to eat dinner together. Nick is a brewer at a local craft brewery in Parker (Elk Mountain, soon to be Downhill Brewing) and sometimes his hours are crazy but he made his schedule work for me this night!
As soon as we arrived, we were sat and introduced to our server Sarah! She was incredible and totally helped us make our decisions on what to order from the menu. It was kind of like going to the grocery store when you're hungry and you end up leaving with 72 things that you didn't really need. I just couldn't figure out what to settle on because EVERYTHING on the menu looked SO good. We started with a couple drinks (Nick ordered their VIP Drink with Clementine and Pineapple infused Vodka that they infuse in-house!) and their simple but amazing tasting of Shrimp. The three sauces were amazing; a mustard aioli, classic cocktail sauce and a garlic vinaigrette! Next, we ordered the burrata and heirloom tomato salad while we waited for our steak entrees. Sarah, our server, helped twist my arm a bit to try their Tomahawk Wagyu Beef steak and they tossed a crab cake on top! We were just amazed at how flavorful and tender these steaks were. No words! Just ...eating! And to top it all off, we were treated to their famous Lemon Cake that has been made by the same lady for YEARS! It was perfectly dense and moist with the best lemon cream frosting. We couldn't have asked for more. The best service, best food and just .... the best night out!
Olive and Finch - Cherry Creek North
3390 E 1st Ave, Denver, CO 80206
One of my best friends and most favorite humans is always going 24/7, just like me. She is the Director of Events for a company that owns a few of the radio stations out here so she is always planning and running! We don't always have time to hang out but when I asked her if she was free on Wednesday night for dinner, she was thrilled because we could actually chill out together for a few hours!! I picked Sarah up at her office and we followed the friendly blue dot on my Google Maps app to this new location for Olive and Finch! I haven't been in this area for SO long and there are some new and awesome additions to Cherry Creek North!
We were greeted by Chris, the "Flock Leader" (get is... finch...bird...flock... haha! It made us giggle), and we took a seat at the small bar side countertop that overlooks the backside of the bakery case and bar area. Chris introduced us to Heidi and Lauren behind the bar and we received drinks right away. I ordered one of their house made Strawberry Basil sodas (YUM!!) and Sarah tried their Cool as a Cucumber cocktail. The menu has an awesome variety of sandwiches, flat breads, entrees and more. That is the main difference between this location and the original one on 17th... This one serves "dinner" and has some awesome Flatbreads and Entrees to choose from. We ordered the Fetsetter sandwich (imagine a Lox Bagel with all the bells and whistles on fresh Rye bread instead of a bagel.... He-l-l Yeah!) and the Soprano Flatbread. Sarah chose their pasta-of-the-day with salmon and I ordered their Steak plate! (I love steak..steak steak steak). I LOVED the Steak plate! It had this incredible corn and green chili succotash with the most incredible flavor. Once we were done with our meals, Chris came to check on us and showed me their dessert/pastry case. It looked like heaven. If heaven is covered in Peanut Butter frosting and filled with chocolate... then that's where I went! I tried their Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake and Sarah chose their Double Chocolate Cake. We also decided to sample the Opera Torte but it was so good, there was no sampling because we ate every last crumble of that torte! The cakes were equally delicious but this Opera Torte was something special.
Olive and Finch also has an amazing breakfast/brunch menu and I came home to Nick and raved about how incredible it was. We will absolutely make it down there for brunch!! And the best part, they don't have a hour long wait like some other popular brunch spots have!! Stop by here after work or run down for brunch because you will not be sorry!!!
Del Frisco's Grille - Cherry Creek
100 St Paul St Suite 140, Denver, CO 80206
So, I mentioned that my BFFFFFF (Becca) just moved back here after being gone for 14 years right? We had seen each other every now and then on quick trips and facetimed and talked alll the time, but it's not the same as spending quality time together. So, to say that I was EXCITED to go pick her up and take her with me to dinner... well, that would be an understatement! As soon as I got off work, I headed over to where she is staying (with some other long time mutual friends) and got to squishy her face and say hi to the others (Todd & Chad... Heeeyyyy!). We had to peel ourselves away from the reminiscing and story sharing to make it to Cherry Creek for the last, but not least, dinner of the week. I was SO grateful that they offer complimentary Valet Parking because I hate having to circle the blocks of Denver to try to fight for a parking spot. Phew. When we were walking in, they had some great disco-friendly music playing outside that we were already digging! Inside, off to the right were some gorgeous chandeliers and a fun looking bar area. We were taken to the dining room off to the left and got comfy in a booth. Gavin, the manager, chatted with us for a few before our server Patrick came by. I asked them to make me some fun mock-tail concoction (for those of you that don't know... I am a non-drinker, so I like to try fun drinks that aren't your typical soda/tea/water variety) with Pineapple! They succeeded! I didn't even ask what it was but it was amazing. Patrick gave us some fun suggestions of popular items to try from the menu. This was my first time visit so I was a total rookie. The menu was fun and had a great variety of items to choose from with a more standard "restaurant" feel (as opposed to the Del Frisco's steakhouse standard). We ordered the AhiTuna Tacos, the Lollipop Chicken Wings and Artichoke Beignets to start. Oh. My. These were the BEST suggestions and we LOVED them. The Ahi Tuna Tacos are seriously one of the best things I have ever had eeveerrrrrr. That is something I am going to crave on the regular! For our Entrees, we chose to try their Prime Beef Short Rib Stroganoff and the Wagyu Beed Strip Steak that they're featuring for Valentine's Day. The strip steak was perfectly cooked and topped with a mound of truffle butter that made the already perfect steak just that much more decadent. Oh, and that Stroganoff... Becca and I almost had a fork-sword-fight over the last bite. SO good.
For dessert, they were advertising their Coconut Cream Pie on a small flyer right when you walk in, so of course, my mind was already set. This location also has that famous Lemon Cake that the Double Eagle Steak House has, so you can enjoy that here as well!
They also have an amazing roof top patio that will be incredible to visit in the warmer months.
The food was incredible, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the service was the cherry on top of the cake! I can't wait to go back and I definitely need to take my Mom because she will LOVE those Ahi Tacos!
I had so much fun visiting these restaurants and spending some much needed quality time with some of the people that I LOVE! If you have any questions, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or simply contact the restaurant to make a reservation! Let me know what your favorite dish is that you try!
xoxo - Leah

First Date or Group Night Out
In a new relationship? We get that those first few dates can be awkward. Head to Punch Bowl Social (both S. Broadway and Stapleton locations http://www.punchbowlsocial.com) and start with a round of Giant Jenga or Skee-Ball for a little friendly competition. If you’ve been together a while, then maybe it’s time you visit the very Instagrammable “I Love You” wall — and let your subsequent social media post speak for you. More of a vocal type? Grab your partner or a group of friends and sing your hearts out to some Beyoncé or Bright Eyes in one of the private karaoke rooms. And whether you’re single, with a date, or in a group, you’ve got to try the seasonal punch, Shot Through the Heart (Old Forester Bourbon, strawberry cinnamon shrub and Teakoe pear tea). Pair it with savory/sweet Chicken 'N' Waffles or snack-able Lil' Fried Bologna & Cheese Sandwiches and you’ve got the makings of a fun and memorable evening.

Enjoy your love whether it is singularly, in a group or with your lover!
January has come and gone! I can't believe that it is already February! Doesn't it seem like 2017 flew by in no time?! I remember when I was a kid, people would tell me that the older you get...the faster time goes by. Now I know what they mean! I want to look back on the days and months and have something to show for this time that is going by with the blink of an eye!
So, with that said... What do you have in store for 2018? Did you make a resolution? New Goals? New Career or Job?
I have 2 of those 3 things (I am not really a resolution person...) on my plate! Lots of new goals and some of them are already in the works!
I started a new job at the beginning of the year. If you remember, last summer... I left my job of 5+ years with Renovation Ready/Banc of California when they shut down the Denver division that I worked in. I took a needed "summer break" and waited until I found the right fit before going back to the standard day j-o-b!
I am now the Director of Client relations for the Keller Williams Alliance Team in the Denver Southeast office. I get to help with some productivity coaching and training, social media and event management as well as assist the team of realtors with their transactions and making sure things go smoothly. Not to mention that the gal who hired me is a friend and someone I worked with almost 10 years ago. I am loving it so far! Great office with a fun culture and positive energy! Definitely a needed change from the last office I worked in.
As far as goals... I have big things on deck for Denver Housewives in the City this year!
Our January event was at the Lodo's Highlands Ranch location where we took over the rooftop patio and had a blast! We had some AMAZING Swag Bags from Janesa Lockhart with Matilda Jane. They sponsored the Swag Bags with the most incredible totes that are straight from the corporate offices, not able to be purchased so if you scored one, you are a lucky ducky!
Check out Janesa's website here and find some SERIOUSLY cute clothes for you and your little girl - Janesa Lockhart- Matilda Jane
February, we are having out Ladies Night Out event at Lone Tree Brewing on Park Meadows Drive - February 28th from 5-8:30! RSVP HERE for that event.
March... well, March is my Bday Month so I am going to try to make this a big deal. We are going to be partying at the Breckenridge Brewery Farmhouse on Santa Fe. Stay tuned to the Facebook page for those details, cause it's going to be FUN!
Leave a comment with what you want to see happen in 2018! Goals, resolutions, manifestations, plans and parties!
Hi There! I am Leah Ryan, Lead Publisher and Social Media + Event Coordinator for Housewives in the City here in Denver, Colorado! I have lived in Colorado my entire life, born and raised. My family has some deep Colorado roots and I am fascinated with anything related to Colorado History!

Please come introduce yourself to me if you see me out and about and especially at one of our monthly Ladies Night Out events! XOXO - Leah
