We recently visited Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center for the ultimate staycation! As a Nashville native, some of my favorite memories are from visiting Opryland with my parents and siblings. So I wanted to make sure to create those special memories with my boys and we have been going a couple times a year since Braden was around a year old. My boys absolutely love it there and never want to leave once we arrive.
After so much uncertainty this year and a couple cancelled trips we decided that Gaylord Opryland would be the perfect place for a staycation before the boys went back to school. One of the questions that I have been asked several times is about how the resort is handling COVID-19 and the practives that they have in place. I was very impressed with the way that the resort is handling things and felt very comfortable during our entire stay. Since Gaylord Opryland opened back up in late June, they have implemented their "Commitment to Clean" practices which you can find out more info on here.
Gaylord Opryland is one of the 30 largest hotels in the world. The resort features 9 acres of indoor gardens, cascading waterfalls and an indoor river. Plus, it has over 2800 guest rooms. There is so much to do around the resort, so I wanted to highlight a few of my favorite things.
SoundWaves Nashville is Gaylord Oprylands new indoor/outdoor luxury water attraction. It features 4 acres of water fun including: multiple water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river and a fast river, kids areas, an adults only section, and so much more. There truely is so much for everyone to enjoy here!
We had a blast and enjoyed Soundwaves all three days of our stay. The boys could not get enough and were so excited to be there. Preston was obsessed with going down the slides as many times as he possibly could. While Braden could not get enough of the wave pool with the 37 ft big screen tv that towered over it.
One thing to remember when planning your trip to SoundWaves is that you can arrive early on your check in date to take advantage of the water park. The hotel staff will hold onto you luggage in the lobby for you while you enjoy some time in the water and will call when you room is ready. Another thing to remember is that your SoundWaves writstband is valid until noon on check out date, which gives you a little extra time to enjoy the amazing water attraction that Gaylord Opryland has to offer.
Cabanas are great for so many reasons while visiting SoundWaves. Not only do they give you a little extra privacy while there but they make a great meeting place for everyone. Cabanas are available inside and outside at SoundWaves so you can choose which area is the best of you and your family. Each cabana comes stocked with clean towels, a refrigerator with some water and soda, and a TV. You are also able to order food and beverages from the privacy of your cabana. Plus, if you are anything like us then a cabana makes the perfect place for your little ones to nap halfway through the day.
SoundWaves is the perfect place to celebrate and provides such a fun experience for all of your guests. There are three party rooms available to reserve when hosting a party at SoundWaves. Prices start at around $42 per purchase and include a handful of parking passes, private party room access, all day access wristbands to SoundWaves, pizza, and so much more. For more information on reserving a party room click here.
This is one of our favorite things to do when visiting the resort. The Delta Riverboat takes you around the resort's 4.5 acre Delta Atrium. Not only do you get to enjoy the amazing view, but you are able to learn fun facts about the resort.
Another great thing to do while visiting Gaylord Opryland Resort is to enjoy the water show. We typically grab some pizza at Paisano's Pizzaria & Vino in and watch the water show. The way the water moves to the music and lights up is truely spectacular.
Self Care is really important so take some time for yourself on your next visit and visit Relache Spa. They have so many great services to offer! I would highly recommend a hydrafacial or aromatherapy massage.
From July 27th through August 3rd you can experience SUMMERFEST at Gaylord Opryland Resort. This is a summer celebration that provides you with all sorts of summer fun and activities during your stay. There are tons of great activities to check out during you stay. For more information on these, click here.

JOURNEY THROUGH GAYLORD OPRYLAND SCAVENGER HUNT
The nice ladies on the Delta Riverboat gave us a Scavenger Hunt book (which can also be found at the Cascades front desk) and the boys were ready to explore and find all the hidden treasures around the property. This is a great activity to do with the kids. We love how they are color coated based on what section of the resort you can find each thing in.

As a mom it is very important to find something that is comforting for your little one, so I was so excited to try Philips Avent Soothie Snuggle with Hudson. I love that he can have a soothie and snuggle friend all in one and that it can provide such a big comfort to him.
One of my favorite things about this product is how easy it is to clean. You just detach the soothie from his elephant and you are able to sterilize and clean both parts without any hiccups (see Easy Steps for Cleaning below). I wish they had something this easy when the other boys were smaller, I was always worried that I wasn’t able to clean and sanitize their pacifier and snuggle combos.
Another great feature that the Philips Avent Soothie Snuggle has is that you can change out the soothie when one gets old or your little one needs a bigger size. This is amazing because they don’t have to give up their current snuggle buddy that helps comfort them when it’s time for them to have a new soothie.
If you are looking for something to keep your baby happy or for a great shower gift you will definitely want to check out Philips Avent Soothie Snuggle by heading over to Philips.com.
Easy Steps for Cleaning your Soothie Pacifier
1. To start, detach the Soothie pacifier from the Snuggle
2. Sterilize the Soothie either in a Philips Avent Steam Sterilizer bag or in boiling water for 5 minutes.
3. After sterilizing, allow the Soothie to cool for at least 5 minutes and squeeze any trapped water out of the nipple.
4. Check the product before each use and replace the pacifiers immediately in case of damage or weakness.
5. Philips Avent recommends replacing your baby’s pacifier after four weeks of use.
6. You can wash the plush toy in a mesh laundry bag with your normal laundry cycle. Set it out to air dry.
7. Once you’ve cleaned both parts of the Soothie snuggle you can connect them back together and give the pacifier to your baby.
8. The plush toy is compatible with all Philips Avent Soothies and pacifiers which can be swapped out and replaced with age appropriate soothies/pacifiers as baby ages.
9. Philips Avent Soothies are designed for babies 0-3 months and 3+ month, and other Philips Avent pacifiers are designed for babies 0-6m, 6-18m and 18+ months.
10. Once your child outgrows pacifiers altogether, his or her snuggly friend
can still stick around and conveniently attach to car seats, strollers, or

DOLLYWOOD’S FLOWER & FOOD FESTIVAL BRINGS BRIGHT BLOOMS TO SMOKY MOUNTAINS BEGINNING JUNE 15
Dollywood’s inaugural Flower & Food Festival presented by Covenant Health blooms to life with a vibrant new event that adds another touch of dazzling color to the natural beauty that already surrounds the award-winning theme park.
Originally scheduled for mid-spring, the breathtaking festival now begins when Dollywood reopens to season passholders on June 15. During this spectacular event, guests can explore larger-than-life plant sculptures adorned in half-a-million colorful flower blooms. These colossal displays reach heights up to 14 feet and create breathtaking displays celebrating the spirit of the Smoky Mountains. Floral carpet beds envelope walkways, embellish buildings and fill flowerbeds throughout the park.
Throughout the festival, the park stays open until 9:30 p.m. every night to allow families more time to make memories together. Additionally, each evening concludes with a fireworks show to put an exclamation point on the day.
“I know everyone is tired after being cooped up inside for the last few months, but I think all of us probably appreciate our family and friends even more right now,” Dolly Parton said. “I’m glad we’re able to start welcoming folks back to Dollywood with a brand new festival to help them make fresh memories together. Things may look a little different, but when they see all those beautiful flowers in bloom, I think it will help them take a bit of a break from everything that’s been going on.
“When we had the idea for this festival, I definitely gave them some input because you know how much I love flowers,” she added with a laugh, “but I was just delighted when my creative team told me their idea for the biggest flower display would be my mama sewing the Coat of Many Colors. I was so surprised, and I know she would be so proud they represented her in this way.”
Dollywood’s Flower & Food Festival brings Dolly’s dreams to life with floral displays blooming in a kaleidoscope of colors. In partnership with internationally-acclaimed Mosaicultures flower sculpting team, a multitude of flowers come to life throughout Dollywood as Smoky Mountain turtles, raccoons, frogs and black bears. Dolly’s rich influence through song comes alive thanks to tributes of “I Will Always Love You” with a floral heart umbrella, as well as “Coat of Many Colors” with the marvelous scenic sculpture of her mother Avie Lee sewing the priceless garment.
The festival takes its blooms and brilliance throughout Dollywood, starting with photo opportunities as soon as guests step foot through the turnstiles. Once in the park, guests quickly find themselves under an Umbrella Sky, an awe-inspiring sight which features more than 600 hundred umbrellas dancing above their heads.
Special “Instagram-able” photo locations allow families to capture special memories that will live on long after the festival flowers bloom.
The colorful splendor created by an artful array of flowers and plants is accented by delicious dishes of mouth-watering festival flavors. Dollywood’s team of culinary experts dug deep into the traditions of Southern and Smoky Mountain cuisine to create garden-fresh items sure to delight.
Items on the menu include grilled citrus shrimp over delta peas and rice, gyros, Greek orzo pasta, grilled chili lime skirt steak, chicken stir fry, zucchini fritters, lobster rolls, charcuterie in a cone, and pork sliders with pineapple chutney.
Dessert highlights include chocolate-dipped macaroons, toasted coconut cupcakes, blueberry tarts, and chocolate ganache brownies. Guests looking for a way to cool off have a number of refreshing beverages to enjoy during the festival. The selection includes strawberry guava, blueberry lavender lemonade, blood orange lemonade, and watermelon lime fresca.
After much careful preparation, Dollywood Theme Park and Dollywood’s Splash Country Water Park open June 15 and 16 for season pass guests only. Both parks open to the general public on June 17.
Social distancing guidelines will limit the capacity of the parks on a daily basis. As a result, season passholders will be required to reserve the date and time they wish to visit, and general admission guests will purchase a date-based ticket to ensure all have a safer, socially-distanced experience. Reservations can be made at www.Dollywood.com/reservations and on the Dollywood mobile app where a how-to video will demonstrate the process. Guests should book their reservations early to ensure the date of their choice.
Additional information and a video detailing the safety and operational changes at the park are available for review at www.Dollywood.com/playsafe and on the mobile app.
Gaylord Opryland Hotel & SoundWaves are both set to reopen on Monday, June 25th. The resort will provide new cleaning technology, hospital-grade disinfectants, attendants dedicated to sanitizing frequently throughout the day, new social distancing practices and enhanced cleaning protocols, outlined by Marriott’s “Commitment to Clean” standards.
This is the pefect place to plan a staycation at this summer and somewhere that the whole family will enjoy. I pulled together a list of local discount codes so that you can get a great deal when booking your stay.

This has been one interesting year! As a parent, we are having to make decisions for ourselves and our kids when it comes to getting back out and safety precautions. While everyone might not feel the same way we have chosen to let our boys play baseball this summer. We feel like this will give them a since of normalcy after being home bound for over 12 weeks. Just remember to make the decision that you feel is right for your family.
DOLLY PARTON’S SUCCESSFUL “GOODNIGHT WITH DOLLY” BEDTIME READING SERIES FINALE SET FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 4
DOLLY PARTON’S SUCCESSFUL “GOODNIGHT WITH DOLLY” BEDTIME READING SERIES FINALE SET FOR THURSDAY, JUNE 4 AT 7 P.M.
Dolly Parton closes her 10-week bedtime reading series with a special finale episode that includes a tribute to the more than 1,700 local organizations that offer her Imagination Library to the children in their community. Since its inception in 1995, the Imagination Library has gifted more than 138 million books through its local affiliates to preschool children. The library currently gifts books to 1.6 million children around the world each month.
“The local affiliates are the heart and soul of the Imagination Library,” said Parton. “They work hard every day to raise the funds to make sure the books remain free to all of the children enrolled in the program.”
The series began on April 2, 2020, with The Little Engine that Could® and will conclude June 4. The series has been viewed more than 15 million times on YouTube, Facebook and other popular social media platforms.
The finale episode features “Pass It On” written and illustrated by Sophy Henn. This book was specifically selected to end the series because it encourages all children and adults to share their joy, their happiness and their kindness with others.
“I am thrilled this series has meant so much to so many families across the world,” Parton continued. “I hope our finale episode featuring ‘Pass It On’ will be another way for us to transform this moment of hardship into more love and more kindness.”
The finale concludes with the re-release of the trailer for the documentary “The Library That Dolly Built.” The film was scheduled for a nationwide release on April 2, 2020, but was postponed because of the spread of COVID-19. The film will be released in late September 2020.
“The Library That Dolly Built,” directed and produced by journalism professor and director of Land Grant Films Nick Geidner, and narrated by Danica McKellar, goes behind-the-scenes of Dolly Parton’s literacy-focused non-profit, Imagination Library, to show how one of the most famous and beloved performers in the world has developed an efficient and effective program for spreading the love of reading.
The Imagination Library started as a gift for the children in Dolly’s hometown, Sevierville, Tennessee, and is now active in all 50 states, and five countries, gifting more than 1.6 million free, age-appropriate books to children every month. The film also provides a glimpse of the profound impact the Imagination Library has on people through original interviews with authors, policymakers, Imagination Library staff, recipients, and the legend herself, Dolly Parton. Woven throughout the film is a biographical sketch of Dolly Parton, featuring rare photos and films from her childhood. Unlike many biographies of Dolly, it doesn’t focus on her music. Instead it demonstrates that at every point in her career, any time she has had success, Dolly Parton has come back to Sevierville to give back to her people.
THE MOTHER OF ALL BABY SHOWERS HOSTS FIRST-EVER VIRTUAL REALITY EVENT TO SUPPORT NEW & EXPECTING PARENTS
The Mother of All Baby Showers to host “MOABS WORLD” providing innovative medium for education and resources for parents navigating social distancing before or after baby.
The nation’s largest adults-only night out for expectant and new parents, “The Mother of All Baby Showers (MOABS),” is partnering with several brands and experts in the baby and maternity industry to bring online education and connection to the next level through the first-ever Virtual Reality (VR) Pop-Up event, MOABS WORLD on May 29 at 12pm ET.
“MOABS has been producing adults-only events for expectant and new parents for over nine years, but COVID-19 has clearly thrown a wrench into our plans to educate and celebrate pregnancy and parenting in 2020. In an effort to keep people healthy and safe, while also staying connected with influential parents and parents-to-be, we are entering into new territory and have created an amazing VR experience, unlike any other,” said Amy Lundy, founder of MOABS and mother of three.
MOABS World will offer a unique experience to connect, learn and have fun, with every single aspect of the event being accessible from a personal computer; no headset is required for this virtual reality experience. At 12 PM ET, on May 29, MOABS WORLD will open to media only for one hour. The initial event will also be livestreamed on Facebook, offering a way for people to view the experience without actually being inside the event. Space is limited, so all media is being asked to register at their earliest opportunity.
The event will feature Chicco, OXO Tot, Allegheny Health Network (AHN), Simple Wishes, Florida Prepaid and LaCroix. One highlight of the VR event will be a Q&A on mental health with AHN, a distinguished leader in the postpartum mental health space. Another unique aspect to the event is all attendees will also be treated like VIPs (very important parents) and will be gifted an OXO Tot Nest Booster Seat following the event.
“This is a big time of uncertainty for new parents, especially pregnant and postpartum moms. This was supposed to be a celebratory time in their lives, and many feel that being taken away,” continued Lundy. “As a mother, and a small business owner, my philosophy is simple. Now is not the time to shut-down or give up. We need to innovate and find ways to support these parents when they need the information and encouragement most, and that is why we created MOABS WORLD, and prior to that, Project Pregnant” she continued.
During the past seven weeks MOABS has been educating its audience through Project Pregnant, an online event series featuring giveaways and digital mini-events from their exceptional brand partners and national experts. The public has had access to these educational events hosted on Facebook and Instagram, some of which have views of over 10,000. These events, as well as MOABS WORLD, are free.
For more information about attending MOABS WORLD, partnering or providing your expertise, please contact Amy Lundy at firstname.lastname@example.org or (954) 579-5845. An official invite with registration instructions will follow via email.
