Addis Nola is the perfect place to try Ethiopian signature is the perfect place to try Ethiopian signature dishes. I was thrilled to visit Addis and interview with the owner/restauranteur Prince Alem Lobo. The restaurant is family owned and operated and has just approached the one year anniversary. The restaurant is located in Mid City area. The red building is a unique exterior that resembles a traditional uptown house. My interview with Prince extended beyond food and the family business. We discussed social and political issues such as Black Lives Matter movement and the Pandemic.
I had been following Addis for a while on social media. I was ready to order when I walked in the door. For appetizers, we enjoyed the Sambusa. I was surprised by the delicious flavor.
Addis Nola serves delicious vegetarian friendly dishes. the veggie combo. I didn’t realize how good red lentils, collard greens, beets, cabbage, potatoes and carrots could be so good! I am all about my spices and they do have some wonderful spices. I recommend sampling a few. The Ethiopian tea is a must try. The ginger flavor is just perfect with the spicy dishes.
In the Kitchen, Prince cooked shrimp tibs. These were phenomenal. The spices and flavor are so good. He also taught me how to roll the delicious injera (Ethiopian flatbread). Forget the fork, you can eat this with your hands.
The hand woven furniture was gorgeous. The interior of Addis is perfect for those treasured photos with your Ready to Wear African fashion.
On my next visit, I plan on ordering the Doro Wot, which is an Ethiopian chicken stew simmered with .caramelized onions in ROBUST spices.
If you visit Addis Nola, please tell the Fresh Prince I said hi. This restaurant should be on your radar if you are looking for a phenomenal dining experience.
