Meet Rebecca Martin! She's an Independent Consultant for Rodan+Fields and is the perfect example of living proof of her product!
Question: Do you have a website?
Yes, https://becmartin.myrandf.com (to shop)
https://www.becmartin.myrandf.biz (to learn about business)
Q: What is your product/service? Who is your target audience?
A: Premium Skincare - anybody looking to boost their confidence by obtaining the best skin of their life. I’m also building a team of smart, savvy and fun female entrepreneurs who are looking to change their lives and the lives of others.
Q: What sets your product/service apart from your competitors?
A: Rodan + Fields is the #1 selling skincare brand in the US (for past three years) and is founded by world-renowned dermatologists. Clinically tested, our products are guaranteed to deliver results, or your money back.
Q: How long have you been in business? Where are you located?
A: 1 ½ years in business and I live in Sneads Ferry with my husband (retired from the USMC), two children and 2 dogs.
Q: Is there anything you would like potential customers and readers of our blog to know about you and your business?
A: I am extremely passionate about helping others - either with their skincare concerns or with getting them started towards building their own business with R+F. I believe this is a tremendous opportunity for young women (especially military spouses as they are able to work and grow this business from anywhere the military may take them!) who are looking for something beyond the traditional 9-5 job. The flexibility is perfect for busy women who are looking for a part-time job to earn extra income or those like myself who are doing this full-time. The friendships I’ve formed since joining this company are my very favorite part of what I do!
Q: Tell us about your business and how you became the successful business woman you are today.
A: I attribute a lot of my success to the varied jobs I held throughout my husband’s military career. Military spouses who choose to work are faced with a unique set of challenges since they typically move so frequently that it becomes next to impossible to build any sort of career with upward mobility. My resume is a hodgepodge of jobs, none of them related, with a large gap of time when my children were young and I stayed at home with them. The really cool thing is that when I reflect back on that resume and each job I held over the years, I acquired different skills at each and every one of them that I am now able to utilize as I’m in business for myself. I didn’t always love the jobs, but each has proven invaluable when I look at the big picture.
Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: happy, optimistic, joyful
Q: What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in Jacksonville?
A: 1. I love going to the movies with friends and family and enjoy both theaters equally. 2. Tony’s Pizza at the Jacksonville Mall has ALWAYS been a favorite! I love picking it up and bringing home for dinner when I’m running errands in Jacksonville. 3. Any time I get my hair done at Koi Salon, it’s a good day!
Q: What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
A: Since I’ve never been happier than I am now that I am building my own business, I’m going to have to say that finding the courage to walk away from my corporate job in pursuit of something that feeds my soul is what I consider my greatest accomplishment so far. Understandably, many aren’t in a position financially to walk away from their 9-5 job, so I’d like to encourage them to start working on that thing…..be it a side hustle, a hobby, a charity, whatever it might be that feeds their soul and makes them happy. Who knows, it might eventually turn into something that they are able to pursue full-time in the future.
Q: What are your professional goals for the next six month?.
A: I want to increase the size of my team by at least 12 new teammates and mentor them to get a fast start in their businesses. It’s so much easier to stay motivated when you achieve some initial success. I’m experienced, passionate, and can’t wait to help others who are ready to rock their own businesses.
Q: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
A: Can I be a backup singer for Kenny Chesney, pretty please??
Q: Do you have any advice for women who'd like to start their own company?
A: Find a mentor, schedule time with them, learn from them, don’t feel you have to recreate the wheel. If you find somebody successful at what you are attempting to do, learn as much from them as you possibly can. Don’t be discouraged when you hear the word, “no”. Read books, listen to podcasts, invest in developing yourself.
Happy, optimistic, and joyful are spot on for a description of Rebecca! She is such a go-getter and I am so glad she's joined us as a regular vendor. Thank you Rebecca for your time!
Until next time!
Hi friends! My name is Abby and I am a SeneGence Independent Distributor!
You may have heard of LipSense - well SeneGence is the company that founded LipSense, but we are SO much more than lips! We have a full line of makeup products (think tinted moisturizer and foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, eye liner, and everything in between!) plus an entire line of skincare and anti-aging products, haircare, and even perfume.
SeneGence has not only improved, but completely CHANGED, my life.
That’s because the products actually WORK. They do what they say they are going to do. They are long-lasting, smudge-proof, waterproof, budge-proof, and honestly life-proof. I can rest assured knowing that the fabulous face of makeup I put on at 6 AM is going to look just as good all day until I take it off at 9 PM. The products have improved my skin and hair so much in such a short amount of time. I feel more confident in my own, naked skin and bare face than I ever have in my entire life. I love being able to look gorgeous wearing a full face of makeup, but also feel beautiful not wearing a stitch of anything on my face. I have never found another brand that has made me feel this way.
Not to mention how this BUSINESS has changed my life! Before SeneGence, I worked full-time as a teacher in a job that I was not passionate about. I was working for a paycheck, wishing for the day I could quit, hoping one day I could be a stay-at-home mom without having to stress about our finances. Well, thanks to SeneGence, I am! I have resigned from teaching and I am able to work my business full time, from the comfort of my own home, on my own terms, deciding my own hours, making as much money as I want. SeneGence has been such a blessing in my life, for myself, for self-confidence, and for my family.
Through this business, I have decided to get outside of my comfort zone and do things I wouldn’t have normally done - like sign up for a vendor event! I found Housewives in the City and contacted Laurie right away. I had never done an event before, and I was incredibly nervous, but she made me feel so welcome from our first conversation! My first event with HITC was absolutely amazing! I had so much fun meeting and interacting with women I might have never met if it weren't for these events. I am so grateful I found HITC and I plan on being at every Eastern NC event I possibly can! They have set the standards high, so I might never be able to do an event with any other company again. ;)
Thank you Housewives in the City, Laurie, and Brittany, for hosting such incredible events! I am so glad I get to be a part of this community!

We've all been there, being crazy excited to attend a themed party/social but having no idea on what to wear to fit the theme. This was my exact dilemma when we decided on the Denim & Diamonds Ladies Night Out Soiree theme. Somehow I managed to leave my BeDazzler back in the 90's, what a surprise right? So I turned to my most trusted app when it comes to outfit ideas, Pinterest! Below are some of my favorite options to find some Denim & Diamond inspo!
No matter which outfit you choose to gain some inspiration from, you're bound to rock the look. Remember to have fun with it! See you Thursday - click HERE to check out the event page!
See you Wednesday! - Brittany
Have you planned what you’re doing for Mother’s Day yet? As a restaurant lover of Eastern NC, my favorite Mother’s Day go-to is brunch. Surrounding everyone’s favorite lady with friends and family, what greater gift can you give?
This year, I’ve actually opted out of making reservations for Mother’s Day brunch and am planning to treat her to a family brunch at home with the help of Hello Fresh. Hello Fresh is offering a first ever Mother’s Day Box (brunch and/or dinner!) Brunch includes 3 entree recipes and a bonus drink, while dinner includes a special 3 course meal. At $18.99 for 4 servings, I’d say this is a steal. No worries, I’m already stocked on the champagne and OJ. Get yours here!
Ladies, thank you so much for everyone who came out and even a bigger thank you to those who participated and rocked their animal print (mostly everyone!) I think it's safe to say we all had a great time at the Angry Ginger Irish Pub last Thursday! The weather could not have been more perfect for the pavilion and Kayla, our server, killed it all night! We had over 65 ladies come out and enjoy networking, shopping, sipping and dining with us. Of course, Girls Night Out wouldn't be half as awesome if it wasn't for our amazing vendors! Links to each vendor are in their logo below!
Big congrats to all the ladies who won a giveaway! Take a look below at these beautiful photos from Angela Glinsky Photography and head over to our Facebook to tag yourself in them!
All hail the Wild About Girls Night Out animal print theme social at the Angry Ginger Pavilion. We've all been there, planning to attend a themed party or social without having to break the bank OR not having an idea on what to wear! (No worries, I actually had the same problem and it's an event I'm helping host!) So, like any true millennial, I turned to my Pinterest boards for some inspo and found exactly what I was looking for! Below are some of my fav looks to throw together for Girls Night Out this week!
Whatever you decide to wear, rock it! I'm so excited to see everyone and all the prints this Thursday!
Talk soon! -Brittany
Some of you may know (I did not until this year) that April is National Stress Awareness Month, and has been since 1992! The purpose is still spread public awareness of both the causes and cures for our modern stress epidemic. Yes, epidemic. After a little research while stress had hit an all time peak for me, I found some pretty interesting findings from Stress Management Society. “According to the Mental Health Foundation, 74% of UK adults have felt so stressed at some point over the last year they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.” Yes, I know we aren’t in the UK, but imagine how similar these studies are to US adults. Stress is probably one of the greatest public health challenges of our time and is not only a significant factor linked to mental health issues such as depression and anxiety (duh) but is also linked to physical health issues like heart disease and insomnia.
So I turned to one of my favorite blogs/podcasts (The Confused Millennial by Rachel Ritlop) for some help. Lo and behold, I found exactly what I was looking for with a blog titled “10 Quick & Easy Ways To Cut Stress From Your Life ASAP” yes please! But instead of listing all 10 (I will leave the link to the full blog here,) here are the 5 things I decided to turn to to get out of my own little depressed funk I found myself in that was most definitely brought on by stress.
1. Run Your Fingers Through Your Hair
“The scalp has so many nerve endings and I’m going to assume most of us forget about on a daily basis. While it can be comfortable to throw your hair up in a messy bun or pony tail and forgetting about your scalp all day, try mixing things up this month! Take a minute or two each hour to get in there and really massage. If you can, close your eyes, breath deeply, and notice how you feel afterwards. It’s a great way to bring fresh energy into the cranium and is often an area we neglect!”
2. Ask For Help
“Sometimes we can’t do all the things by ourselves – as much as we’d like to. The truth is, people need people. We need community and support in order to reach our fullest potentials and reduce stress...Asking for help is a healthy habit and a sign of strength.”
Oxytocin! You never realize how important human touch is until you need it, like actually need it. “Oxytocin is a feel-good chemical in the brain that’s been known to strengthen positive traits like trust and generosity and reduce things like anxiety and depression.”
4. Incorporate Nature as Much as Possible
I know for me, being outside even just for a little bit tends to reset my mind. Get out there and take a walk, get on a boat, go for a bike ride. “If you can’t get outside every day consider ditching the fluorescent lights in your office and opt for natural light and crack a window! Another way of bringing nature is to spring for some house plants to re-oxygenate your space.”
5. Dance It Out
Dancing is the go to in my house when me or my one of my friends are feeling down or are overwhelmed by something out of our control. Pump some loud music and just get moving, you have no choice but to feel happy once you get into it. Kick the sitting habit!
I hope these tips help you like they did me. And maybe I encouraged you to take a look at The Confused Millennial blog!
Until next time -Brittany
