The end of August is my favorite! The Farmers Market is FULL of the best fruits and veggies. Especially the sweet corn. This is one of my most favorite recipes to make this time of year. It is so fresh, sweet and crisp. I LOVE it.

I think I went to my first networking group in 2012. I was very guarded, unsure of myself and not really ready to put myself out there. After a few minutes of looking like a deer in headlights, one of the other girls came up to me and introduced herself and brought me to a group of ladies standing around chatting. That's all it took and I was in. I helped build a very large networking platform (of this group I first attended) and in 2016, started the Denver Chapter of Housewives in the City.
Over the years, I have built up a powerhouse of networkers that were also like I was at the beginning! Since then, I have had so many people ask me of they can come to my networking meet ups even if they don't own their own business. My answer is ALWAYS a YES! What better way to become connected to your community than to meet the local business owners face to face and support their businesses.
Now, you will know someone to refer out the next time someone asks for a connection!
Today is National Nonprofit Day. Everyday, a volunteer reads to school children; patients receives their medication; lawyers provides legal services for low-income individuals; a first-time homebuyer is moving into their own home. National NonProfit Day reminds us that each of these scenarios are possible because of the work performed by capable men, women and organizations.Through nonprofits, people and organizations are able to selflessly provide awareness, research, and aid to people who need it most.
A nonprofit that is close to my heart is one that I help run. I am on the board of directors for an organization known as the Parker Secret Closet. We provide free formal wear to teens that may not be able to afford to spend some insane amount of money on a school dance. We believe in reusing and recycling so you and your family can spend that money on something else! Visit our website here: www.parkersecretcloset.org
There are so many amazing nonprofits out there... tell me about your favorite one!
So, I have a little secret. For the past couple years... I have been indulging in the best cookie DOUGH in the world. My friend Melissa started a safe to eat, raw cookie dough biz and any chance I had to get my hands on it... I would! It tastes like your grandma just made a batch and is letting you lick the beaters! Well, Melissa's business (Dough Dreamery) took off and she started selling little pints in some local stores and would deliver or bring to our networking groups!
Well... you guys... SHE JUST OPENED A STORE FRONT!! In Parker, CO on East Mainstreet she now has her very own brick and mortar location where you can go make your cookie dough dreams come true. Not only can you eat the dough raw... but you can bake it too! I love the dough and Nick likes baked cookies, so it is the best of both worlds! There are multiple flavors like original chocolate chip, sugar cookie, cake batter and cookies & creme, not to mention she has a new "flavor of the month" and this month is a Unicorn cookie dough that tastes like sugar cookies with a hint of almond and appropriate unicorn sprinkles! SO much fun!
Go check her store out here: 19751 E. Mainstreet Parker, Colorado
