We attended the Great Gatsby Spotlight Ball on June 2nd, and it was the best event yet held by Arthur Murray Dance Centers of Hawai'i. There was a great photo op with a Vintage Classic Limo, an amazing sit down dinner, and of course lots of dancing! I wonder what crazy theme they are going to come up with next year?!?
We had so much fun at Doraku Kaka'ako for our monthly Ladies' Night Out! The drinks were amazing and the food of course was DELICIOUS! But you know the best part is always getting the chance to connect with the amazing women in our community. For a lot you, it was your first time coming to one of our events and we are very glad that you enjoyed yourself and are planning to attend the next one. Can't wait to see you there! Enjoy these pics from the night...the genuine smiles and laughter you see, tell the whole story. Thank you to Elise Sanchez for the amazing photos.
It's so important to take the time to celebrate your accomplishments. Big victories, little victories, things you've just started working on, or things you've been working on for YEARS, they should all be celebrated! So grab a glass of wine or a cocktail and "cheers" to what you've done.
For our dance studio it was definitely Time to celebrate! I knew I wanted to reward our staff for all of our studio's accomplishments in 2017. We had a record year and it was finally time to take a tiny break and look back at how hard we all worked.
We started the night at Breakout Waikiki for some great staff bonding. If you've never been, you get locked in a room with clues and you have to figure your way out. It was a BLAST and we will definitely be doing it again. We didn't make it out within the allotted time, but we were really really close! Maybe I shouldn't have chosen the room with a 13% success rate... oh well!
After that, we walked over to Eating House 1849 at the International MarketPlace for an amazing "farm to table" experience. The food was delicious, the drinks were delicious, the company was extraordinary, and the staff were appreciative. Every year we do a Secret Santa too, and that's always fun to try and guess who gave what. It's also very telling of how well we know each other.
2018...we are coming for YOU!
We are super excited to bring to our readers our 2017 #ShopLocal Holiday Guide. We kept it small this year because we wanted to make sure we did it right for all of you! We put a strong focus on "unique gift ideas" and hope that you take advantage of some of the specials being offered. There is a downloadable PDF version as well! Enjoy your shopping!
We all had a blast at Chef Chai's for our Ladies' Night out! The venue was perfect for Ladies' to shop, mingle, and most importantly connect and network with each other. And the food, OH MY THE FOOD! It all looked delicious, smelled delicious, and tasted DELICIOUS! We will definitely be bringing our Ladies back again some time next year. See the full photo album HERE!
Join us at our upcoming Honolulu Housewives Holiday Bash!
I love the fact that my daughter's Elementary School brings in Kona Ice / Shave Ice the last Wednesday of every month. I mean...how cool is that?!? (see what I did there ;) Ha!) I feel like only in Hawai'i do we get such a luxury, especially in the Fall months.
The kids absolutely love it, and of course it's an epically long line, but I would definitely say it was worth it. To see that huge "brain freeze" smile on her face, and then have to wash out all the red from her clothes...we'll still do it again next month. I know there's an awesome story here about how it can teach them about money and responsibility and saving...but right now, it's just about the smile.
As we are gearing up for our Re-Launch of Honolulu Housewives, I wanted to introduce you all to the first batch of Featured Businesses we will have at the event. You can see direct links to their sites on our Event Page.
We can't wait for everyone to mingle, shop, eat, drink, chat, and network at Dave and Busters Oct. 17th. We will have from 5:30-9pm to fit it all in, so make sure you give yourself enough time to do it! And don't forget, Dave & Busters is making us a signature drink for the night...yummy!
My husband and I were finally able to go out on a date night. You may think we are lame for just doing "Dinner & a Movie" but we lead pretty active lives and it's nice for us to just sit and be able to talk to each other. You know, without our little minions (who we LOOOOOVE dearly) interrupting every 2 minutes, or the dog, or work, or...
He finds a restaurant we haven't been to that is close to the movie theater, and we meet there. It's new to us, but we had experienced their sister restaurant last year with friends. It was perfect for the kind of evening we were looking for and their sign in the back was exactly how we were feeling. Of course "It's all Good" when I have my husband to myself, a glass of wine, and some delicious food. Funny enough, the couple who was dining next to us, had ordered the exact same appetizer and entrees, and then went to the same theater! So yes, we did the typical date night for couples, it was clear...but when the "typical" is actually out of your personal "norm" it feels quite unique.
Thanks Piggy Smalls for making it a great, much needed, date night!
Bienvenidos, Welina, & Welcome to the new and improved Honolulu Housewives! This is a place for us to connect with our past, fully enjoy our present, and manifest our future on these beautiful islands. I, like most of you, am a "transplant" to Oahu. My husband and I (boyfriend at the time) moved to Oahu at the beginning of 2010 with 2 suitcases and a dog. We left behind family, great stable and promising careers, and ventured onto the island to pursue MY dreams of owning a dance studio.
One marriage, 2 beautiful kids, and a few successful businesses later, we wouldn't change anything. Well, at least I wouldn't...but every year during Football Season I'm pretty sure he'd rather be back in Seattle using his season tickets to cheer on the Seahawks with his Dad, painting his face and his chest (insert eye roll here), and heckling the opposing team. But that's why I LOVE him...and his sports addiction is a whole story in itself...
The Hawaiian Islands are a very transient place, and my goal is to create a way for women to connect with other women right away on this beautiful island. One of my biggest draws to Hawai'i was that it reminded me a lot of where I was born and raised, Panama. This tiny island chain made me feel at home, just like my tiny little country, and through Honolulu Housewives I want to create a fun atmosphere for women to get to know other women on the island, and also feel at home while they are here.
I sincerely can't wait to meet you at one of our Ladies Night Out events!
Aloha Ladies of Oahu!
