All Hallows Eve returns to Naperville for 13-acres of fright, touts more than 20 haunt experiences
All Hallows Eve returns to Naper Settlement for its eighteenth year on October 18 and 19, promising thrills, chills, and eerie entertainment. This annual Halloween event transforms the museum’s 13-acre grounds into a spooky, haunted village that blends history and horror. Guests will explore more than 20 different haunt experiences, from frightful reenactments of Vlad the Impaler and Sweeney Todd to face painting, fire spinners, and illusionists. Each experience has a fright factor rating from one to three skulls, allowing guests to customize their experience throughout the evening.
New additions include:
Each year, Naper Settlement partners with local organizations to bring this event to life, with more than 200 volunteers from school groups and arts organizations participating as scare actors.
“All Hallows Eve is Naperville’s annual celebration of the occult, where instead of one haunted house, guests are frightened by over a dozen bone-chilling haunts and numerous hair-raising performances,” said Adison Glick, special events team leader.
All Hallows Eve runs from 6:30-10 p.m. each night and is not recommended for children under 8 years old. Tickets are $20 per guest; Members and children under 4 are free. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.NaperSettlement.org/AllHallowsEve.

Naperville Housewives in the City is part of a nationwide social media company called Housewives in the City (HITC); we are dedicated to bringing communities together, specifically businesses and women (though we are open to all). With our monthly community “socials” we also want to take the time to give back to our community by spotlighting a local charity. We are proud to announce that October’s partnered charity is GiGi’s Playhouse.
GiGi’s Playhouse is a Down syndrome achievement center that offers FREE educational and therapeutic programs to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. We are 99% run by volunteers and 100% supported by donations. Our mission is to change the way the world sees Down syndrome and to create global acceptance for all.
A volunteer for GiGi’s Playhouse will be present at our event to educate about their cause and to collect items donated. How you can help GiGi’s Playhouse at our event:
The items on our Amazon wish list will benefit our participants by allowing them to work on their fine and gross motor skills while also having fun! The office supplies are for our literacy program- we offer FREE literacy tutoring and we use the materials to create books for our students.
Items can be purchased on Amazon, or gift card, or physical donations toward an item would be greatly appreciated!
If anyone would like to opt toward giving an in-kind gift to be used as a silent auction item at our gala on Saturday, February 29th they are also welcome to do so!
Our wish list includes:
Thank you for supporting GiGi’s Playhouse Fox Valley and we appreciate any and all donations to help our participants be their BEST OF ALL!

I know I know, I am probably driving you mad with my London obsession the last few weeks! What can I say, true love is real and I left my heart in London! Here's a little nugget from our last trip to London, April 2015:
This #TravelTuesday we are celebrating our upcoming trip to one of my favorite places, London!
Here’s a little secret about me: I had the privilege to live in London for 6 months in 2008 (during the crash, the pound was 2:1...INSANE). I absolutely loved living in London! I was on a 6-month tourist Visa while my boyfriend (at the time) was on a 5-year work Visa; the lucky guy was moved to the UK back when Booz Allen Hamilton split and the commercial sector became Booz & Co. (all my DC peeps know what I am talking about). In short this meant I would spend a lot of time by myself in a new country but long term it meant London was my oyster; I was able to explore alone without anyone else’s opinion to worry about during the day. I fell in love with the deep bounty of culture that the city has to offer; it is like the NYC of Western Europe after all. Influences from all over the globe coupled with a history dating back thousands of years come together to make quite the experience.
Unfortunately 6 months was the max I was able to stay in the UK on a tourist visa and I eventually had to return home to the States. The duration of my stay in London I had held onto hope that somehow I would be able to stay. I’d truly grown to love the city of London, all it had to offer and had only just begun to navigate it’s secrets.
Thankfully air travel has become more and more affordable and accessible; a mere 7h 50min flight away from Chicago.
My now husband and I are avid Marriott customers, loyal Bonvoy Ambassadors and Marriott Vacation Club owners. We have been hoarding our points for years dreaming of what we may cash them in for. Recently we agreed to transfer our Bonvoy points to United (a Bonvoy partner) to book flights to London for this coming October. This will be my third time visiting the UK since I Left in 2009 and the second trip with my Husband.
We have spent weeks looking at point savers, which we all know can be a rabbit chase, and finally found some awesome tickets! We chose to fly Lufthansa (a United partner) business class to Amsterdam and then fly from there to London. We ended up spending 140k points per ticket (RT), which isn’t bad at all for business class! We compared videos for Austrian Air, Lufthansa and United Business class, as those were our options for flights on the desired dates. While Austrian Air looks pretty amazing we are pretty confident that Lufthansa will not disappoint.
I look forward to sharing our journey with you, follow it all on our Instagram page!

Travel Tuesday always reminds me of my past adventures and sparks new hope for future ones. On this Travel Tuesday I want to share a little slice of heaven with you, our trip to Jamaica 2019. Enjoy!
Last year we had the pleasure of vacationing in Montego Bay, Jamaica for our good friend’s wedding. My husband has been to the island six times before this trip and I always heckled him for going to the same place over and over…. Until I went myself. I can see why he keeps coming back! We LOVED Jamaica!
THE DIGS: HYATT ZILARA ROSE HALL, MOBAY
We stayed at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Montego Bay and it did not disappoint! For starters, when thinking of the word vacation I immediately think relax. Well it is not very relaxing when you have layovers and long drives to your final destination. That is part of why this location was such a win for us. We flew United Airlines nonstop to MOBAY airport and then had only an 11 minute ride to the hotel (that included 3 stops along the way!). Efficient AND convenient!
When we arrived at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall we were immediately greeted with champagne and promptly shown to our room; THAT is what I call relaxing!
Our room was nothing short of superb! Mind you, we did not request a certain room or pay extra for anything bigger or special and ended up with stellar views from our own, private balcony. Heaven is real!
All of the staff was beyond friendly, always smiling and genuinely happy; their joy was infectious! The food was 4-star and the Jamaican Hurricanes….well, let’s just say that you have to try them for yourselves… #Delish!

My friend Denise came out to visit our new apartment and check out Napervilleand we had a BLAST!!
We spent the afternoon walking around downtown Naperville, exploring the alley art, the river walk, Dick Tracy and of course the quarry paddle boats! Did you know that you can ride on the paddle boats with up to 4 people for only $10?! They are open until September 29th but make sure to check their website for dates and hours.
Hi! My name is Ally and I am so excited to launch the Naperville chapter of Housewives in the City! We are a national brand connecting women and businesses across the country! You may have seen me before as the director of Chicago Housewives, which I launched in September of 2016. We grew the Chicago chapter to over 5,000 followers and had numerous events across the Chicagoland area before passing the torch to Ashley, the new Director of Chicago Housewives.
I am 35, Michigan native. I have lived in 6 states, 3 countries and am never afraid to try something new! I am married, have 4 step kids, a fur-baby and hopefully one day a biological child of my own. This summer my husband and I decided to move to Naperville to be closer to his office (he was commuting over 100 miles a day!) and are looking forward to all the future has in store.
I am so excited to represent the Naperville area and to help bring this community of women and businesses together!
